The Bithereum Node Tool has finally been released!! Now available for Mac/Windows/Linux: https://github.com/BTHPOS/node-management-tool/releases

Running a node has never been easier; in a few clicks you can run a BTH full node and earn crypto weekly via Proof of Uptime!

Check out our PoU v2 blog for details! https://medium.com/bithereum-network/bithereums-proof-of-uptime-v2-0-69da7c1ca17

This tool is a game changer. With all the sentiment regarding running full nodes, we’ve designed a way to make it as easy as it gets, while creating an incentive model to do so. It only takes 4GB of storage to run a BTH full (pruned) node, so start earning crypto today!

The concept of merging bitcoin and ethereum is good but not unique. Qtum does the same and is years ahead for development. However, as a new coin to mine this bithereum could be a good choice

Qtum is for sure an excellent project, however there are slight differences. Whereas Qtum has taken the UTXO model and built it into a modified Ethereum or smart contract platform, our goal was to build a modified Casper PoS model (with additional Ethereum scaling solutions) atop of Bitcoin, allowing BTH to be solely a p2p currency, as opposed to a smart contract platform.

However for the foreseeable future, our PoS implementation is laid out in our Proof-of-Uptime program where all full nodes get incentivized based on the amount of time the node is up. No actual staking is required however holding more BTH in your full node wallet will allow you to receive additional rewards.

This means that mining will be around in BTH for time to come, which is good news for you Grin

Many people here are not interested in technology, and think, apart from developers, and a few dozen other users will not be able to explain the difference.
The main price is exchange and liquidity for miners. Miners earn on it. And if you succeed in something that previously turned out well in ravencoin, then it will be great.

Week 4 Proof of Uptime (PoU) rewards were distributed 3 days ago (Monday). 54 people earned BTH by running a Bithereum node!

Run a Bithereum node today with as little as 8GB of storage and participate in PoU, earning BTH weekly for helping to secure the chain!

If you have any questions about PoU or the project in general you can ask us in our Discord: https://discord.gg/wbsnuGN

The insight node has completed rebuilding the chainstate and the explorer is back up: https://insight.bithereum.network/. We also have a backup so in the event we need to update our insight node again, the explorer won't go down. Guarda should now be working as well since they use our insight api to display balances and send/receive BTH.

Our payouts for full node rewards for Week 3 will now be based on balances since we'll be able to pull that info from the explorer.

We're working to get the Bithereum Node Launcher up by the beginning of next week. The node launcher will make it easy for people who may not understand the technical ins-and-outs of setting up a full node.

If you would like to run a full node you will have two options: running an archive node, or running a pruned node.

An archive node is a full node that contains every single block within the BTH blockchain, and is suitable for someone who has the additional disk space for it (212 GB). A pruned node on the other hand, stores a specified amount of blocks at any given time and is suitable for someone who has less available disk space (between 16-32 GB).

In the coming days we will be providing tutorials on how to use the Bithereum Node Launcher and how to set up an archive node and a pruned node.

Feel free to ask us any questions you may have!

We're putting the final touches on the full node rewards program and we should be getting it out by next week, with the payout cycle starting on the 22nd, and the first payout being March 1st.

For those of you who are interested in earning BTH for running a full node, it's recommended to start running your full node now to get it synced by the first pay cycle.

We'll be posting a blog next week discussing Proof of Uptime and all of the details of the program!

Hi! I would like to ask what is the minimum computer hardware to mine the Bithereum? Is the mining console uses GUI or Text based?

Hi, to mine Equihash owns like ours you'll need a dedicated AMD or NVIDIA graphics card with at least 8 GB of DDR5 RAM. Depending on the mining software that you use will determine the graphics card that you'll need. We recommend using Lolminer and you can find more information for what's supported here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/lolminer-164-fastest-kaspa-miner-in-market-4724735

Most mining consoles use text or console based interfaces, as far as we're aware most don't use GUI. Once you have your mining software setup  you'll want to connect to one of the available mining pools which you can find here: https://bithereum.network/ under the "Resources" tab or here: https://miningpoolstats.stream/bithereum

No point of mining. All volume on both exchanges is fake. Especially p2pb2b. Top 20 is nonsense. Been trying to sell there for a week now. Only bot trading there, always right under my sell order. Lol can push the price 200% up or down by changing my sell order.

