GBM points out the enormous potential of the “Financial Innovation Program with Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Technology of Misiones” based on the large amount of carbon (approximately 400 tons) that the misionera forest captures and the enormous economic value of its environmental contributions
GBM congratulates the legislators of the Chamber of Deputies of the Province of Misiones for the approval of the so-called “Programa Misionero de Innovación Financiera con Tecnología Blockchain y Criptomoneda”.
From the Ministry of Finance, Tax Office, Public Works and Services of that province, it was communicated that said program is based on a strategic and far-reaching vision on the growing importance of blockchain technology and its financial application.
Regarding this, the province of Misiones is positioned as an innovative province that develops disruptive financial programs.
Among the general objectives, the new Law establishes three primary sets of priorities:
– Implementation of blockchain in information management within and between the different areas of government administration is an objective that responds to the need to digitize information in a reliable, transparent, secure, traceable and ecological manner.
– Creation for Misiones of a stable cryptocurrency (stablecoin) that, like other traditional financial instruments, allows the province to have another financing and transaction tool with private and public entities in the country and the world.
– Establish in a transparent, traceable and exact way (through blockchain technology) the translation into economic values of the environmental contributions made by Misiones as a provider of ecosystem resources for the region and the world. (…). This initiative aims to create a Green Certificate or Bond that, supported by the information stored in the blockchain reliably and unalterably accounts for the carbon footprint that is being absorbed daily by each hectare of misionera jungle.
– When the province begins to issue these assets, the Green Certificates, it may do so in a traditional way (through a share or a paper state bond) or, they may be issued digitally with blockchain technology.
