Its not worth mining anymore, years ago xmr is the best coin to mine with CPU until they change algorithm to randomx which changes everything, it's better to buy GPU and mine oh some are talking about raptoreum coin which is another CPU mineable coin you can check that out

xmrig from this source looks very suspect.

hXXXs://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/releases/
xmrig-6.16.2-gcc-win64.zip

It use several anti-debugging techniques and it opens up a remote desktop to receive a console connection and creates foregin user credentials.
It looks like it open new processes through DCOM with RPC to bypass security policies.
There is weird activity in the registery as well.

I cannot promise it's malware but it sure looks like it.
I would not dare to run this on a secure system.

That's the API, a feature of every miner, read the docs.

It's also the correct link for xmrig and xmrig has been around for a long time, has a good reputation and is open source.

There are a lot of issues with miners and malware, including a high rate of false positive AV detections
and also a high rate of real malware. It's good to be cautious and suspicious, but this one is ok.

Your advice not to run the miner, or any miner, on a secure system is good advice regardless.

I use hashvault to mine monero because it has a low fee of 0.9% and also have low payment limit of 0.001 you can use xmr to mine

XMRig is the best Monero miner I've used in the past and also the best pool I've used is MineXMR.com, this pool is very stable and active too, easy to configure like other pools out there, use and drop your feedback, also know that Monero now use RandomX Algorithm

Are you also using this XMRig that you were talking about, I actually have XMR on my bag too and I wanna mine more XMR too
XMRig is the most stable XMR Miner out there, it has better Hashrates and supports huge page on CPUs too, you will definitely get better Hashrates if you use XMrig miner, it's what I'm using to mine on my XEON server CPU
