I am mining with 5 cards now.  I changed all the settings like previous attempts.  The only difference is that I am now using uefi boot instead of legacy.  In order for me to do that I had to reinstall windows as uefi.

Biostar board is on its way to me so I guess I'll have to build a 2nd rig.

Thanks you for everyone's suggestions.  It was very frustrating.

I am trying again with the msi.  I reinstalled windows this time with uefi.  I will post the results when finished.

It is good, we will wait for your updates. Update topic will give another member a solution to the same problems.

I have the same problem before, what Am doing is reset bios on the mobo (using CMOS battery, not a jumper), plug 1 GPU only and reinstall the driver, shut-down the rig and put all GPU together. in my case, this way solving my problems (1060).

I am probably gonna send the motherboard back and I have a biostar on order.  Hopefully it won't give me trouble like this one.
If you are using Biostar Mobo's for mining, such as TB250, don't forget to enable 6GPU for mining on bios.

Still won't boot with one on board and installing others one by one.

I can't  boot into safe mode for some reason either.

4G is enabled and I have tried gen1,2 and 3.

2 gtx 1070 and 3 1060.  My psu should be plenty of power for those.
Put first one graphics card in the motherboard, install drivers on it.
go into the bios, turn on gen2 and above 4G
turn off the PC, add one more card and turn on the PC
wait until the map is established.
again turn off and add the following
try one by one to add

When do I take the one off the board and put it on a riser?

Use DDU. Boot into safe mode to do a clean uninstall of all the drivers, them reinstall.

I haven't tried putting one in motherboard first.  I did one by one with the risers.  Will try later today.  Thank you.

I have 5 GPU rig (soon to be 6) that won't boot with the 5th card plugged in.  My motherboard is MSI H270 A pro.  It has the latest bios and I changed all the settings to allow for more than 4 GPUs.  It boots and mines fine with 4.  I changed risers and changed slots on board.  Sometimes I can plug in the 5th after windows is booted up and it sees it but can't update the driver.  Any suggestions?

My PSU is an EVGA 1600
In the bios settings, turn on gen2 and above 4G

Mine is set to Gen1 (not auto), and above 4G is enabled. This should solve your issues as the above post recommended. It will be located under the PCI settings.

What the series your GPUs?
- if AMD series can try reset CMOS if GPUs doens't Mod Bios.
- if Mod bios , patch using Atikmdag.
- or can lack power. You can calculate all how much power consumption would need.

I have a similar problem, i my case i did some tricks do be able to mining but i do like to boot with all gpus.
I have a computer with 6 GPUs used to mining but i am not able to boot in windows 10 with all of them enabled at same time, the trick i have to do to work with 6 cards at the same time is to start in safe mode them i disable 2 cards .
Doing this i restart the computer and them i re-enable them so i can mine with all cards, the problem is before restart or when windows crash there is no way to make it works again automatically and i need to do all this work again .
my GPUs are
1 rx 480 4gb
1 rx 570 4gb
4 rx 580 8 gb
I have 2 PSU one with 850 w with 4 cards consuming more or less 650 w
and another of 750 w with 2 cards and the system consuming ,more or less 500 whats
I do like do know if there are a way to make it starts normally without have to disable 2 cards every time.
Thanks in Advance
