Hi,

A video about phoneblocks lately caught my interest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFTwthNrL_w
You basically buy a phone skeleton and parts and assemble it yourself.
When a part is broken or outdated, you swap it for a new one.
That way you don't have to change the whole phone.

Maybe this can be applied to bitcoin miners.
Make it as modular as possible. Bitfury chips are already compatible I think with old boards.
When a miner is not efficient enough anymore you just buy a new chip and replace the old one.
You can keep the board, and with the new chip and increased efficiency you can keep mining.
Upgrading is much less costly than getting a full new miner.

Yes, new boards also give you some efficiency increase most likely but you can already extent the lifetime of your miner by just getting a new chip.
I don't have the technical knowhow to apply this, but I think it is a really cool idea and may be usefull to some.

Please let me know if you think this will be usefull/profitable/applicable.
