Anyone mining on laptops on here? I'm currently in possession on two laptops with gtx1660Ti on board, I'm thinking maybe I should start mining ETH on them or what? Anyone doing this? Safe to run for 24/7 every day?
You will receive a profit of $ 7 from each laptop per day. If you are satisfied with these indicators, then give it a try.
If laptops are out of warranty, clean the cooling system and replace the thermal grease. Use high-quality thermal paste with high thermal conductivity, it will lower the temperature of the video chip. Use a cooling pad or remove the rear plastic case cover if possible.
do you know what coin that give you 7$ from laptop per day?

Profit is a very unstable indicator. On the day of the post, I looked at the site https://whattomine.com/ and the profit from 1660 was almost 7 dollars, today it is 4.5 dollars. Tomorrow it will probably be 5 dollars.
You can choose not to sell at the current price and wait for better prices, or sell half of the coins at the current price and keep the rest of the coins.

Some are doing this already but I can't because my laptop cost me a lot and also mining will wear out the laptop faster I believe, for those comparing mining with gaming it's never the same thing because you can't game for 24 hours without getting tired or even feeling dizzy so the laptop will be down for hours but mining is a different thing entirely
yeah, Mostly i agree with you. we can not use desktop computer or laptop to do some mining task anymore.
It's better to buy some mining hardware than use a laptop

I bought laptop with RTX 3070 mobile for 1700eur @63MH/s 115W versus just a card RTX 3070 that would cost me 1500eur for slightly less hash. So far mining for more than a month without problems.

nice 👍

so 30 days in and you have grabbed back a lot of the 1700 euros.

the omen 3060 laptop runs too hot 🥵 I very likely will return it once I get my alienware 3070 pc today.

the dell 5600m is tempting to keep I have not yet decided if I will.

I buy a lot a real lot from best buy in usa.

I have 45 day return privileges and I do not abuse them.

So
I ordered 8 psus with no returns
I ordered 4 ssds with no returns
I ordered 2 alienware pcs
I ordered the two laptops

and I ordered a pny 3090 gpu they fucked this order up.

but with the gear i ordered this year and no returns if i return the omen laptop it wont be an issue.
if I return the dell i should also be okay as I can say the following.

you fucked the 3090 order up so i had to buy the two laptops.

the laptops were not good enough so i purchased the two alienware pcs.

they are good and i am now returning the two laptops.

if they never fucked the pny 3090 order up i would not have had to get the laptops.  seems fair to me.

Where are you buying your stuffs philipma? eBay or Amazon? It seems things are more cheaper on there than store in my country, also it's hard to see laptops with RTX3*** here, I can only see 1660 setup and 2070

well i buy at

evga.com
bestbuy.com
amazon.com
provantage.com
dell.com
hp.com
newegg.com
bhphoto.com
adorama.com
ebay.com

I spend a few-hours a day looking for deals.

I go way back on internet pre 2000
I have multiple discount coupons

like from
 retailmenot
couponcabin
rakuten

its work.

but when you catch a good year you can do well.
this has been a good year.

I don't think it's worth buying a laptop for mining unless you have one for gaming already, a grx1660 to costs 600$+ here I'm my country and a laptop with gtx1660 ti costs double, 1100 to 1200$

If you are going to mine with a laptop, at least remove the battery if its removeable. The issue is that the high heat can cause the battery to bulge and maybe explode. Usually if its a gaming laptop they are more robust and got insulation between battery and GPU/CPUs however its better to be safe than sorry and have it destroy an expensive laptop.

Regarding power consumption it will obviously use more power than a stand alone GPU inside a mining open air rig frame. The same GPU can use 200 Watts each with a PC but in a laptop will use maybe 230 Watts because it needs to power the CPU, fans, memory, ssd, etc. Hence its not efficient mining with a laptop but its very profitable to mine these days so its still worth it.
Any laptops that have gtx1650 or gtx 1660 GPUs upward are gaming laptops and they are design to handle high temp and heat when gaming so it's roughly same hard work when mining too but some GPU are bad built so I recommend doing research on the laptops before buying

okay I have a dell it pulls 107 watts at the wall on a kill a watt plug

the omen is not as good.

the dell is earning 32.5mh which is about  5.70 a day it burns 2.56 kwatts my summer power cost is 18 cents so 46 cents

5.70-.46 = 5.24 usd a day

I paid 850 for it

so 170 days it is roi  but I have a 45 day return window I may keep the dell and I may return the omen

the omen was more costly. it all runs hot
850$ for a card that gives only 32MH? And you people are saying we are buying cards at expensive price? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is crazy mehn I think I will continue buying them cards at high cost then, 170 days to ROI isn't even up to a year God damnit

the dell with the amd 5600m cpu was very good but a 5600  real gpu does 38-41 not 33

There is one think I haven't figure out yet when seeing people mining with laptops, is the energy consumption much lower when mining on laptops compare to standalone GPU? Assuming a gtx1660 super consumes 70watts is it same on laptops too?

I have two laptops they sit on a wire rack with a box fan blowing on them.

They have

laptop 1 3060 and

laptop 2 an amd 5600

they are doing 37 mh for the 3060
and 33 mh for the 5600

the dell was a good price
Philipma you never seize to amaze me, how many Megahash of ETH you have altogether in your home?? You are even using laptops to mine? Lol anyways do you buy these laptops new or used? I'm going to a laptop store nearby to see if I can be this lucky
