What kind of humidity can you possibly have at -20C?

I had never considered bugs before, maybe something I should explore.

I don't think the mb's alone would generate enough heat to keep them at safe operating temperatures, but I am assuming that the gpu's will give off enough heat to actually get the entire temperature of the shed to increase, and there for have safe operating temps for the other components that aren't generating enough heat.

Yeah I still think things will be profitable for the next couple of months, re-evaluate then.

As for the humidity, it's hard to say what the shed is like currently without all the hardware. Would the humidity increase with a temp increase from the hardware?

Humidity is what is going to kill you.
Hm yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
I'd say you'd probably need a way to limit the volume of airflow but in a shed that'd be much more difficult.

Oh and I'd be a little worried about insects too. They'd probably like a warm and cozy shed.

Wow 30gpus we have 16 cards now ,you must have spent alot of money. Are you a bit worried about dificulty? Its been chipping away at our produce by 13% and again 13% then in 2 days 7% oO

I'm a bit concerned that we won't get our investment back 11200kh is just over 4ltc a day and declining
How long do you think it will be profitable for? Power cost is around half a LTC a day so still profit but alot spent!  Will have to keep a close eye and panic sell cards

Hello All,

I have a mining rig that I'm putting together 15+MB's 30+GPU's. I have all the power requirements figured out and everything else, since I am quite familiar with dealing with hardware and all of its...joys Smiley

However I do have one question. I have a Shed (~7ftx8ft) in my backyard that is big enough to house all the hardware, and I can run power+internet out to it. Its water treated so theres no change of anything getting wet, I am though wondering about the temperature. In the winter things can get as cold as -20C (-4C) so I was wondering if its OK to run the rig inside the shed, obviously That many GPU's, CPU's, PSU's...etc they generate heat (and lots of it). So would it be enough heat to keep the shed warm enough that is safe to continuously run these machines?

Thanks

Humidity is what is going to kill you. I have my mining rig in my garage, granted it doesn't get that cold but I keep the humidity down to reduce moisture build up and possibly causing adverse effects.

If you can supply the power, put a small heater in there with a thermostat, and set it to a reasonable temperature that way you will be certain it won't fail.

Yes the video cards will generate heat, but what about your mb, how hot will it stay on average, will the cold allow it to go below it's operating range?

Look at the spec's for the components, and go from there. I have ran servers in my shed before, but like I said, I kept the humidity down, and the ambient temperature within operating specs with a a/c or heater.

[EDIT] The inside of the shed is usually a coulple of degrees (not to many ~5C) than outside by itself
