How do I get merits what are the criteria I need in other to increase or gets merits on this forum
Because from what I've read so far you need merits in other to rank up so please I need your advice on this

Most of the answers you can do on the questions that you are questioning have been answered and I just want to connect some of the existing answers such as consistent with time and make a forum discussion as a hobby.
Multiply read. Reading is not only one field of knowledge but mastering in detail one field of expertise is the best thing.

Merit will be given by who are the users here who have sMerit for posts that are above the average quality or according to them worthy of us to get.

Good day everyone I'm new to this forum and I really don't know  much about how things arr done here
I'm clear about most of the things but there's just one thing I don't seem to understand
How do I get merits what are the criteria I need in other to increase or gets merits on this forum
Because from what I've read so far you need merits in other to rank up so please I need your advice on this
You have said very well, first thing we need to focus on is to understand the question well and develop the talent accordingly. If we can practice upma for few days I believe you will get enough confidence to rank up. We have seen that those who have ranked up in this forum in the past have put in their efforts with a lot of patient practice and are reminded of people with different experiences.
The first thing we need to realize is that we have to resolve our mistakes because the right path originates from the wrong path. If we understand the concepts of the forum and work hard accordingly, we can overcome this obstacle.

You have to follow the others.

You should pleasant other member here.

Use your skills to lick and flattering them. Believe me, if they like your flattery, You will be fast grow up your rank like others.

I'm struggling to understand whether you said that sarcastically or you meant it. If that was sarcastic, I give it to you that it was funny, but if you meant what you said, I would like to respond.  Smiley

So, if you already know the formula of how one can grow up in ranks easily like other users, I wonder why you have been struggling with it yourself, and had to participate in threads where you are rewarded with merits for completing certain tasks such as signing a message or running a node.

Now, if you say that you didn't do those things for merits but did it for learning purposes, I would say you don't need to make a post if you are doing it for learning purposes. However, I don't think that's a bad thing, you learned something and got rewarded for it, but I find no logic in what you said about how one can earn merits. Licking someone's feet or flattering them wouldn't earn you merits, it will make you lose your respect eventually.  Smiley

Please ignore the second part of this post if you were being sarcastic.  Wink

The more experienced he is, the more meritorious he is.  So any newbie member can surely learn something good if they work properly in this forum for long time and target senior brothers.  Not only that if he is experienced with Bitcoin then he will get good results from it if he invests from here and holds for long term.  So a wise man never sits idle, those who can work hard are sure to succeed.

A person won't get anything just by being idle so if a person does put an effort in doing things then he/she will surely get it and that's what putting effort do to people. Effort and patience will be good to a person especially a newbie which means they will learn and what they learned can be used like investment, trading or something they love to do. If you say idle then I think it's those newbies who got discouraged not long after they got discouraged.

The first sign to show that you are really interested in learning about the question you ask is how serious you are following up on every single answer that has been given, which many newbies are not good at doing.

Just check within yourself and fine areas that you pick interest in and how you can contribute to the community, and you might not want to worry about merit as they will just come to know even when you don’t expect them.
Very true. Some newbies would just create topics and forget about it, with expectations of earning merits and how the thread is going is really not their business anymore, even if there was really a lot to learn from the contributions of other experienced users in the forum in the particular subject, they’ll simply just miss it.

Your advice is also very good, one more thing I can add is for the OP to first dedicate himself to learning more about the forum and just like you said, he’ll be able to know areas he can effectively contribute to the forum that will be beneficial to other members, and the merits will start coming in.

You get merit for posting something that people find helpful or informative

Like the real life story that we are currently playing "continue to do good" and goodness is expensive. If in the forum continue to be active and contribute real come with questions or provide good thoughts in writing so that it provides benefits even though it is a little bit after being read by others. when someone wants to apply it, it can work as you said.

I am sure all bonuses will come to you by themselves Wink.

Interesting I thought merits must be earned for doing task or for the number of post and activity one must earn. This thread is informative. So they're shared merits too.  But I believe the merits cumulated with have a way to boost one from one level to another faster. I beg to differ but one thing I have learnt from this thread is activities doesn't fetch you merits.
Well firstly I'm glad my thread was informative to you
It makes me feel better I really felt stupid after creating the thread considering the backlash I received

Merit are lik hierarchy that show how important a member is in the forum, when a member has many merit it shows that such member makes important contributions to the forum. Merit are earned when you make important contributions and also when you bring something of big importance to forum to benefit from. It never easy as a newbie to start earning merit especially when you are new to bitcoin entirely, you tends to find alot of things difficult but with time you will find it more easier.

