This is really weird. What does it mean when it says 7 minutes with laptop charger? Could you please explain this a bit more. Very confusing stuff.

The charging part is straight forward - there are two ways to charge this power bank, one off a normal 5v USB power source, the other using a typical laptop charger (the assumption is you have a laptop charger handy, or they may supply one, or you could just buy one if you didn't have one).  The laptop charger is much higher voltage and higher current, and they're using higher end batteries in this power bank, so it's able to charge much faster.

The confusing part is they make their measurement in numbers of phone charges, so it sounds like it's charging your phone in 7 minutes, but what they're really saying is it's charging their power bank to the point that it could recharge your phone once (but would still take as long as it normally does to charge your phone).

I think you are right on the money. The battery itself charges in 7 mins so you dont have to wait for the battery to charge in a few hours to just have backup charges. The phone is charged in normal time.

full charge of an iPhone 5 on charging of just 7 minutes from a Laptop charger.

So basically, you can charge your phone charger in 7 minutes? Why aren't they using this stuff in phones instead, huh?

I think the original poster is just mixing up the charge rate of the power bank with the recharge rate of the phone.  You could use the laptop adapter to put one full iPhone charge worth of power INTO the block in 7 minutes - it will still take as long as it normally takes to charge the iPhone.  The idea being if you had to take off, you could quick charge the bank, and bring it with you while it's continuing to charge your phone normally.

If you look at the Indiegogo campaign, it's a little bit clearer, although I'm not a fan a describing charge rate in that way, it probably makes more sense to consumers.

I am also thinking to buy one for my Samsung Galaxy. but I am looking for a power bank which can start my Broadband Device also. there we get some electronic issues some times. so can you or your friend provide a power bank which can start Broadband device without electrLetsonics ?

You will receive a backing confirmation from indigogo.

Lets help him out. We all need power banks in today's mobile world. This unique battery bank has 1500 Charge cycles compare that to the 300 cycles of other batteries, in addition it charges in just 14 mins through a laptop charger and hence you dont have to sit and wait for your backup battery to charge so you could just charge your mobile phone.

Hey guys,
This is Abdullah Soomro, I am the campaigner of Flash Pack, I saw this post few days ago when a friend of mine posted about accepting bit coins as payments for Pre-Orders, and just today when he asked me to visit here and try to answer some of your questions.

so lets begin, some one said its fake, well everyone has an opinion and I would respect that, but if that was true I would be a fraud right, so basically someone called me fraud, that's new for me but ill survive I guess its how startups learn and grow, but I can't blame you for what has previously happened on flexible funding campaigns, or even fixed funding campaign who don't deliver, for example this campaign
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/petalite-flux-world-s-fastest-charging-battery

its now over a year past their shipping date, and yet they are telling their backers to wait until they finalise the design. problem with their design is they are trying to get certifications which we skipped due to charging from a standard laptop charger which already have all those certifications on it. this just one example, and the suitable one since We don't compare to the high capacity providing battery banks. reason its a different market we are targeting. having said that I still need to answer why flexible funding, here is how it went, I went on create the technology with a seed funding from Start-up Chile, by the time we got to the launch most of the funding was spent, and there was non left for the PR/Media coverage and Advertisement,   but I still went a head to launch on , flexible funding was chosen just to be able receive orders even if they don't reach to the target, never anticipated that the campaign would be a disaster, and few days before the campaign ended I updated the backers what's going to happen and asked them to either stick with me and get the perk or refund their pledge, I doubt any of fraud would do that, or any campaign which is just looking to make some money would tell the backers to get the refund. you can view the last update on the campaign to know more about where is this heading now, www.igg.me/at/flashpack

Now the question about the charge cycles, and charge densities and number of ports,

the battery Used inside Flash Pack is A123 Systems, Lithium nano Phosphate, the best thing about these batteries is that they can be safely charged with higher currents, upto 10A , but the downside is the charge densities which is about the half the charge density of a simple li ion battery, that means for the same capacity they will be double the size, its draw back I accept that and do feel with the time Flash Pack will get slimmer,  on the charge cycles I would recommend you have a look at this, it should clarify what the term means
http://www.mpoweruk.com/life.htm

the reason behind keeping one port is to minimize the losses due to heat caused by the booster which take battery terminal voltage and provide 5V to charge you devices,

so what's the actual use case of Flash Pack, as said in one of the interviews covered by tech in asia,
https://www.techinasia.com/flashpack-power-bank-minutes

battery bank manufacturers can give you double or even triple the capacity, but that's not the point , and not the one Flash Pack is competing against , its the ease of getting it charged in minutes when you need it, and not worry about charging it one night before you are going to use it,

their are some exciting products on the Flash Pack's Product line and I am excited about it and I won't take a chance of taking $3000 USD and run away from this, do read the update on the campaign and do try to think the way Flash Pack would affect your daily routine.

just one piece of advice if you are planing on launching a crowd funding campaign don't do as I did, do hire a PR firm. I am writing a detailed case study of my experience and once its finished ill post it here for you guys.

no hard feeling for any one here,

and thank you so much for an honest feedback,

you can reach me at [email protected]

hope this answers your questions

these are all over ebay and amazon and are
much cheaper

I suppose this is faster so good for people who need it quick.

