Should we create a Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer Association? or some other rearrangement of words that can produce a pronounceable acronym?
What would be the point?
manufacturer's should participate and maybe collaborate on a few things?

what's the point of all the Bitcoin conferences?

I'm not sure of the maximum descriptor lengths over all interfaces, but here is a standard we could use for 8 characters:

XXX-YYY-ZZ

XXX= BTC
YYY= COMPANY, letters,
ZZ  = PRODUCT, numbers, 0-99

So a bitmain antminer S1 would be BTCBIT01 and a Rockminer R3-box would be BTCROC02.

There is no confusion about it being a bitcoin device, there is no confusion to what manufacturer the device belongs to and there is a simple tarriff the manufacturer submits as to what number is what product.

I've started a wiki page with advice for mining manufacturers when producing new mining hardware.
It's just a first draft at this point, but addresses many of the more common mistakes hardware has been released with in the past, as well as suggests ways all current hardware could be improved on.

Contributions are welcome, of course. If you do not already have a wiki account, feel free to post your suggestions on this thread, or request your wiki account be given edit privileges on the wiki subforum.
