Let me start by talking about hydrogen peroxide. There's a reason. Please be patient.
One of the most powerful, natural bacteria and virus destroyers is hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) commonly called, simply, peroxide. You can get a diluted form of it in many stores, including Walgreens, Walmart and Target.
Why is peroxide so powerful? Because it easily breaks down into water and single atom oxygen (O1). O1 is highly radical, chemically combining with multitudes of other chemicals, even in small quantities. Because of this, it chemically destroys bacterium and viruses by combining with their living processes.
There is danger for plant and animal life, and humans, also, since in larger quantities, O1 can combine dangerously with their living processes as well. All kinds of info about H2O2 can be found here:

As an aside, one of the place that H2O2 is made in nature is in the upper atmosphere -

Presently, there is not enough moisture in the upper atmosphere so that enough peroxide can be made for it to be effective in killing off excess viruses and bacterium in the air, and on the earth. Yet it does this to some extent, thereby purifying nature to some extent. It is my personal thought that if we had a little more global warming, we would have more water in the air, more H2O2 on the land, and greater health all around. The better health would come from fewer harmful bacterium and viruses in our lives. Medical expenses would drop at the same time.
The point in talking about peroxide has to do with the thing that it does. What it does is to oxidize chemicals. Bleaches do the same thing, but in different ways, and often not as radically as peroxide does. And, this is where an important, mild bleach comes in. That bleach is chlorine dioxide (ClO2) -

Of course, Google "Jim Humble MMS."Basically, MMS is chlorine dioxide that is used in much larger concentrations in water, than in normal water treatment. After all, the medical can't make money off a substance that is as widespread among the people as chlorine dioxide.
