I don't think you can get your investment back with any sha asics and cloud mining.
You may get profit with scrypt, but I am nothing really sure.

Mine altcoins, and then trade for bitcoins. Don't mine bitcoins directly should be fine.

What about cloud mining ? like cex.io

I am really curious about it too, I hope someone can answer soon because it sounds very good!

In order to make money off cex.io you'd have to invest a hell of a lot of BTC and I believe what they're doing in reality is making profit of all the people buying hashrate off their and using those profits to invest in mining equipment which they then use to mine low difficulty scrypt coins which is probably why they're being so stubborn about not putting them up, why do I think this? The maths, I don't see how they're making a lot of money from this and customers certainly aren't going to be making money from mining Bitcoins alone, the difficulty on the small coins they've added are also too high to make money off unless it's somebody who's invested a lot into it.

I recommend using a website like http://www.betarigs.com/ instead because with this you can mine any coin you want and it works a similar way, the only difference is you need to contact the person like in LocalBitcoins to get things set up.

Buy coins instead of miners = best strategy.

cex can be used to make money only if you use it as a market and see the mining as interest. IF you keep it longterm the buyback value will not be enough to make a profit. IF you can buy mine for a bit then sell at the same or slightly higher price thats where you make the profit. Its not easy since the price of GH in the long run will always go down.

What did you buy ?

What do you think about present conditions ?

Jalapeno. Now I look back at it, I should replace decent profit with small profit. Really not that much.
Looking at the present I think the initial investment has to be much bigger.
Look at this website and compare some hardware and projected break even points and profits.
Has a lot to do with the increase in difficulty which probably be exponential for some time to come.
I hate to say it because I am not a big supporter of alt coins, but I think the profits are less tight there.

When I bought my stuff in the first half of 2013, about $200.
I received it in september, and have made a decent profit since.

After reading many posts about mining , trading, buying coins, I have a single question and I hope I get many personal answers.

Which is the minim investment in a mining rig (scrypt or sha) that you think would pay off ?
