Did a speed test today with CryptoNight:

Raspberry Pi 2 overclocked to 1.0 MHz
Running cpuminer-multi 1.3.3 on Raspian
Hash rate was 5.28 H/s

Raspberry Pi 3 overclocked to 1.2 MHz
Running cpuminer-multi 1.3.3 on Raspian
Hash rate was 5.84 H/s

Note: both Raspberry Pis have active cooling. Without a fan on them, they both will over heat and throttle the clock speed down. The Raspberry Pi 3 already has a passive heat-sink on it I bought for $5.00. Need to add the cost of a fan to the Raspberries price.

On www.coinwarz.com mining Monero, this works out to $0.07102 / day. The ROI is 830.6 days, or over 2 years. The Raspberry Pi would be over 20 years Sad

I have been mining VRM (scrypt:1048576) for a few months now on Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. I get 1.83 hash/sec on a Pi3 and 1.12 on a Pi2. Current exchange rates gets me $0.25 per month for the Pi3. Didn't factor in power costs. In a year I might be able to buy a cup of coffee.

The Pi3 was $35, SD card $8, power supply $11 for a total of $54. I just bought a HP Compaq 8000 Elite 3.0GHz C2D 2GB 250GB from https://www.tanga.com for $57.99.

The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Processor 3.0-GHz, 6M L2 cache, 1333 MHz FSB will outperform the ARM processor by an order of magnitude. Pull the drives out, do a disk less network boot, maybe power two of them with the same power supply. That would be a more interesting (or profitable) mining experiment.

Guys, this topic look interesting. How you guys going? Just wonder 1 Ras has how many hashrate and does the hashrate multipled by the number of Ras or not?

Hey bad_taste,

I actually have started to dive into this. I am trying to build a Manero mine off the Raspberry Pi Zero with a group of people.

I was using a site calculator (https://www.cryptocompare.com/) to try and find other Alt Coins to mine; however, Manero is still looking like the best as of this past weekend.

I was using the settings from this site as my primary input: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/3165/what-hash-rate-can-a-raspberry-pi-achieve-can-the-gpu-be-used

Until I actually run the test I won't be able to get an accurate hash rate because the estimated hash rates on the interwebs are across the board.

I am planning on spinning this up sometime this week on an overclocked Pi Zero. We will see how this works....

If you have any info I would be glad to hear it.

Hi, everyone! I have heard more than once on various blogs or forums that it is profitable to mining monero using a CPU rather than a GPU. In practice, this was not confirmed on the home computer. But what can come out, if make a powerful cluster from raspberry pie's and mining monero on it? Does anyone have experience in this area? And can there be any alternative to a monero that would can be more profitable?