Try again, the link is showing 302 confirmations for me. Sometimes this explorer is slow so you have to manually copy and paste the block hash into the search bar, and then click on the corresponding tx hash under 'Latest Transactions'. This manually updates the transaction if it's not showing confirmations.

In the coming days, we will be releasing an Insight explorer that will be completely up to date and perform far faster. We will post an update here once it's out.

Thank you. Working!

This is one of the worst start of a coin I ever witness. Can't even get a decent explorer working weeks after their launch.

Now I can't even dump my mined coins anywhere lol. Talk about a shitcoin :-)

It's been a week (singular) and we've had a working explorer up since the moment we launched: http://explorer.bithereum.network. Indeed it works a bit slow and we've been working as quickly as we can to get up our Insight explorer but these things take time, as any dev would know.

Now, did you think this was a "shitcoin" before or after you decided to mine? :-)

lost all coins with Guarda. Help !!!

Ah cool. Just checked and same thing. BTH balance removed there.
Was checking it earlier and had few coins in both addresses. Interesting.

No worries, Guarda is resyncing their node and balances will show again when that process is finished and sending will be activated. People are already reporting that their balances are showing up again so this should be resolved soon.

Once Guarda confirms to us that everything is complete and sending is enabled, we'll post another update here.

FYI:

BTH on CREX24 is NOT US! DO NOT BUY OR SELL BITHEREUM ON CREX24!!! This is another project bithereumcoin, which released their ANN days after us and has no dev since July of 2018. This coin is not us and you will end up losing your money if you buy or sell that coin. Exchanges that support Bithereum (BTH) will be announced when they become available. We already have integration with a number of exchanges.

What is this contact? https://bithereum.network/ethredeem
I send 0 ETH, but no BTH is coming
And why BTH address here is another then in guarda after import?

The ETH holder redemption distribution will happen in about a month. As long as you send the 0 ETH transaction, you will automatically receive BTH to your BTH address upon the commencement of ETH holder distribution.

As for the different addresses, the address generated from the site right now is a Bitcoin address. However, since we're a fork of Bitcoin, a BTH address will share the same private key, and if you import that key into our Electrum wallet or Guarda, it'll provide you with the corresponding Bithereum address that starts with a B. Also, creating a new wallet with Electrum or Guarda will provide you with the "B" address as well. We'll be making changes to the site soon, and creating an address on the site will provide you with the proper "B" address.

We've officially mined Bithereum's "genesis" block (block 555,555) and we are excited to say that this coincides with Bitcoin's genesis block's 10 year anniversary! We have since stopped mining after the second block (block 555,556) and are now working on recompiling our builds and finalizing our mainnet infrastructure.

We will be providing pools with our 210 GB bootstrap file along with our full nodes they can sync from by the end of tomorrow. Pools can then begin syncing and once this is complete, Bithereum's mainnet mining will officially commence. Once the network is up, it will go straight into the difficulty reduction window!

Bithereum is here!!!!

Hi, any further updates? Have the issues been resolved? Can you provide an ETA on mainnet?

Quick Q about the difficulty reduction - What will this mean? Will blocks be found faster or will it be easier to be found by those with the most Sol's.

Yes, our syncing issues have been resolved! Right now we’re finishing up syncing additional nodes for others to sync from. We also have a 210 GB bootstrap file that we are working on providing pools with by today/tomorrow; updated code will be pushed on our GitHub soon as well. We will aim to mine the first block today to trigger syncing across the network for everyone and then pause mining and wait for the pools to finish syncing to restart the network. Once we mine the first block, it will be entirely dependent on how fast pools sync, but rest assured, mining will begin prior to the end of the week.

