When I purchase ETFs or Stocks, I always use a minimum amount to essentially offset the brokerage fees. I don't want fees to become too significant compared to my holding size. So if there is commission fee of $10 and I buy $1000 worth of company xyz that becomes 1% fee. But if I buy $100 of the same stock and pay a commission of $10 that is a 10% fee.

I started to think about how much more this concept applies to BTC

And how rising fees are going to really hurt the small investors  Cry

If you were to buy bitcoin today at the current prices and fees, what do you think the minimum investment size should be.

I no longer see investments under 0.1BTC being that practical because of fees.

I agree, small amount of buying and selling are no longer feasible for bitcoin. Hence maybe the high rise of many alts, as people who want to get into crypto and want to start with small investments are looking for alts.

Are the fees exactly the same no matter how much you send?

So it cost $35 to send $35 in BTC right now.

Would it also cost $35 to send $100,000 in BTC?

This is right, so the best option for transacting bitcoin is only when you want to buy/sell huge amounts.

Yes you are right. Even if you transfer 1 Million USD in BTC the fees will still the same.

But If you want to have a faster transaction then increase the fee.

The high transaction fees are definitely affecting small investors; not to mention the additional fees and markups exchange sites like Coinbase put up. Unfortunately there's pretty much nothing we can do right now but to wait for the devs to finish up lightning network. The highest fee I would be willing to pay would be around $5, so I personally wouldn't cash in less than $50.
