Personally I think mprep does a fantastic job in the altcoin section weeding out
the garbage threads and enforcing the rules.  I have seen many threads moved
to the trashcan in that section, and it would be great if other mods would
follow suit in the others.

I have the ANN and bounty sections on ignore, and for your sanity I would advise
anyone to do likewise.  If I didn't do that, the constant bumping of the ANN
threads and the bounty crap posters would have my front page loaded with
stuff I never have any intention of reading.  It's much cleaner with those things
blocked.

The "on-forum altcoin giveaway" was posted by OP. Which means he's 100% responsible for running an altcoin giveaway in his thread. Thus the thread was closed.

P.S. Edited the lock message to clarify this.

The giveaway was posted by "MaGNeT" but the OP is "sasha35625"  Huh
Also, the OP sasha35625 didn't post anything in that thread since May.
The bounty that involved posting low effort responses (possible project names) was posted by sasha35625 in March. It doesn't matter when it was posted, as long as the rule was already in effect (it was).

If the thread clearly contains some post incentivizing other posters to comment on the thread, that should be locked and given the proper punishment. Also, you mention that other threads are locked because of the rules they've broken, and I don't see any reason why Waves' thread should be exempted in this punishment.

So if I want a thread to be closed I just have to troll on it ?

If someone in the team of the coin has some involvement in the said on-site altcoin giveaway, that would be the tine that the thread would be locked, otherwise it would be ignored.

I just think that 1 person to moderate all the Altcoins forums isn't enough, it's too hard to punish the guilties, but easier to close the whole thread.

What do you suggest then? Another mod in the altcoin section? It's not that easy to search for a mod, let alone someone with a fair judgment.

Hello,

Seems like many threads are being locked on the Annoucements (Altcoins) forum because they are breaking the rules.
I can only admit that forum looks like a jungle because of the high activity, and require a strong moderation.

But I don't understand why the Waves thread has been locked (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/waves-ultimate-crypto-tokens-blockchain-platform-1387944).

mprep, you gave that explanation:

Quote
Due to one of the in-thread bounties accepting entries via this thread (a.k.a. incentivising posting, a.k.a. altcoin giveaway), this thread is locked. There is zero tolerance for those breaking the "no on-forum altcoin giveaways" rule.

I don't think the OP and all the peoples from the Waves team broke that rule. Maybe some users does by posting.

So if I want a thread to be closed I just have to troll on it ?

I just think that 1 person to moderate all the Altcoins forums isn't enough, it's too hard to punish the guilties, but easier to close the whole thread.