So i will just say you should try and read more about the forum and learn much about bitcoin too, if you can make research so you can also make relevant contributions too and with that you can earn merit too. Read and explore more I will strongly advise.

Well, I don't think there's much to say again seeing that enough have been said under this thread regarding how to get merits with your efforts and contribution to forum. Unfortunately, you're already on a wrong track with triple neutral tag on your profile for using AI to generate posts and publicly asking members to drop merits on your posts. In as much as you need merit to rank up, you don't need to go extarmile to have it at any cost. Ranking account is a gradual process and there is no fixed time to do that. I don't understand why the haste when you can actually take time to do that at ease and patiently.

I'll add a little, don't focus on how you want to get an award, especially merits. More on giving whatever is best for you and make your post worthy of getting it. I'm sure our friends here won't just miss your post if it's good and meaningful to them. If your post is useful but still hasn't received merits, at least you've given your best and can be useful for others.
Alternatively if s/he thinks that all the post created on this forum are so meaningful then can also report them to @filippone thread to get reviewed though it would take a bit longer due to much application ongoing on a regular basis. Merits doesn't come from creating a very lengthy post but, a brief and concise post can as well received merits, most times people talks about merits and what I mostly understand about merits is exposure if that account is always active posting and contributing to the forum then it would definitely receive merits. Some people just come online post something and disappear with the hope that post would give them merits when they comes online, although there is every possibility but reputations and activeness counts mostly.

Merit comes as a result of hard work, is the reward for the thorough job you have done in learning, reading and understanding about a particular topic or context and you are able to impact that on others, whoever is impressed by your taught and understand through your post ,gives you merit for your findings and job well done because you are impacting the knowledge you have got on others which helps to improve their ideas .
Merit isn't like that to begin with because merit is implemented because there are a lot of spammers and rank up since the requirements to rank up before is determined by activity points so in order to prevent that or at least lessen the amount of spam posts or low quality post and also to prevent from ranking up to legendary because of bounty campaigns. So for a member to rank up is to post good/high quality posts and wait for someone to send you merits if they deem it worthy.

To earn merit in bitcoin forums one must create good quality posts. If good quality posts are created then surely merit can be earned here. But the post must contain educational information that other users know can learn something good by posting informative posts. There are many people who create posts that do not have any merit or information due to which they can't earn merit even after creating many posts and thus the rank does not change.

Getting merit should not be the priority of any newbie, they should first focus on understanding the forum rules, focus on the core reasons of the forum which is Bitcoin discussion, then altcoins and other politics and society matters that is relevant to discuss. Even if a newbie goal is to be getting merit and ranking up as their priority before joining the forum, they should understand that no member is under any obligations to give them merit. The best approach is to increase your cryptocurrency knowledge and make meaningful contributions with quality posts before merit can start coming. It can be very discouraging if a newbie focuses on getting merit and ranking up and it doesn't happen as expected, that is why it is better to focus learning and making meaningful contributions without worrying about when someone will see your posts as worthy of their merit.

So is it like given by other members in on the forum or by very high ranking members
I believe you have gone through all the comments in this thread, you can be able to understand that merit can be given by anyone provided they have smerits.

If you have two merits, you can also send one, likewise if you have four, you can also send two; In general, your number of merits determines the smerits you will get, and you can sed it to anyone you like if you find their posts worthy of merits.

Take merits out of your mind and learn, when the time comes, you will earn them in abundance. Once you can interact with others and provide quality and useful solutions to any problem, or if you share useful information in the forum, you will earn merits.

If someone is benefited by you or if you can post something informative then you will surely get merit. Exchange the topics you know about in the forum and gain knowledge about what you don't know. If your post is useful to someone then he will give your merit. Instead of focusing on merit, focus on making informative and useful posts.

Don't focus on merits. Keep writing good stuff. You'll get merits automaticly by another user's when your topic will be good and helpfull.
Merit will also make you to write quality post, because anyone that's looking forward to increase it's Merit earning has given itself assignments by making a research with a quality post,

So that's one the things I see that prompt people to earn merit, it's obvious that you can't make irrelevant post and expect merit, expect it merit of sympathy

They are some merit that's called sympathy merit that you feel you to dash out for writing rubbish, and some posts that earn merit because of their innovation of finding positive things of that will help  forum, that's one of the things that fetches people mega merit in their thread.

