The testnet is not designed to collect coins, it has a different purpose and was therefore created for something else. I don't know where you get the stupid idea that someone is only interested in hoarding coins in testnet. Anyway, everything important has been said, nothing more to add here at this point.

As others have said, ja you can self mine tnbtc if so inclined. But if the intention is to just collect large sums of tnbtc well, then this immediately comes to mind.... Legit testnet users do fine using Faucets vs trying to get whole test coins. That of course is the reason behind my answer above.

Of course, I did so already by sending some merits to him. And I thank you for pointing me to the right direction, your post was helpful. This has nothing to do with harsh. NotFuzzyWarm constantly sprays around with his poison with nonsense posts that neither help those asking questions, nor the community, nor those who will eventually come across the threads and looking for answers. From the content and writing style, you might even think that NotFuzzyWarm and Kano are one and the same person, at least in terms of the way they express themselves and their intentions.

Thanks again to NeuroticFish for his helpful post.

You should thank @nullama, not me. I was just lucky to know about his work/topics.
And don't be too harsh, people do make mistakes. And somehow everybody tends to assume that testnet behaves 100% identical with main net. And, well, there are some (subtle) differences, like this one.

of course it does. Everyone willing to read and learn is knowing that. As I said earlier, I am not interested in faucets, I was interested in mining on testnet. On testnet the difficulty is reset to 1 after 20min when no block was resolved. I already mined dozens of blocks meanwhile without issues. This was for learning purposes and such crap replies like those from NotFuzzyWarm are useless and not helpful for the community. Thanks again to NeuroticFish for his helpful post.

Difficulty is about 67 million, as of block 2,378,483.

According to this post, the difficulty drops on testent to 1 from time to time, allowing even slower miners get lucky now and then.

You might be wondering how is this even possible. The answer is that the difficulty in testnet3 reverts to 1 after 20 minutes have passed with no one finding a block. A difficulty of 1 is so low that any CPU or GPU is capable of hitting a block. Note that this was the difficulty of Bitcoin in the beginning(2009). More details about this can be read here: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/18554/how-can-i-find-the-real-difficulty-on-testnet

If you read that topic you'll see it was tried successfully.

As for you self mining BTC directly with your node, that was disable long long ago.
generatetoaddress works fine for me.

You wise guy, please explain to me how I can get coins on testnet if I don't want to claim faucets or if someone sends me coins for free.
It's very hard otherwise, implying that you're going to solo-mine some. Difficulty is about 67 million, as of block 2,378,483. Why don't you want to earn some for free? That's what testnet is all about. I run a faucet, don't hesitate to ask for some: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.57912622

Seems someone has no idea what testnet is for....
It is strictly for testing software so no pool solo or otherwise has any reason to use it.

You wise guy, please explain to me how I can get coins on testnet if I don't want to claim faucets or if someone sends me coins for free. It is clear that direct mining at bitcoin core has been shut down, I had explicitly written that in my post. Who can read is clearly at an advantage. But you obviously do not want to make a meaningful contribution here, you are known for that. Keep it up, just continue to make a fool of yourself with that pointless post with no quality. Save the smartass comments and do yourself and the rest of the world a favor.

There are 2 tutorials for solo mining on testnet, both written recently. One is for mining on testnet with ASIC and the other one is for mining on testent with CPU/GPU (which I was surprised to find out it can work).
I'd say you should start with those.
@NeuroticFish: appreciate the links, thanks. Will dig into them. Unlike the previous speaker, you have created qualitatively meaningful contribution.
EDIT: Great! Exactly what I looked for. Thanks a bunch NeuroticFish !

Hello everybody,

is there any solo pool available out there that allows the mining on testnet ? If the answer is no, what does it need to mining on Bitcoins' testnet ? I have a full-node running bitcoin core v23.0.0 which is synced in testnet but to my knowledge I cannot mine directly onto bitcoin core any more with the latest version? Can anyone shed some light onto, please?

thank you.
