LTC are a lot cheaper atm and its best time to buy them instead of all the mining hassle, and waiting for months to make ROI.

So would it best just to buy them and hold for couple years?

Well, I am not really a good guy to recommend holding for a couple years as I know little about investment

Investment = buy low, sell high  Tongue
It's some kind of gambling. Watch the LTC chart for the last 12 months, nobody knows what will happen. Like he said:

No one knows what any crypto will be like a year or even a week in the future, so all I can say is do some research and see what will work out best for you , cheers!

Important: Only invest an amount that you can afford to lose.

Well, I am not really a good guy to recommend holding for a couple years as I know little about investment, but with scrypt profitability going all the way rock bottom, it wouldnt be bad to hold some. Personally I have more holdings in btc and other non scrypt altcoins than litecoin. No one knows what any crypto will be like a year or even a week in the future, so all I can say is do some research and see what will work out best for you , cheers!

This is the suggest method - if you've got cheap/free electricity and can make a good deal on hardware, then sometimes it can be profitable to buy miners if you know what you're doing.

Just play it safe - the easy route is to buy and HODL.

Want to mine litecoins where do I start and help would be appreciated

Unless you have a mining farm and lots of capital with cheap electricity, at the high difficulties and current price I would not recommend mining if you want a profit, if you are doing it just for fun or learning however, http://www.coindesk.com/information/how-to-mine-litecoin/

Preferably with a device and a pool to mine at  Wink
Maybe you want to tell if you already have a device to mine with?