Most merit farms have all been wiped out over the years and the best way to end merits was and still is to put up as more quickly content as possible. Eventually, you start to get more recognition from community members. Alternatively, you can opt to help out members by creating highly informational threads that would help other members in one way or another. This and some bit of patient should be able to get you up and running with earning your first sets of earned merits.

There is always just one secret about merits that have worked for me and every other Forum members, and that is to post good quality posts that contribute differently and add something extra from other opinions in your post's, by so doing, you are awarded merits from those who read and fund your comments helpful to them, and also you can participate in the various merits give away thread's around the forum, which is something very few lately.

So you efforts should be in contributing positively to the various discussions around here, don't be so desperate to give up when you don't receive such amount of merit's as you expected, a Post that did not get merited today, can still get merited in the future that the reason one need to keep a highly quality post's history.

Everybody wants merit to get to the next rank and when that doesn't happen you just have to be at ease, no going up or down. Making your post unique and very informative makes  the merit flow but it all depends on the members who are reading you post and if they want to appreciate your work, without that I don't see any merit getting attached to your post and mind you, don't expect merit to always come whenever you make your post. But from what I observed, you have to work harder to get merit these days so I'd advise you keep your head up and always give the Forum something positive to talk about, getting into conversation will help.

In terms of growth I don’t know, anyone either newbies can build their crypto knowledge gradually without earning merit. When it comes to ranking up merit is needed, how can we explain the concept about merit when we clearly know people receive merit unexpectedly, I don’t know how all these work but, looking carefully people who earn merit make contribution not just quantity because it’s best you go for quality over quantity. I will advice you focus on what’s more understandable and read as a newbie for clearer contributions.

How do I get merits what are the criteria I need in other to increase or gets merits on this forum

In addition to what High rank members have said to you already, here are a few tips on how to earn merits, be consistent and active, Post quality content, share useful information and your experiences in Bitcoin though as a newbie you won't have much experience, participate in discussions, provide helpful answers, create meaningful threads, be yourself and most importantly. Keep the rules.

The only criteria is to make good quality posts. You will naturally earn merit over time. There are also a few threads where you can submit posts that you’ve written so they can be evaluated by merit sources and they will give you a few merits to help you out if you are just starting on the forum.

It might seem daunting to be able to earn enough merits to reach a high rank, but you will steadily make progress as long as you remain active.

Undoubtedly being active pays a lot from my experience while growing up and navigating around the forum, for instance there is a major difference between a student who frequently comes for lecture and pay attention and those who doesn't come for classes, being active is more like a progressive learning than retarding because it increases the curiosity of the unknown to be known by asking relevant questions where and when necessary, a user who is active in the forum will definitely be making progress than a user who are less active. It is a good advice to remain active and get what is happening at fresh.

You are right, you need merits and activity to rank up in this forum, and steps to earn merits are not directly outlined, but indirectly, you should know that merit is an important entity in this forum which is why it is use as a criterion for ranking up.

To earn merit is not as easy as you may think, and at the same time is not as hard as you may expect. Earning merits is sometimes lucky because merits is a reward to your quality post and contribution to this forum and since we have different users, everyone have their say on how to rate a quality post, so if one finds the post worthy of merit, someone might not find it worthy, and you cannot blame them because we all have mode of understanding. But if you keep written quality contents and keep given good contribution to the forum, you will earn merits easily.

When some newbies get here, the first post they create is for them explaining how they don't know how things are done in the forum. My question is; who taught them how to create a post? How did they find and locate the beginners and help board to create their first post?
Let's assume they were able to do all that because they kept checking out every board and sub board in this forum, clicking on and reading most things they see until they found what they were looking for.

Newbies can actually follow that same pattern to know how this forum works. They should navigate through the forum, know what each board is meant for, read some important posts including pinned posts and rules, and they are good to go. No one here leant everything about this forum in one day. As for merits, they will come if they work hard.

So is it like given by other members in on the forum or by very high ranking members

Yes, it is given to the forum members when they view your post and they see that it deserves some merits. They will send you their spendable merit (smerit), which is just like giving you an award for what you have contributed to the forum. Also, not only high-ranking members, everybody can give merit regardless of their rank. As long as you have smerit in your account, you can share it with the people with high-quality posts, so do good and merit will come.

