Yes i have been using metamask for 9months without any problem,it will protect your private keys from the phishing sites when you are trading with the dex or decentralized exchanges like etherdelta and forkedelta,your private keys will be encrypted inside metamask when you are doing transactions,plus it will prompt you when you are getting into some phishing sites so that you would know that site is a possible phishing site.
