My take on this is that this is just the beginning of cooperations seeing and researching the blockchain technology as the new 'antidote' to providing large-scale privacy and data solutions.

Many companies already has been moving their legacy systems to blockchain and data solutions already. If I'm not mistaken, IBM has started this trend already like 2 years ago providing solutions to many large scale companies that deal with huge data everyday.

Do you think blockchain scaling solution/s could replace many of today's businesses, and the effect will trickle into the crypto space as the 'retails' investment era???

There could be power shift, but old and traditional database to blockchain which is tamper proof specially companies that rely on the every day to make business decisions. Not sure though if it has a domino effect to the company itself unless the CEO or the board of directors are pro-crypto or pro-bitcoin.

But why they are using ethereum blockchain? Its better to build their own and use it to store sata and can identify the authenticity so they can avoid the piracy things. And cryptocurrency community no need to get feel hurray for this because this is nothing related to cryptocurrencies.

I also have read on the news that Microsoft is going to use Ethereum to fight against piracy. They learned the system called Argus that allows volunteers to report about piracy and receive a reward for it. Argus uses Ethereum that is safe and transparent. I believe that there will be more companies that will refer to the blockchain to develop their business models.

It's only a matter of time, if good news like this keep coming the next bear market won't be so devastating like that of 2018/2019 again, I hope this isn't just a news that will fade away in weeks, there are couples of news like this in the past and nothing later happened

Application of Blockchain to microsoft will not gonna give direct impact to the market because they will just use the technology without buying crypto for investment. It depends on the traders on how they will use this kind of news to hype again the market. It will be a different story if they started to venture and invest on blockchain project to implement on there software. Because AFAIK, They are just considering to apply blockchain but nothing is final yet.

I would like to disagree. Having a giant corporation like Microsoft integrating Ethereum in their system would definitely have a huge impact of the market. You know how the market works now right? people will hype that event (assuming Microsoft really use Ethereum). For now, it's not going to be a big deal until it really happen.

~snip suggests that Microsoft is not ruling out blockchain as the intermediary to solving the privacy issue and instead considers the ETH blockchain to reach their goal.
IIRC Microsoft also has a project to solve privacy issues. They initiate the ION project, it's a decentralized identity that runs on bitcoin blockchain layer-2.

Do you think blockchain scaling solution/s could replace many of today's businesses, and the effect will trickle into the crypto space as the 'retails' investment era???
As you have said, Microsoft only used it for the incentivization process. I believe any further solution/research for blockchain technologies have great potency. Nevertheless, it won't be a magic thing that solves any problems, so it won't fully replace any system that ever existed.

I think this needs to be move on the Altcoin Discussion board as from the article they are using the Ethereum blockchain to combat piracy. I'd report this thread for you. Your title has grammatical error too.

Moved and corrected! Cheers  Grin

The blockchain technology will be used by most industries in the near future and I guess it will be an inevitable feat as we've ever seen. I guess government will be the ones that will be secular to use this and that will be a fact, they'll disregard this.
That's the way I see it too - wider adoption of the blockchain technology from 'bottom-up' of nearly all industries is only a matter of time. This may well follow through into the crypto coins (or it make take some time) but what's exciting is that the technology paves the way to greater transparency and utility for the people, where they are in control.

If everyone understands the reality and the advantages of cryptocurrency blockchain being applied to various industries, it's the catalyst for the revolution of transparency and privacy. This would be troublesome for those involved in the piracy scene and providing those "cracks" with software. It could change the whole set, and I think it's for the better. They will get richer, though, but that's what they are doing it for.

Your title is misleading, I thought they're using blockchain to invade privacy but then I read it and I was relieved because it's actually a good thing that they're incorporating blockchain technology to their system meaning that their reputation as the easily accessed system is definitely going to change.

The latest research document produced (and released) by Microsoft's research team where blockchain-based incentive system was used as a way to maintain privacy, suggests that Microsoft is not ruling out blockchain as the intermediary to solving the privacy issue and instead considers the ETH blockchain to reach their goal.