Avoid posting unnecessary posts. Because of merit, if you do that, merit will not even come. Sometimes you may get merit from a post you did not expect, but because it is good quality and it deserves to be merited, a forum member who has smerit can decide to merit you.

Yeah..and don't kick out advice of people, try to follow some advice you feel that will uplift you, if you take here serious you will come up with good results, making a good research is primary something that will make you to achieve what you have in mind, be committed in your local board as I said before, I have seen some profiles who rank up to senior member rank without posting one post in English board, and all its merit was achieved through the local board, because merits is been distributes mostly in local, so return to your community and dedicate yourself fully.

You don't need to know any criteria before you earn merit, because theirs people who newly registered but the first post or second post they make and they earn merit, why someone who has been here for awhile has not earn any. But follow this process it can help you to earn merit faster.

• Read and understand posts before you respond

• Make a research of something that has not  been written and post in forum before

• Desist from low value post, making a quality post will give you high chance of earning merit

• Ensure your subject in any of your thread and the composition is in accordance

• Make sure your spelling and the English you use is properly arranged or  polished

• Make sure you post in your locals, because you have more advantages of earning a merit in your local board than English boards

I guess you have already read the contents right here as your head start. Newbies - Read before posting

Now there are no real criteria to have merits, this could be subjective and objective at the same time. Objective because you share knowledge and skills that might help to the community that most of the members will benefit from the contents, could be subjective because other people wants your knowledge, thoughts, and contents. Merit has a freewill whether you want to give to others or not but there's no essence holding tons of merit at all let them other people to reach their next rank journey. Others just want merit just to qualify to post an image and join in signature campaigns.

Because from what I've read so far you need merits in other to rank up so please I need your advice on this
3 pages and you got many answers. Today I remember about ChatGPT and try to share an answer from Free ChatGPT version, not commercial paid version.

The free answer about merit from ChatGPT is helpful enough for newbies.

1. Participate in discussions: One of the main ways to earn merit is by contributing to the forum by participating in discussions and adding value to the conversation. This can include posting useful information, asking relevant questions, and engaging in constructive debate.

2. Help others: Another way to earn merit is by helping others on the forum. This can include answering questions, providing assistance to new users, or pointing people in the right direction.

3. Create quality content: Another way to earn merit is by creating high-quality content that is relevant and informative to the community. This could include writing informative posts, creating helpful guides, or sharing interesting news or research.

4. Follow the forum rules: In order to earn merit, it is important to follow the forum rules and guidelines. This includes not spamming, not engaging in inappropriate behavior, and not breaking any other rules set forth by the forum.

5. Contribute to the community: Participating in the community and helping it grow can also be a way to earn merit. This could include organizing events, contributing to community projects, or helping to moderate the forum.

6. Be active: Being an active member of the community can also help you earn merit. By regularly participating in discussions and engaging with other users, you can demonstrate your commitment to the community and your willingness to contribute.

7. Share your expertise: If you have expertise or knowledge in a specific area related to Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, you can use that expertise to earn merit. This could include sharing your insights and thoughts on current events, providing technical assistance to other users, or sharing your experiences and lessons learned.

8. Add value to existing discussions: Another way to earn merit is by adding value to existing discussions. This could include providing new information or insights, offering alternative viewpoints, or asking relevant questions to further the conversation.

9. Report spam or inappropriate content: If you see spam or inappropriate content on the forum, you can report it to the moderators. By helping to keep the forum clean and free of spam and inappropriate content, you can demonstrate your commitment to the community and potentially earn merit.

10. Engage with other users: Building relationships with other users on the forum can also be a way to earn merit. By engaging with other users in a positive and constructive way, you can demonstrate your commitment to the community and your willingness to contribute. This could include responding to questions, offering assistance or support, or simply participating in discussions and getting to know other users.

PSA from ChatGPT: Remember, earning merit is not a quick process, and it may take some time and effort to build up your reputation on the forum. However, by consistently contributing valuable content and engaging with the community, you can eventually earn merit and increase your status on the forum.

Of a true one actually need merits in other to get rank up here in this forum, getting merit in this forum is not always easy for you need to make a better and meaningful post before you can be awarded a merit. Getting Merit here is not how long your post may be but how meaningful and informative your post is before you can actually get a merit. But when making post your thought shouldn't be in getting merit but adding valuable contribution to the forum and never loss hope or interest when the merits are not coming just keep on adding value to the forum you will definitely see the merits coming.