Once the network is up, it will go straight into the massive difficulty reduction for the first 20,000 blocks, which means that since the difficulty is so low, blocks will be found much faster, so as long as you join one of the pools you'll contribute to finding many blocks.

Everyone in the community has been supportive and patient so we can't thank them enough! BTH will be live soon!

Could I get some help? been trying various pools and miners still can't get my rig to work on the test net. Just tried Nhq/Fuki miner and got errors. Seems mostly to be all the test pools. I get Stratum error or something. Even Copy paste examples gets me "no connection" errors. With FUKI miner I get errors as well.

https://imgur.com/a/HB8Em4P

Are you using the Nhq/Fuki present on our repo? Also, are you using a testnet address that starts with a T?

Try to connect to our test pool if you haven't done so yet and let us know if that works:

[Configuration]
- Username: your testnet Bithereum address
- Password: anything
- URL: testnet-pool.bithereum.network
- Port: 3857

Yes, Please see config. Using NHEQMiner 5-c. see pic attached.

nheqminer -l stratum+tcp://testnet-pool.bithereum.network:3857 -u BAbkX7PvwZQRKQ4UBzjUwBANSKLEE5nheu.w1 -p anything

edit: Tried FunakoshiMiner 5.2 again as well, same issue.

Your address is for mainnet and not testnet. It should start with a T and not a B.

Also you need to remove “stratum+tcp://“ from the url

Ah, I wasn't aware needed test net address thank you.

Glad it worked! Let us know if there's anything else you need

I get Stratum error or something. Even Copy paste examples gets me "no connection" errors. With FUKI miner I get errors as well.

https://imgur.com/a/HB8Em4P

Are you using the Nhq/Fuki present on our repo? Also, are you using a testnet address that starts with a T?

Try to connect to our test pool if you haven't done so yet and let us know if that works:

[Configuration]
- Username: your testnet Bithereum address
- Password: anything
- URL: testnet-pool.bithereum.network
- Port: 3857

Yes, Please see config. Using NHEQMiner 5-c. see pic attached.

nheqminer -l stratum+tcp://testnet-pool.bithereum.network:3857 -u BAbkX7PvwZQRKQ4UBzjUwBANSKLEE5nheu.w1 -p anything

edit: Tried FunakoshiMiner 5.2 again as well, same issue.

Your address is for mainnet and not testnet. It should start with a T and not a B.

Also you need to remove “stratum+tcp://“ from the url

There was centralization of GPU mining at one time as well, until prices came down and small farms began to grow.

The same process will happen with ASIC miners. As prices get cheaper more rigs will be purchased by individuals and that will solve your much worried about but mostly inconsequential centralization argument.

You may be right in that one day ASICs will become cheaper and more affordable for the average miner, however as it stands today it's infeasible, and the main issue is that the largest manufacturer of these machines also happens to be the largest mining pool which is where the centralization stems from. By the time ASICs become cheaper, the top manufacturers/pools will most likely have come up with even more powerful machines that makes the cheaper ASICs obsolete, which will not solve the issue of centralization one bit. This will be an endless cycle.

You're also missing the overall goal of this project, as we believe there is a flaw in PoW as a whole, which is why we're switching to PoS. PoW has served it's purpose up until now, however there's heaping amounts of evidence to show that PoW is unsustainable for the long-term. Not just in terms of environmentally, but also in terms of efficiency and centralization. If you'd like, we go into detail in our whitepaper (pages 7-10) with plenty of sources to back up our claims: https://bithereum.network/storage/whitepaper.pdf. We also go into detail from pages 10-12 about how PoS helps solve this issue. Specifically Ethereum's Casper model which solves the issues of the nothing at stake problem as well as long range attacks and others.

The goal of starting with an ASIC resistant Equihash algorithm is so that for the year or so leading up to our PoS implementation, we hedge against the risk of a conglomerate hijacking the network and ensure it's long-term sustainability. While also allowing the average person anywhere in the world to participate in mining which gets crypto into the hands of more people and helps the goal of global adoption.

