Also you will need Monero mobile wallet since the desktop wallet requires hefty blockchain synchronization, you are better off with coinomi wallet, it support Monero and make sure you backup your recovery seed

Presently RandomX algorithm is the most CPU friendly algorithm in crypto world today, since all you have is that i7 CPU I suggest you check out RandomX algorithm for Monero, best miner are

Like the above poster has said, the only coin you can mine these days on a CPU is Monero. What kind of i7 do you have on the laptop? They range anywhere from 2-4KH/s. If you compare it to the latest Ryzen's which get about 20KH/s you can see what a disadvantage it is.

So assuming 2KH/s and FREE ELECTRICITY you would earn about $0.10 a day. Not really worth it. Especially on a laptop you can easily damage to due excess heat and poor ventilation since they are not designed for 100% CPU usage. Also the battery can explode or swell due to high heat.

My advice if you want to mine is get a desktop, get a better CPU or get a GPU and just mine ETH.

Mining on laptop is not recommended as cooling isn't as efficient as desktop.

For CPU mining try monero.

What coins would you guys suggest mining on a regular Intel-i7 laptop CPU?
I have heard about Veruscoin, but haven't tried it yet
Any other suggestion?