Merit is for good/ high quality posts. If a user does not make good/ high quality posts, why did you send merit to the post?

You misused merit and it can motivate more newbies creating same curious topics, to ask about merits, just to hunt for merits.
If so, then does the merits sent by other forum members because the post is funny are misused?.

Yes, you probably looked at what the OP got his first merit for. And yes, I liked his sincerity. It is sometimes difficult for newbies to correctly evaluate a place where they come for the first time. However, I checked his posts before motivating him with one merit, and there is nothing reproachable in the fact that you encouraged him with a couple of merits. There is no need to be too strict, as the OP forum sees it. Sometimes a person's sincerity helps him achieve more than the experience itself.
But perhaps you can remember Ratimov, who, because of his efforts to get into the table of those who helped newbies with their first merits, sometimes gave merit for plagiarism, and it was his passion for striving to be the first in everything that gave birth to dozens of alternatives, creating a bunch of simple topics from newbies.

Greetings from the Bitcoin Forum.  You must earn merit by creating account in bitcoin forum to get good position or increase account rank.  If you can earn merit by making good quality posts by your hard work then surely you can change rank.  If you can't change rank you can never expect anything good from this forum.  I repeat you need to create good quality and educational posts to earn merit.

If you have knowledge then you are suitable to post anywhere in this forum. But you need to post informative and up-to-date posts that are consistently good and of high quality that will reward you with merit. So gain enough knowledge in the forum and increase your account rank with Erit.

If so, then does the merits sent by other forum members because the post is funny are misused?. What about merits sent on signature campaign thread posts, is it also misued?. In the first place, it is up to the sender whoever he/she will send the merits and as you can read in my previous post is that I am sending op merit to be encouraged to make good/high quality post. I won't do this most of the time and if I did send for something similar like this is to not make them focus earning merits and should focus on different matters like learning more about crypto.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Merit can be obtained from other members. but not necessarily from members with very high ranks. every member who has enough sMerit in their account can send Merit to other members. it can even be done from members with Junior Member rank who send Merit to the rank above them.

some other information has been shared by other members here. I also see you have started posting on the local board. you will be easier to communicate there and I think local members will definitely help with any questions you have. you just need a little effort to be more active in the forum to understand more about how this system works.

Sometimes you get to put yourself in the spot light and you just don’t realize it. I mean, it’s okay to just be cool and enjoy the forum you know, seeking way too much attention could get you ignored by most without having to click the ignore button.

You just might not be reading right though or the comments that come under the threads you read on merit else, you just might have found users that would tell you just how this deemed important merits are earned. Any thread that talks about merit eventually discusses how it’s been rewarded.

Mind quoting the thread and I would quote you a response on how it’s earned eventually.

The merit system was introduced to clean up the forum from spammers who only pursued the amount of activity to rank up. Simply put, to make it easier for you to understand about merit, this system is created to improve the quality of posts in the forum by requiring users to have a certain amount of merit to be able to rank up, besides that you also have to be an active member in the forum to get the amount of activity at a point that has been determined by certain ranks. So, you have to make quality posts to get merit from other users and can rise to a higher rank.

How do I get merits what are the criteria I need in other to increase or gets merits on this forum

Your performance is what will make you have merit in the forum, merit is like something that is being given to you by the members of the forum to show appreciation for your hard work or for making a good point when you post or quote someone, you are a newbie and I think you need to learn a lot before talking about merit, although we know that it is very good for a member of the forum to have merit to grow he or her account so that he can perform in some activities in the forum as a newbie if you don't learn more about the forum or know the kind of post you will do to earn a merit that means you are just wasting your time in the forum.

Merit is not easy to get but putting more effort and making a good post in the forum will help you to achieve merit that you can not even imagine getting because you might reply to a post and make a good point and someone will love it and give you merit for what you are doing and that will also encourage you to work hard and get merit if you have known much about the forum then you can go and read many threads and make a good post but if you haven't know much I will advise you go and learn more because if you don't know much about cryptocurrency or anything discuss in the forum that means you are not going to have merit as you think.

There are different ways to earn merit and one of it is to make a high quality posts or constructive posts that will surely get merited.

