Thanks for all that replied. Restating browser, clearing cache, reinstalling meta mask all didn’t help. Only thing that worked was basically when the “Approve transaction” appeared on Metamask it was dim because of the Connecting to Ethereum Mainnet showing up in front of it,  but if you hit tab a few times it lets you select Approve and it worked. No idea why it does this. In the past I never had any issues.

I found MM very buggy. In my Polygon section, the MATIC is displayed as ETH instead of MATIC. And it uses ETH price. So if you got 10 MATIC it will say 10 ETH and you will think you are rich having $18000 in your account but it’s obviously a visual bug.

Hopefully they fix all these issues.

Rather than waiting or being confused need to restart metamask and other think.

Why not just re-install Metamask, sometimes metamask is really messed up and buggy. If you just checking for the balance in your wallet, why not just checking in explorer? If you have the balance in your address that's mean you have the token.

Re-install solve everything for my case, like balance error and other think.

True, I agree with this.

The most important thing is that you hold the private key of your wallet. After you have reinstalled your Metamask and still have the same problem, make sure you have a good internet network.
If it still doesn't work, there may be a problem with your device. You can download the Metamask application on your smartphone and import your wallet.

Changing which RPC server you're connecting to might help.  Use the ones listed at Chainlist and see if that helps.  If the problem persists, import your wallet in another device using Metamask or another wallet software if it doesn't work.  I'm hearing Rabby is good but don't take my word for it.

I can't figure out what error problem you are talking about. But I am also a person who often gets the metamask error when using this wallet. I frequently get stuck when switching to a network that needs a transaction. At such times, I usually delete them and reinstall them rather than waiting for them to switch networks. I think reinstalling is the best solution for errors like this.

Metamask has been giving lots of lags and errors lately, maybe due to ethereum congested network  I guess. You can try exit metamask or clear cache your browser to fix it. Ethereum gas fees is also sky rocketing that's why ETH is congested these days, it could perhaps of meme tokens lately has been in demand.

Could it be that you've got the same problem as this thread from 2017?

https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/issues/2043

You read all of those answers there as it's got different answers that seemed to work for those that have experienced it as well. Just trying to help but since it's in the past and there could be some updates already, hopefully, that one of the solutions there can help you.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I don't have any ETH on this wallet but I got other balances on other chains like Polygon, Arbitium and ZkSync Era. My ETH wallet is empty. I need it to connect because I got an ZkSync Lite transaction I want to confirm, I need it to connect to the ETH chain to be able to approve the transaction.

Its just stuck on "Connecting to Ethereum Mainnet" and times out after 30 seconds. It connects instantly to the other chains no problem. I searched Google and seems I am the only one with this issue.
What you can do is update the Metamask wallet. Then clear the cache of the browser. After that, you have to log in to the Metamask wallet.

I face this issue often, it usually solves itself upon browser restart. But, I use metamask on mobile, what you on?

If you just checking for the balance in your wallet, why not just checking in explorer? If you have the balance in your address that's mean you have the token.

Op already clarified he wants to confirm zksync transaction that's why he wants to switch to ethereum mainnet.

I still hardly get the gist of your problem, giving screenshot would be more easy to understand, but regardless you could always try reset the metamask like have been mentioned, since if it's ethereum you more likely can't edit it.
