I have 1gb ram vps from digitalocean for 1 year, but ok I'll look for altcoins

if i remember correctly those cpu are a bit worthless even for altcoin that are cpu only, and ram are useless for mining, better to use for something else

At this point they are.  Most CPU altcoins can be mined with GPU so it blows them away.

There was a period CPU mining and VPS mining was profitable but now it's very very far from that.  I remember having a lot of cores of processors during it at one point.   But again it will not happen ever again in my opinion.  VPS mining was one of the funnest types of mining there was.  Was so fast paced and like a race on coins.

the last chance to use cpu mining with vps, was with cointellect, to abuse their solo earning, that was very high( 1.5 euro with just 300khs)

vps come in handy here because of the ip, so you was like spamming multiple account, with each one earning 1.5 euro a day, was a fun ride  Grin

I have 1 year free Vps with 1gb ram and 20 ssd

learn linux, use it as private proxy or vpn...I mean mining on VPS is already dead even you had it free for lifetime.

Learning linux is not a bad idea at all.

yeah, actually bitcoin brings me to linux path and now i'm full time linux admin..even the beginnings for "windows guy" are quite painful.) and yeah, I'm missing mining, but with local 0.25$/kW fee, I simply can't afford it anymore..

Learning linux is not a bad idea at all.  Lots of things you could do easy such as using it as storage (don't store key's on it, etc).

VPS mining was fast paced and very fun.  But sadly I don't see it ever coming back.

I'm new with bitcoin mining and I would like to ask if I can mine on a VPS.

This is really more of a alt coin at this point with VPS.  Sadly CPU/GPU day's are over.   Cost just does not equal.  Even if you somehow manage a profit ROI will not happen on gear.

Now talking about VPS mining your paying a premium for that CPU and you will bring in cents most likely.  And spend dollars.   It does not equal.

If you are wanting to start without having equipment you might look at renting gear, or cloud mining (go with safe company).  And you could start with that.

You can look over in altcoins.  The problem is a lot of the one time CPU coins can be done with GPU so its like trying to race a race car vs a model T.

But look over in altcoins find a CPU coin.  Install it on VPS there are instructions for linux on most of them (I'm assuming it's most likely a linux terminal).   Make sure to get the private key backed up on your own usb drive or something you have.  This makes it where if the VPS goes down you still can get wallet.

Also it depends on VPS some will stop you for high cpu usage.   It sounds like possibly the amazon free tier if it's that no they won't throttle, but you will most likely  make cents.

The other option is look at proof of stake coins I believe they  are called that you can gain so much for running a wallet.  That is other option.