I don't think it's a fair comparison to make between the vast majority of the ones out there, and this one - which is why I used the Anker as an example, and broke down the differences.  The difference in the batteries and charge circuity is night and day - but you have to decide if the pluses outweigh the minuses for you...

That being said, unless you're a power user (haha, pun intended), you probably won't be able to justify the premium of buying this over the traditional ones that are available.

There is not much Comparison when it comes to power banks when it comes to price. They are usually the same price. The thing to look at is the battery backup time and also if it has multiple slots to charge multiple phone at once.

After 1500 recharge cycle , will that power bank be useless ? I am looking to buy a samsung 2600 mah power bank if you can confirm that it is original and it has a warranty of minimum six months .

They'll probably clarify, but typically that means it drops below a certain threshold of performance - you're buying a 2500mAh device.  In reality, when you get it, it's probably delivering 2800mAh, but over the course of 1500 discharge cycles, that will drop to 2000mAh (or some amount that is considered far enough below spec to be considered dead), at which point they consider the cells dead.  Sometimes the cells really do die, but my experience it you really have to hammer them beyond MTBF.

I don't know why you'd care about warranty on something like this - #1, it's from a startup, so they could just as easily not exist in 6 months.  #2, you'd have to fully use it more than 8x a day, every day for 6 months to hit the discharge issue in 6 months.

BTW; all the Samsung Power Packs I could see are just using the same battery type as the Anker in my previous post, so not really the same as this, and are definitely going to have a much lower cycle count.

This is so fake lmao

I doubt it's fake, but whether or not it's worth buying is the question... I also think PassThePopcorn's point about Flexible funding on Indiegogo is spot on, I've had probably 50% success on Flex projects actually delivering, whereas I'm probably closer to 80-90% on goal-based (although I primarily use KickStarter, which tends to filter projects better than Indiegogo).

Let's look at the stats, it's basically a 2500 mAh battery with higher discharge cycles (5x by their example, although annoyingly they repeatedly call it 3x) than a traditional one, for $50+shipping.

I'll compare this to the Anker Astro E1, which is 5200 mAh and available right now including shipping for $15, from Amazon.  Assuming it gets 300 discharge cycles (Anker doesn't specify, so just using the Flash Pack's numbers), that means if you replaced it every 300 full cycles it would cost $75, so maybe $10 more than the Flash Pack when shipping is factored in.  Of course, the Anker is also 2x the capacity, so much more device handling, plus the port will peak at supplying 2a of power (vs 1.2a).  Size ironically looks to be 1.5x the Anker, even though capacity is less - probably because of the different charge circuity, but who knows.

The big benefit is that it fast-charges when using the wall adapter - no real rocket science here, they're just using higher voltage and amperage.  Depending on your use case, it could be pretty convenient to have it ready to rock and roll quickly - but on the flipside, 2500mAh is pretty small, and it isn't available now, you're buying into the dream.

FWIW, the batteries they're using are LiFePO, and assuming they're using 2x lower voltage batteries, they probably have $20 alone in just the batteries, so I'm not saying the price point is necessarily wrong for what they're offering - but it runs under the assumption that you're really going to be using the device repeatedly.

I wish them luck on their project, and I think the fact they're taking Bitcoin is cool, but for my money it isn't anything compelling enough to make me pull the trigger.  I have a 20000 mAh Anker, and I doubt I have even 10 full discharge cycles on it.  It's also cool to see different incubators trying things around the world - it's virtually impossible to get hardware projects funded here in the US, everything is very software-centric.

How do you see this as fake? The funding is live on indiegogo and you can go there directly to back it and be secure. Secondly I have tested this product live the beta version of it. The guy is incubated at The Nest IO who is launching it. You can check it out here http://thenestio.com/

But I am sure you have a reason of thinking its fake, I would like to know why you think its fake so I can have him address those issues?
I personally believe all indiegogo campaigns that are funded with "flexible funding" are fraudulent in some way, on occasion there are a few that are not in this category but most seem to be. Yes backers we need $30,000 to fund this and put it into production, but if we only get $3,000 we are happy to take your money.