I'm confused. What are the different ways of earning merits? You could say that a person might get merited if their posts are liked by other members, someone might find them helpful, constructive, or even funny, but this doesn't mean a person should become a joker and keep trying to post funny stuff all around the forum only so that they can make others laugh or smile and earn merits for that. The basic criteria is to be helpful and constructive, and you will earn merits over time.

There is one more thing most newbies don't understand. They believe a constructive or high-quality post is a very big post, has a lot of words or sentences, and covers a lot of space in a thread. That isn't true. A single sentence can also be constructive as long as it serves the purpose.

Op as long as this Bitcointalk forum is concerned for you to get merits and rank up is very simple but is just depends on your knowledge and understanding because once you are contributing meaningfully in the forum you are going to earn merit from our senior high rank members very easily, because normally in this forum merits is always awarded to a meaningful post that is very helpful to the forum, as and appreciation. However I would advise you do more of reading the high rank members previous thread because doing that is going to help you gather more knowledge and create a better thread that we earn you a enough merits.

If your posts are really informative and helpful to the forum, I don’t think you’ll have to spend a long time to get merits and rank up in the forum. If you’re really too focused on whether the merits will come or not, you’ll get discouraged if they don’t come as expected. Allow them to come naturally while you continue to do your own part in contributing and writing good posts in the forum.

Yeah, merit is what one need to rank up in this forum but it's not given anyhow, your post must be informative, I mean something that will help or contribute to the forum. And secondly you shouldn't be looking for merit now because you might get discourage after posting and you don't get any perhaps you should focus more on learning and understanding things you don't know before, only then you can adjust from your way of posting. One thing that will help you in this forum is understanding how this forum works and coming with a pattern that will attract people when I say attract I mean information that will be helpful, valuable etc and don't get yourself worked up because of merit the knowledge you will acquired if you learn will be more than having a merit.

OP, firstly, ask yourself why you personally need merits. Why did you come to the forum? You want to increase your rank, but why? In addition, you can say that you are a trader and, as you say, already experienced, which means you have the necessary information. Your communication on the forum will definitely find like-minded people who agree with your posts, and you will definitely get your merits soon. The main thing is "not to go out of your way" so that the goal is to increase your rank and not exchange experience.

But your greeting in the Nigerian section and the statement that people on the forum are very strict made me smile Grin.
Hello everyone I'm happy to be here my experience so far on the platform has been nice I just realised one thing sha the people here are very very strict

People here are different, and people do not like lies. This is radiated in many posts. Therefore, do not rush, and you will definitely get what you want.

it is given by other members who have sMerits, it doesn't matter if they are high-ranking members or not as long as they have sMerits they can give merits to other members.

also, regarding the "criteria" for recieving merits. it doesn't have any criteria, as long as you post even if it is "low quality" you can recieve merits from others if they decided to give it to you for some reason but you have to realize that posting high quality/helpful posts would most likely get more merits than the "low quality" posts.

Don't worry about merits, focus on contributing to the forum, or have decent comment or reply to the topics share information, and make informative post, just don't expect that it will be automatic, it will come.
This is the best answer I have read so far. It is not important to work hard only to get merit as much as it is important to stay active and use the forum in the normal way, that is, enrich your knowledge by reading topics and for others to benefit from your knowledge and skills by participating in discussions. Merit points will come without a doubt.
I am speaking from personal experience, as although I am an old permanent member and have many posts that have earned and still deserve merit points, once I stop being active for a few months, I stop receiving merit points. After I returned to activity here on the forum two days ago, I was surprised yesterday that one of my posts got three merits, although I was not really expecting that.
Yes, it is the constant activity and useful participation that guarantees getting merit, and that is why upgrading accounts is not based only on merit points, but more importantly on activity as well.

Op, are you being very serious with the question you are asking right now or you are joking? I mean how can you say you don't understand how things are done here at the same time you are saying that you clear about most things what do you really mean? stop beating around the bush just say you want to know how you can earn merit because that's the only thing I think this your post is all about nothing else to be honest.
From what I can see, you understand that you need merit to increase in rank as a newbie but you forget that you need knowledge to know what to do so that you will receive some merit because that which you are only interested in can be easily gotten when you have knowledge which should be your priority for now as a beginner who has zero knowledge on cryptocurrency.
I would advise you to change your narrative about bitcointalk.org because this community is not all about ranks and merits, there are lots of things you could learn from this place and the people here or you truly want to learn about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, you can also improve in your writing skills and your ways of communication if you follow what is happening here.

