It's always green since the day it was introduced. I search and found this github page[1] with a screenshot a merited post/reply posted 4 years ago.
Btw, i don't know whos github page is that.

Upon checking this thread: BitcoinCleanup.com charity I noticed this, just wanted to share that I've noticed the word 'Merited' has turned green now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was black before, right?
It is always green. You only did not notice it before, till today. Highlight is always in Green. - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.
I'm pretty sure it was green from day 1.
