Thanks for the honest replies. Appreciate the facts. I'll think about a small basic mining rig (Celeron and RX480/580).
started, you don't do it by using a laptop. Why?. Since you have a small hashrate, the laptop only has a small fan then the laptop can get too hot, will not be able to keep running (mining), and your laptop will be damaged. also, you have no profit and just wasted your electricity.
Just dont, you'll burn that poor thing up 
Please don't mine on a laptop. Laptops aren't designed for being run full speed for long periods of time as they don't have the heat dissipation abilities to do so. If you want to mine, it's 1000% better to do it on a desktop.
If you really want to mine on a laptop, limit the mining program to only one or two threads, but remember it's still not a good idea to mine on a laptop (or any mobile device) at all.

I know the specs suck for mining, which is why I'm asking about mining small coins. I know back in 2009/10 you could mine a few Bitcoins per day with a average PC. I'm looking to do the same for fairly new coins now, in the hope that they will be worth a bit more in the future, and if they don't then no loss.
What's some good coins for this, where I can mine a few whole coins a day and which have a fairly small market can. I have a MacBook Pro 2016 non-touchbar version (2.0GHz (3.1GHz boost) i5 6360U, Iris 540 graphics). And how do I get started?
