Well it might male a little sense. Let's take X11 mining algorithm.
You can't mine Dash anymore because of the nhuge increase in difficulty and that's why you would need a huge mining setup to make some profits. While mining Digital Price on X11 is much easier, there are less than 10 people  mining it on superpool so you might have a chance with your very small setup.

Well Mining is normally done by Proof of work, that's why the GPU's and ASICS "mine". When switching to PoS, the miners will loose their work so the coins will literally not me mined anymore by working machines.

Right, I see. I guess what I was asking is if there are coins that make the mining system more helpful for smaller setups, but now that I think about it that question doesn't really make much sense. Thanks for the reply, anyways!

Are there any altcoins out now that are more friendly to more amateur mining setups? I know Proof-Of-Stake would be an option for minting coins, but that's not really what I'm thinking about. I've also heard rumors that PoW is dead anyways and that PoS is the new environmentally friendly option that's going to be taking everyone by storm anyways. But are there any coins specifically for mining?

Edit: Darn this is the wrong board