Lets see on BTC mining in big farms. Can you mining BTC now? Its leads to centralization of mining. And community with ASICs is smaller.

This was the same argument when CPU mining became obsolete as GPU's were brought into service.

It was also the argument when horse drawn carriage drivers saw the first automobiles and scoffed at them, saying they would never last.

Basically y'all are stuck with a ton of unprofitable rigs that you have spent thousands of dollars to buy and are now unsuccessfully scratching around looking for coins to mine to be profitable again. ASIC's are the wave of the future and any new coin that does not understand that will not develop as well as one that does.

Well I'm just gonna say it and then put on my flame-proof suit.

All y'all making your ASIC resistant coins is just stupid. ASIC's are the future of mining and if you can't go with the flow you will end up in the dumpster of shitcoins that could have been contenders.

This is an interesting project with a good idea and a good team, but for now this coin is being traded only on a pair of exchanges. Its greatest achievement will be access to the Coinmarketcap, but even if the team succeeds, the trading volumes and confidence in the new coin are still too small.

Right now we're not listed on any exchanges, you're probably referring to bithereumcoin.com which we're not associated with in any way. That project seems to be an ICO and appears to be dead. We are Bithereum Network, a fork of BTC, and the link to our site is: https://bithereum.network. We're in talks with exchanges to have us listed upon our mainnet launch.

Hi all, we have officially announced the date of our hard-spoon snapshot of the Ethereum blockchain, December 12th! This will lock in the BTH allocation for ETH holders based on the ETH:BTC ratio at the time and we will announce the Bitcoin block we will be forking off of. Once this is completed, the mainnet build will be pushed live so that miners and people running full nodes will be able to begin syncing. The hard-fork will occur approximately 2 weeks after the hard-spoon (~Dec 28th) , and mining will begin!

when is the planned launch for mainnet? testnet will not give any "real" coins right? They wont be exported to main?

The mainnet launch is expected around December 28th, we'll be announcing the hard-spoon snapshot date along with the expected mainnet launch within the next week. Correct, coins on testnet are just test coins and won't be exported to the main chain.

12/26/18 UPDATE: Our fork block, Bitcoin block #555,555 has arrived. As soon as all full nodes have the entire chain synced within the next 24-48 hours, the spork will be complete, and Bithereum mining will begin!!

Our mainnet build can be found here: https://github.com/BTHPOS/BTH/releases

About

Bithereum is a fork of Bitcoin in combination with Ethereum’s technological roadmap structured around Proof of Stake consensus to create an unparalleled peer-to-peer digital currency. Bithereum represents two chains in one coin; by hard-forking Bitcoin, and hard-spooning Ethereum to reward them with BTH, Bithereum is the world’s first hard-spork.

For more general info about our project you can view our bitcointalk ANN:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-bithereum-bth-hard-spork-bitcoin-hard-fork-ethereum-hard-spoon-4738533

Prior to Proof of Stake, Bithereum will begin as a Proof of Work coin with an Equihash 144,5 mining algorithm. This allows for GPU mining which increases democratization, and the 144,5 algorithm requires more RAM than the standard 200,9 which will prevent the new Equihash ASIC’s from dominating mining efforts.

Testnet

Our testnet is officially live and you can check it out and prepare yourself for our mainnet launch by utilizing the below resources:

Testnet explorer - View and monitor the status of the testnet blockchain:
http://testnet-explorer.bithereum.network/

Mining Software (for miners) - In order to mine TBTH you can download the following software:
For AMD:
Lolminer: https://github.com/BTHPOS/mining-amd-lolminer

For NVIDIA (Lolminer will work, however these miners are optimal):
NHEQMiner: https://github.com/BTHPOS/mining-nvidia-nheqminer
Funakoshi Equihash Cuda Miner: https://github.com/BTHPOS/mining-nvidia-funakoshi-miner
MiniZ: https://github.com/BTHPOS/mining-nvidia-miniz

