This won't go over very well w/ some of his base considering things are flopping back here in the economy so I bet that's a big part of his decision. It's already looking dismal for the democrats in the midterms so it's kind of foolish to seal their fate. Also, if this starts off another bogged down mission that goes on and on it will eat away at the current savings they're having by not having troops on the ground and the ability to spend that money here at home to drum up his base. Just sayin

"Advisors" on the ground means we are all ready there and very much involved. Vietnam started with "advisors" as well.

Yes, this is true but President Obamy already proved that he does not like solutions that seek to send American troops on the ground.
The decision to complete the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq a few years ago it proved this fact.

That same very fact that proves he was wrong to do so. So much so he is right now denying he ever was behind the idea... Situations evolve. If his heart is in it to save all those poor souls why shouldn't he?

President Obama refused to take responsibility for the lack of U.S. troops in Iraq, saying that American soldiers had to pull out due to political pressure from Iraqi leaders.

“This issue keeps on coming up as if this was my decision,” Obama retorted when asked if he had any second thoughts, in light of the terrorist force taking over regions of Iraq, about having pulled all American troops out of the country. “The reason that we did not have a follow-on force in Iraq was because a majority of Iraqis did not want U.S. troops there and politically they could not pass the kind of laws that would be required to protect our troops in Iraq,” he said.

I agree with you.
President Obama should try everything possible to save this people.
Just, I feel that he is calculating a lot and don't want to be to much involved in this conflict, what is morally wrong but moral and politic never go together, as we all know.

“The U.S. is weighing a military mission in Iraq to rescue thousands of Yazidi refugees, a move that risks putting American forces in direct confrontation with Sunni fighters for the Islamic State.

“The proposal is still under development and hasn’t been approved by President Barack Obama. U.S. officials said the rescue mission is one of many options the U.S. military is weighing after dropping food and water to dying refugees over the past six days.

“”People are looking at ways to do something more than just drop water and supplies,” one senior U.S. official said. “You can only do that for so long.”

“Since last week, the U.S. has sought to halt the militants’ advance on the Kurdish city of Erbil and to relieve Yazidis trapped by the fighters on a barren mountain range through a campaign of airstrikes and aid drops.

“A rescue mission could expose U.S. forces to direct fire from the militant group Islamic State, also known as ISIS, and that is a risk Mr. Obama may not be willing to accept.

“On Tuesday, the Pentagon continued to lay the groundwork for a rescue by sending another 130 military advisers to northern Iraq to develop options the Pentagon can present to the president. The team will be made up of U.S. Marines and members of American special operations forces who have expertise in difficult missions.”
