Start Mining altcoins rather then Bitcoin.
Difficulty for mining bitcoin is pretty high so it wont give you much profit.
Start mining some altcoins like ETH, Doge, DGB, etc depending on your miner.
You can find many GPU/ASIC miners.
you can also mine via CPU but it wont give you much profit.
You can purchase some good miners and try to mine coins.
Feel free to contact if any help needed.

heard about Daman as a place but not sure if electricity charges are really cheap might be the case. And Kashmir actually never heard about free electricity across India or low electricity cost as such.  Good if your friend is mining for free with no electricity. Also is there 24 hours electricity @ Kashmir?

Daman is the cheapest place to mine if you live in/near Western India, and if you are from North, Kashmir is the best place.
I do know a person who mines there for free with no electricity charges there, but don't know about 24 hours electricity as it is a terrorist-oriented place where many attacks take place all of a sudden.
What do you mean by terrorist oriented place, you cannot avoid the possibilities that terror groups might be running big mining farms which i think would be funny  Cheesy crypto terrorist making some coins to fund terrorism  Grin are you really telling that terrorist are running mining farms with free electricity.
Free electricity ,where?this is the first time i heard free electricity supply unless someone stealing it.can you tell me place in daman where this free supply is available.

I'm from Srinagar, Kashmir, I'm 18 years old and new to bitcoins, I have a bit experience in trading in commodities and investing in mutual funds
Here electricity isn't free but it's easy to steal even the authorities are so corrupted. They let us steal at Rs 50/month. And in place where i'm living electricity remains for 20 hours a day.

Mining Bitcoin is not so good because expenditure is high due to electricity cost, maintenance cost, hardware price.
You can rather go for Trading. If you use proper skills you can also make enough profit in trading. Trading has a low risk of loss. Mining can also be done using GPU, miners. Choice is yours. You can use GPU to mine coins. Proper specifications will give you profit. Calculate the profit and also electricity cost with maintenance. You can mine coins and start trading them.

Other than stealing there is no where in India where free electricity. Some students say they are in hostel so they get n free. they do not know that its upto a certain range available to them suddenly if there is 100 - 500% rise in electricity units will they do not have to pay?

Sorry .. for i have been out of reach of the forum for i have been out of country for these days. Yup i got to know that mining Bitcoin is totally not profitable. I decided to mine altcoin. It would be a great help if you tell me about mining altcoin .. thanks

There's nothing like bitcoin mining is unprofitable, but you need the right hardware to do it, as well as least or no electricity charges.
Currently, Antminer S9 is the best mining hardware available if you are interested in mining bitcoins, but it is very expensive.
So, your decision of mining altcoins is good but you will still need some good hardware for that too as the number of users in cryptocurrency world has increased to such extent that whenever a new altcoin bumps up, they try to get their hands on and very few chances are there that one could make anything into mining these days. It's not impossible, but hard.

Well you say its hard and on other hand says that there should be least or no electricity charges. Well could you let us know in India which are the places where you can get legally free electricity or least cost per unit so that mining could be setup there.

Have you heard about Daman (U.T. near Maharashtra State)? Or Jammu & Kashmir?
I know a person who mines in Kashmir with completely free electricity, his equipment is old now because he bought S7 earlier when it was launched, but still, electricity at his place is free. I said it's hard but not impossible, and I also said that there should be least or no electricity charges because if you want to profit from this, you would definitely not go for higher electricity rates.

If you would like to mine or get more information about the ZCASH alt coin then kindly refer to the below thread. You can also ask the doubts or if configuration required to mine this coin. OP or other forum people will help you out for that.

Decided to mine bitcoins now .. Please tell what software would i require and what is p2pool and PoS PoW PoE and all .. Also tell the cost of mining software
To mine bitcoin you need to have a mining hardware like bitmain and their most power ASIC mining machines and it will cost you around two thousand dollars per device and then electricity is another concern ,if you are a big investor you can start your own mining rig and try checking about mining Alt coins too and if you are intereted i will explain in detail.
Wht will be the return on investing 2000 dollars,
i m very new to bitcoin and also not much tech savvy
With the amount of money you are planning to invest i would suggest you to start alt coins mining ,especially Zec ,Monero , ETH .

I know I could not do the mining on my own and so I fell for those mining sites that had been referred to by online friends. Some sites are still up and running but there is one that just disappeared and took all our investments. It was very frustrating although I knew back then that this could be a scam site but the hype people are bringing in every day is just so tempting not to give in.

Mine any altcoin like ETH, ETC, ZEC or XMR and trade them for BTC on any crypto Exchange. That will be profitable. For these coins you dont need any ASIC miners, GPUs are enough.
