I have recently become involved with a project where they will be distributing unused "bandwidth" via the blockchain to provide a decentralized service for CDN (content delivery network) and DDoS protection.

Its an awesome idea and I am really excited about the future possibilities here.

Interested in thoughts for other services that could be possible by "mining" bandwith and providing a service.

Can't understand what you are really wish to say bro. What bandwith mining is expected to possible to do. Are you speaking about blockchain calculation in mining. However, mining topics will be good to move to mining speculation to make more money.
