I voted "yes" because Bitcoin mining is useful.

Hi All,

I'm wondering, right most of the bitcoin processing power is used to resolve blocks, which are not used for anything except as "proof of work"?

What if instead bitcoin was implemented to do something useful, like help folding@home? Wouldn't that be better? Please vote!

We're already hashing something important, security work for the bitcoin block chain and economy.

Also, it's so far been impossible to find a way to make other 'more useful' data work as proof of work.

If that can be done then you should show us how. It's like saying "Hey, all that work you're doing to make medicine should make food at the same time". Yes, that would be great. Please tell us how to do it.

ideally that would be good but bitcoin is not implemented that way for a number of good reasons.