Testnet Pool (for miners) - In order to mine TBTH you can connect to our testnet pool (or run a full node):
http://testnet-pool.bithereum.network

Run a full node - If you would like to run a full node to maintain the network or send/receive TBTH:
https://github.com/BTHPOS/BTH/releases

Coming Soon: (links will be posted in coming weeks)
Testnet Faucet - To receive TBTH, enter your BTH Testnet address into the below link and you’ll immediately receive 0.1 TBTH

Web Wallet - Use the web wallet to view your TBTH balance and send to another address

For those interested in contributing to Bithereum’s development, you can submit a pull request or report any issues/bugs to the official Bithereum Network github: https://github.com/BTHPOS/BTH/wiki/Bug-Bounty

Difficulty Reduction Window/Sponsored Mining Pool Registration

In an effort to build our mining community and secure the network, we will be including a massive difficulty reduction window (starting at 0.19 difficulty) for the first 20,000 blocks upon our mainnet launch in December. It is estimated to last around 24 hours, however it may go WAY faster depending on the amount of miners so it is highly encouraged that you begin mining as soon as the hard fork happens in order to receive the maximum rewards. After this point, Equihash <144,5> will kick in along with the LWMA Difficulty Adjustment Algorithm, which adjusts the difficulty after every block.

Furthermore, if you are a pool and are interested in becoming an official sponsored mining pool for Bithereum, you can register for that in the link below. Doing so will allow you to be listed on our site as sponsored and verified and make you a top choice, after your status as a pool has been verified. This is our way of building a strong mining community from the get-go and rewarding early participants for believing in Bithereum!

BTH Verified Mining Pool Registration: https://bithereum.network/mining/form

*Please also enter in the expected hash rate that you will deploy to Bithereum. Thank you.

Full Nodes Rewards Program

Bithereum will be rewarding ANYONE who runs a full node with BTH, similar to how miners get rewarded for their work in every Proof-of-Work algorithm. We are officially introducing a new concept coined by the Bithereum Team, called “Proof-of-Uptime”, or PoU. In every other PoW system, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, there are a misalignment of incentives when it comes to full nodes. Though running a full node is absolutely crucial to the success of the network in the first place, there is no model in place to incentivize this, relying on people to be ideologically attached to a project rather than financially incentivized in the way that every miner is.

Proof-of-Uptime: Everyone who runs a Bithereum full node will be rewarded with a portion of Bithereum’s official mining pool’s fees. The amount each full node will be awarded with will be based on their node’s uptime; the higher amount of uptime a node has, the higher their reward payout will be, however even a miniscule amount of uptime will generate at least some reward. A full node explorer will also be released when the mainnet source code is posted, in which each full node will be able to see their uptime, a portion of their IP address, and their BTH address, similar to the layout of https://ethstats.net/. Rewards will be issued to each of these public addresses every other day.

More info regarding our full node rewards program will be posted in the near future via a medium blog when we reach our hard spoon snapshot date. Stay tuned.

Mainnet Updates

The official mainnet launch for Bithereum is slated for ~Dec 28th. The fork block, Bitcoin block #555,555 occurred on December 26th, and as soon as the Bithereum full nodes complete the syncing process, mining will begin. December 12th is when the hard spoon snapshot for the ETH allocation was taken. The reason for the hard spoon snapshot was to lock in the ETH allocation in accordance to the ETH:BTC ratio at the time to determine BTH’s total supply. As a reminder, Bithereum’s total supply includes the BTC supply from the fork, the mineable supply, the project’s allocation, and lastly the total supply of BTH which ETH holders are entitled to redeem upon launch based on the ETH:BTC ratio at the time.

Note: The mainnet build can be found here: https://github.com/BTHPOS/BTH/releases!!

If you have any further questions about Bithereum or about possibly becoming a sponsored mining pool and its benefits please let us know. In addition, feel free to contact us if you need some testnet BTH coins as well and we’ll send them over to your address. You can reach out to us by PM’ing us via bitcointalk or by sending us an email at [email protected].
