I would recommend 5770 cards as you can find them fairly cheap.  (I just *happen* to have some btw, pm for details if you want.)  I really think that the 5870 is my favorite card overall, but many prefer 5830 for litecoin.  I also have a respect for the 5570 card, I have one that mines at 90mhs and it is really tiny with very tiny power consumption--impressive really.  There are also 6770 cards available cheap, which are better for gaming in theory than a 5770 but not quite as strong for just mining.

Right on, yeah I've also used poclbm with f-60 for desktop use and f-0 for over night. I find phoenix works best for this particular card. Also yeah I wish I could have obtained a 1gb gddr5 version but I found the 2gb ddr3 for 54 bucks on new egg about 6 months ago and its sole intention was for gaming. It in fact has never let me down, I can play borderlands maxed out, deus ex, few others. not skyrim tho, almost maxed. well maybe before everyone gets scammed on these asic's I can find a "slightly used" 5xxx series someone is selling for cheap before everyone wises up and buys back there mining rig  Roll Eyes . Iv almost mined my first bitcoin. Iv mined a few litecoins. and im looking in to merge mining also.

thank you both for your input. you had my undivided attention Smiley

I've got one of these(6670) in an older am2 rig, 'cept it's the 1gb gddr5 version, not that it matters for mining. 120mh/s is about the most you're gonna push outta that card.

Hello,

I mined with that card first as well.  I purchased it because it is capable of hybrid crossfire with a llano apu.  The performance gain from doing this however is fairly dismal.  I run my cards up to about 69/70, even so I was only able to get it to mine at 110mhs or so max under windows 7 64 bit.  I would say you are right on target and that usb boot is probably not worth it.  I have also heard of complications but have no personal experience mining with one.  I typically mine with -f0/-f60 on the end.  (One is for using the desktop and I change it when I go away.)

I bought my card for $80 a year ago and was very happy to find a buyer willing to pay $50 for it a couple weeks ago, lol.

Hello, I am currently mining with a hd 6670 which sole purpose was to be a cheap and lite video card for modern gaming.http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-2.html  Little did I know for 54 bucks I could use this card to start mining my very first bitcoin. I am currently running at 121.5 Mhs using guiminer-phoenix:ASKRATE=1 WORKSIZE=128 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=5. sdk 2.2 catalyst 11.4 winxp 32bit over clocked 800mhz-850mhz 667mhz 2gb ddr3.

That seems the be the sweet spot that I can find using windows xp. sdk only supports up 2.3 for xp and I read that 2.1 is fastest. personally I just used 2.2 and it seemed to yield good results. Also I forgot to add in, my aggression is 5 because for some reason that is the sweet spot being1-4,,6-13 yield no hash increase with obvious framerate drop with higher aggression. Im not sure what that means but im sure someone could elaborate to me what each level of aggression is doing to my video card and why im not seeing an increase. I dont use phatk or phatk2 kernels because they only result in drop of hash speed. From what I've gathered at wiki I should be seeing 120 so I shouldn't complain and I'm not in fact I consider myself lucky being at aggression 5 I am able to use my computer like completely normal and depending on which kernel I use poclbm or phoenix Im even able to play some games. I keep my video card under 60c being hot to me and around about 55c and under. I want to use windows 7 64bit os to mine for various reasons. I can't achieve the results in win7 as I do in xp. I am about 10-15mhs lower in win7 64bit. I would also like to consider using a flash stick to boot to for mining when Im not using the computer my only problem doing that is I have read that the number of read and writes a flash stick can do is limited. From what I understand they could wear out? Maybe this is something I read blown out of proportion? In any case this is my setup for now, I would like to start using windows 7, any sweet spots for you may work for me so im interested in whatever your running more interested if your running 6xxx most interested if your running a 66XX and you got my full blown attention if your running a 6670 2gb ddr3 800mhz core  Wink

Im just starting out, Iv been mining for a couple of weeks, done tons of homework and I wish I had at least one 5970 Smiley
Thank you for reading, and your time. I value your input and pardon the grammar and spelling errors. Tongue