You have gotten lots of good advice and recommended post that will make you succeed in the forum. But you should place more emphasis on learning about Bitcoin and the forum. This.will enable you to develop knowledge that will enable you to contribute meaningfully to the forum. Merits are rewards for being productive and helpful in the forum.

So is it like given by other members in on the forum or by very high ranking members

The forum has merits sources whose responsibility is to distribute merits to deserving posts. But you can receive merits from any member that has smerit. You can also give merits to post if you have smerit.

Every newbie that comes to the forum and learn about paid campaigns and how they can earn here are always interested to earn merits so they can rank up and earn. The thing is, ranking up is really not easy when you are desperate to earn merits and since you mentioned you don’t know much about how things are done here i think you should focus on learning about the forum do’s and don’t and understand the them better so you don’t end up breaking any rules.

Earning merit shouldn’t be your main priority here merits do come when you make quality contributions so your main concern should be how to make useful contributions that will benefit the members of the forum.

You earn merit when people find your contribution useful to them and to make quality contributions you need to learn about bitcoin and cryptocurrency first so learning should be your first priority.

Well, you joined this forum (Bitcointalk) just yesterday and you already have at least 12 post which means you are interested in the forum. However, getting merits in other to reach your next rank will not be hard for you if you put more efforts together. As a newbie and someone that's new to cryptocurrency, you have to do more reading than posting so that you will gain enough crypto knowledge and to understand the forum before thinking of how to get merits.

Ive seen your post not bad either. Be helpful and contribute to meaningful topics. As a newbie its quite hard to earn merits especially when many high ranks think of new users as an alt account gaining some merits.

Merits are like a trophy given to quality posts of users when someone like it or youre helpful. So it will depend on how you interact here.

Criteria? maybe there's nothing like that exist since it depends on people if they want to send their smerits or not.

But this are the things you could do to possibly earn some merits.

Posting quality contents
Helping people to understand some situations they want to know, you need to be helpful since somehow people will send a merit if they appreciate your effort done.
Participating any forum activities.

Those are some option you could try. But much better for you to ignore getting merit first, its so early to think about that. What's better for you is to learn lots of words about crypto since if you know what you are talking about and always have sense in every post you made then huge chance that you can receive merits from other users here.

The merit system was designed in the year September 17, 2018. The initial plan was to regulate the ranking system due to excessive garbage posting. To do so, only good quality contributors will be given some merit to appreciate them, and having more of the merits determines your rank in the forum. Now there is no perfect or manipulative way to get merit from cyclers or any individual. Just be organic and contribute positively in the forum and you will have people meriting for your words.

In simple terms, Merit is like an upvote you might have seen or reddit or a like you might have seen on Twitter. There are different ranks on this forum and the only possible way to achieve them is through activity (being active on the forum) and merits. To get merits, you need to make content or post something which is appreciated by the community. Then only you can get an upvote aka merit.

Merits are earned through making quality information and reasonable posts and comments.

When you comment or make a post that has the above-mentioned qualities and an OP finds it relatable, they can decide to gift you merits.

Merit is a structure of the forum which differentiate active and good quality posters from spammers, as it is earn through constant participation in forum discussion and provision of solution to problems. Hence, anybody can earn merit, but only just that you just need to have good knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto in general, to be able to engage in forum discussion. However, I will advise you read the official rules of the forum as given below, as plagiarism is highly prohibited, and likewise promotion of referral link and scam websites are prohibited.

Welcome to the forum!

It seems like someone might have already given you some info since you’re already mentioning merits. Typically, a newbie who doesn’t know much about the forum would start by reading the rules and eventually discover that merits are required to join campaigns later on. I’m curious, did someone tell you to sign up and earn merits to start making money? There’s nothing wrong with that, actually. In fact, the people who earn through signature campaigns here (aside from scammers) keep this forum lively and engaging.

Can you share where did you read it?

In Beginners & Help board, you have everything you need to understand about merit, if you read it. Reading can help you more than creating topics, asking and replying but are not ready for reading.

Newbies - Read before posting.

Don't worry about merits, focus on contributing to the forum, or have decent comment or reply to the topics share information, and make informative post, just don't expect that it will be automatic, it will come.

Merit is a form appreciation for making good points in conversations or it's more like rewards for good contributions.

Make good contributions, help solve problems if possible and stop focusing on the merits it will come when you share good knowledge with others.
