You had multibit classic. Multibit classic does not work with Multibit HD. Multibit HD does not have the ability to import private keys or a wallet.
You should download multibit classic from here: https://multibit.org/releases.html and import your wallet there. Then send all of the Bitcoin from your multibit classic wallet to a new wallet in multibit hd.
