There are many bears whose posts are not deleted.
The only ones being deleted are the obvious trolls, new accounts who repeatedly start new threads that are not just bearish but openly bash Bitcoin, spam FUD, and repeat the same misspelled exhortations to sell and abandon Bitcoin completely.
If these trolls were allowed to continue clogging up the forum with their anti-Bitcoin spam to the point of stifling real dialogue, the moderators wouldn't be doing their job.
I think that the moderators, especially Blitz in the Speculation sub-forum, are very tolerant but there has to be a limit.

If there is any banning taking place, I assume it's more to do with the utter worthlessness of the posters.

Actually I have been around for years & never made an account until now... now a short post I wrote saying mining is no longer profitable got deleted -_-

In fact it would be awesome to be able to optionally browse the forums with a "date-joined" filter. And my suggestion would be to dial it back to before the last bubble.
Ok we might miss out on a few decent more recent users, but the vast majority of the trolls and bearnoobs will go away. So that would be nice.
