I think it's well established you're not gonna make any money from mining bitcoins now but you can mine alts easy enough.
If you have cheap electricity and have your gear already paid off, it is worthwhile to mine.

Get lost, If this is your way to advertise your forum then let me tell you a word of wisdom it won't last longer then few months being maximum. Move it in the service announcements !!!

Get some expert in seo and marketing to promote your forum. I think I can help you with this.

You want proper seo, then you start by increasing your reputation first..and contribute something better to this forum.
Write on specific topics.

There are reasons to do both and the answer is dependent on your current setup. Bitcoins have a mining goal in mind and that is to only allow a block to be discovered every 10 minutes. The way that Bitcoin accomplishes this is by increasing the difficulty to find the blocks. With more and more publicity about Bitcoin, more people are mining and blocks are being discovered at a rate faster then every 10 minutes causing the difficulty to increase. So with that in mind, it is now harder then ever before to mine Bitcoins.
