First hearing that is a good idea to put the machine on a boat. But the environment and temperature you also need to consider.

A low-cost cellular aircard has plenty of bandwidth for a mining operation at less than industrial scale - even 3G.

Might end up costing more than the power cost savings though, unless you can set it up as some sort of a "shared" thing with an existing service, or you have a LOT of free power available to the boat.

Seems like a lot of trouble? Do you plan on mining only when you're around?
I guess hot spots could also work, you'll have to find a way to connect it without wires.

I think quite the opposite. He get's free power when he's docked in the Marina, is that not what he says?

It would be alot of trouble to turn it off every single time you get on your boat (I think), and you will still need a place to put it. I don't think it would be smart to put it somewhere in the sun or close to the side of the boat, since sharp temperature changes can damage it.

Hi, I have a sailboat at local marina and they don't charge for electricity at all,but.....we have no internet(!)
I try to find solution to connect S9 13.5 TH/s (1300w) to internet...
any ideas: connect laptop to cellphone.... how much data it will use.....maybe something else
Regards, Ed

High humanity or salt will kill your miner easily. If you have free electric, I recommend using Avalon 741, it is more reliable.

You mean humidity, right?  I think it will be fine as long as the device is operating since moisture wont condense on a warm miner.  Although there are a lot of beach bums by the water... they might steal your miner!  Oh the humanity! LOL

Stratum mining on Slush's pool requires about 10kB per minute.  I got this statistic when he changed over from the getwork protocol but I think it's still pretty accurate.

Don't you think a 1300 watt heater is a little excessive for a boat?  How big is your boat?
