A newer PCI3 Gen 3 slot's higher bandwith would be useful for gaming only. A normal PCI1x slot has enough bandwidth already for mining. So it won't increase the card's ability to mine faster!
It's all about more slots being able to run more cards without needing additional MB,CPU and RAM. Lowering cost and quicker ROI. that's all

According to NiceHash, using a GEN 3 PCI-E lane can make a 1-2% difference in hash rate from the higher bandwidth, especially for some data transfer intensive algorithms.

We also checked with GPU-Z and all cards were successfully detected and linked with PCI-e v3.0, which is another bonus compared to other motherboards that usually work with 6+ cards only under PCI-e v1.1. The higher bandwidth speed may not look like an important factor, but the slower link can take 1-2% off of card's performance, especially in algorithms that are sending a lot of data from/to CPU/GPU.

For most algorithms I doubt it's actually a 1 to 2% difference, but it's probably not zero either.

Well, it definitely looks good but who knows how much maintenance this would require to run them stable for a longer time.

Speaking from experience, motherboards do not affect your hashrate. The graphic just shows a higher hashrate just because there are more GPUs. Dont let marketing get to you. Get whichever board is cheapest and get your ROI faster.

i read this article http://wccftech.com/asus-b250-mining-expert-crypto-mining-motherboard/
that promises a higher hashrate

You mean this graphic?

That's just claiming a higher TOTAL hash rate from being able to use 19 cards on the same rig. The 407 MH/s is also actually pretty low, since it's only about 21 MH/s for each card.

with 19 gpus on a single motherboard. the question is not the hashrate but where to find the power supply to push all those cards?

The motherboard comes with on-board support for three PSU's. One for each group of PCI-E slots.

To support such a large number of expansion slots, ASUS has divided the slots into three groups. Each group has its own dedicated 24 Pin ATX12V power supply which makes operations stable in multi-GPU use.

so i was wondering if the claim that specific boards made for ming if they are actuaslly providing better hashrates or not and by how much

For the most part, the motherboard makes no difference in a cards hash rate except where a GEN 3 PCI-E slot *may* make a negligible difference from a higher bandwidth over a GEN 1 or 2 slot. Which manufacturer claims a better hash rate from using their motherboard? AFAIK, what the mining motherboards claim is a higher TOTAL hash rate from being able put more cards on the same rig and a quicker ROI from not having to buy more motherboards, CPU's, RAM, hard drives and cases to have more cards.
