Try BitMinter client. You can set a schedule for when to mine and you can minimize it to the systray. bitminter.com

Yeah I know that this won't be a serious business (I have a dedicated 1GH rig), but hey, at least something. There won't be neither additional investments (not a single piece of new hardware) nor additional costs - that few hours of mining can be covered by our small solar panel system (which is unfortunately too small to return electricity into distribution network or power bigger rig for 24/7 mining).

That PC is used by whole family and I have no intention to change anything about the routine how it's used (most of the day it's powered off or suspended), just to use the time when someone is using it.

When running 24/7 it will give about $1 per day of revenue and perhaps give back about $0.50 in profit (at current difficulty and exchange rate, using typical U.S. residential electric rate of $0.15 per kWh).

If you run it four hours a day, that's about eight cents a day in profit.

The days for casual mining are pretty much over, sorry.

Hi guys,

At home we have computer with unused 5830 (I'm off to dorms so no one plays 3D games anymore) and I wonder if there is a such a Windows miner that:
* Runs quietly in background (no windows visible to close, because of younger sister)
* Copes well (doesn't crash, can restart work) with suspending PC (putting into "sleep" mode)

That PC is used by whole family and I have no intention to change anything about the routine how it's used (most of the day it's powered off or suspended), just to use the time when someone is using it.

Thank you!
