Enermax Platimax 1500 watt and even with 2 cards artifacts already appear

It seems that there is fault on the psu side , if you have any other psu you can check with it in order to get assure that there is a fault in the psu.

Hi Bassie,

did you find a solution yet?  I have exact the same problems with this board!
Trying to get 6x R9 290 to work.
6x R9 280X are working flawless but the board seems to have a problem only with the 290's.

Hi there,

Today I was upgrading my mining rig from a single 280x and 3 7870s to 4 R9 290's. After connecting the cards to the PCIE slots (using powered risers), the computer started having some trouble. Sometimes the computer would not boot, the computer would crash after a couple of minutes in Windows or there would be a lot of artifacts (even in the BIOS and pre-windows).

Now this miner was still in use several hours ago and had zero problems and was running for 3+ days stable. The R9 290 cards have also been running in other computers and had zero problems in those computers. There seem to be no problems when only using a single R9 290 in the mining rig (but only tested this 5 minutes).

The have a Asrock H61 Pro BTC mainboard with a Celeron g1610, an Enermax Platimax 1500 and 4 R9 290s. I have updated the mainboard BIOS before trying to get the R9 290s to work, according to the patch notes update 1.20 (which was released a few days ago) was supposed to solve some PCI-E problems, but it didn't really solve my problems. I also still had a new H61 Pro BTC and switched the boards but that didnt solve the problem either and things pretty much stayed exactly the same.

So yea, can I just conclude this mainboard sucks or am I missing something here?
To sum it up, mining rig worked ok before adding 290s, 290s worked fine before placing them in the mining rig. All hardware seems to work separately, but when using more than 1 card (even when using just 2 of them) there's just artifacts everywhere and nothing works. Replaced the mainboard by a brand new one (they are actually both new), but still had the exact same problem.

Was wondering if anyone of you had a good explanation, cause I really have no idea at the moment.

Cheers,
Bassie
