Apparently this makes it immune and the thread can stay in Meta.
I reported the spam, my report is marked as "Good", but nothing happened. Maybe a Mod locked the thread, but I can't know that.

The post is not available anymore. I guess you can check if it was deleted or not since it was Market as " Good". Deleted post title mark like this.

No?

I'm quite sure LoyceV knows how reports work. Yes, the thread is finally gone. Took a minute and a rant in Meta, irony and all that.

I'm locking this thread.

To be fair, what Valak was asking in that thread isn't much different from all those "Can you make a child board for ICOs/DeFi/NFTs/etc.?" although those things are crypto-oriented and have a place in the altcoin section.  But Facebook's metaverse?  I don't know enough about it to see any connection with crypto, so I can't see why a section on it would have any place on bitcointalk.

Point is, the spammer added that question to a post that is peddling some (possibly crypto) bullshit, and apparently that fooled not only users who responded but also moderators (I could also go on about them banning another user for a far more benign attempt of staying within board rules but I won't).

We've seen this happen a lot with personal attacks/rant threads that had some vague forum policy complaints and were allowed to stay in Meta (cryptohunter et al) but this is getting into blatant spam/scam territory.

This happens when people answers instead of reporting...

So my first inclination would have been to respond, not to report (though I did neither in this case).  It was a pretty dumb thread, however.  It would be like asking for a subsection for Libra right after FB announced it--it's way, way too early to be asking for a thing like that, and that's not even taking into account the fact that Theymos would most likely ignore it anyway as he has for all the other requests regarding fad tokens and scammy project thingamajigs.

This is stupid that the post still exists and it's surprising that it exists in meta. I don’t mind having some shilling post on altcoin discussion, we are used to with that but this type of post which certainly has the purpose of sharing the shit, should be deleted. In my local (though they are non-readable to mod), a user posted few times and all were spam. In spite of deleting them, moderator just merged them into one while all of his posts were spam. I'm not directly blaming the mod for our local thread issue though.

Original post as per https://ninjastic.space/topic/5376580 :

Pure spam.

OP not the dumbest spammer out there though, later added this line:

[...]
Maybe forum can create a special space for discussion about the metaverse.

Apparently this makes it immune and the thread can stay in Meta.

Come on now. That shit should be deleted regardless of what fluff it's padded with. I can (sort of) understand why some trolly walls of text often don't get removed from Meta, too much work for mods to read them and figure out their utter lack of value. This is 5 fucking lines though. Not rocket surgery.
