I would learn such courses. This is more interesting than what they teach in my college. Moreover, such a promising technology and knowledge of it will always be useful.
Surely having blockchain as part of our educational course will be a very big help to open the minds of the people about the true value of blockchain and to finally discover that bitcoin and the rest of the cryptos are not a scam. This will be very useful to prepare us to be competitive too with the fast technology that keeps on arising every year.

I wouldn't mind if in my time at the university or high school, began to teach the blockchain technology as a compulsory subject. But it's very important that the teacher is able to interest the children or students in this subject. In this case, the chances of increasing the fact that in the future a large number of people will correctly use and understand the technology. So in my opinion, the Filipinos are lucky.

I think education is good idea so many people learn about Cryptocurrency not only in the Philippines but also to some country that developing their country. More knowledge and learning about crypto will be good for every body so we can face anything will happen in crypto and also they can manage what they have in crypto.
I agree with you that it is better to have education so that it is clear that everything is not only known because on the internet. And of course when there is education everything is easily obtained easily without looking at various sources. like this that must be copied by other countries to make it easier for someone to explore crypto.

this is very good for the development of blockchain in the country. with the government supporting it, of course formal education will accelerate people's knowledge of the blockchain, so they can develop it

Well corrupt politicians will not allow this because of block chain technology that can provide transparency in every transactions and they could no longer make some money from it. These politicians make laws and everything.that hinders from their corruption business will not be approve.

I am also from the Philippines but think of it about the FOI law or the Freedom of Information does it working well? No, because their corruption will get compromised.

Yeah, it's true. I hope many countries will try to implement this idea because I believe that in the future. Cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology will be part of our lives. It's better to implement this so that most of the people have an idea about this technology.

I think just organizing conferences to enlighten people about the blockchain in Philippine might not be able to help so much, I think the best thing to do is to startup a blockchain academy for Philippines were they come and learn about the blockchain to its fullest, you can do it like udemy academy and issue certificate to students who would be able to pass the exams and graduate from the blockchain schools, I believe this way is more effective and it would help create more awareness about crypto than just hosting seminars.

I think its a long shot, formal education means incorporating in the school system.
But on the business level, companies should consider it for their internal operations.
Union Bank of the Philippines is currently developing a blockchain technology to advance their internal operation.

I think the Government, together with the Academic Institutions, having realized the immense benefits and importance of Blockchain technology, should kickstart a nationwide consortium to formalize blockchain technology education in the Philippines. And also, it would have a big impact to the Filipino crypto community and once implemented even with just a few pilot Colleges and Universities, it could achieved milestones in blockchain tech know-how and adoption.

To be a good programmer one has to be exposed to different like minded programmers within one's environment. Bringing a formal education of blockchain to the society is a major step for the Filipino's community in these competitive world. The major concern of mine is that the individuals that will gain this experience should be positive enough in giving back to the society which they originated from by bringing in more exposure and uniqueness of blockchain to their communities.

I mean yeah technology is important to learn but there's no need to make it mandatory.
Education about blockchain tech definitely does not need to be mandatory.  There are lots of other things that kids/young adults should have to learn, like parenting skills, money management, health care, and other practical topics that would help them in everyday life.  Blockchain education might be an excellent elective course, but given that it's very new and hasn't been widely adopted, I don't see it as something everyone needs to learn about.
Good thing to be focused on rather than on choosing Blockchain related course but if its just optional then it isnt really that a bad idea.It might be new but building or gaining out
some knowledge towards it would really be an advantage for learners compared to those normal citizens who doesnt have much awareness on this tech's existence.

That's awesome, and it's at least a good start.  If Filipinos are using bitcoin/blockchain tech as much as I hear they are, it's great that something like this is being offered at the university level.  I hope it's a popular course.

The people of Phillippines are leading in the community of cryptos.
I think that in general we need more education about the blockchain technologies in every country around the world and by that I don't mean only coding education. Every people should know how this technology works and what are the benefits of it.
True. Since we are heading into a digital age so people should also know how to adopt its fast changing world. Education for blockchain technology could be a big help to prepare people how to use bitcoin properly and even some crypto coins that will surely be useful in the future.
formal education is the basic education needed before practice in the real world, namely the use of the blockchain itself. with formal education, of course people will learn correctly and sequentially about blockchain, so that it can be applied well later
There are so many website now where we can take knowledge and information about the blockchain, now blockchain is the mostly used wallet which has very good features and it can keep our investment safe for long term that no one can take it away, we only need to guide those who are in need to educate about it, blockchain has all security feature.

This is a positive step for the Philippines. Far too many people in the Philippines and Southeast Asia are unbanked, so by learning more about blockchain technology the people will have more say in their own and community's finances. For far too long the major financial institutions have ignored the needs of the world's poor. Also, kids should be taught to program to prepare them for the digital age.

Never thought the learning of blockchain to students would start in the Philippines. I have never heard of any stores or any news about anything where Philippine stores are accepting BTC or crypto, why do they have to make it available in the universities when they weren't even one of the countries that are aggressively using blockchain on their technology.
Because we need to be more knowledgeable about cryptocurrency and this is the future currency so why not make it available to the top universities here in the Philippines. NEM Philippines are the one who are actively making cryptocurrency a more friendly to Filipinos. I don't know if the Philippines is the first country to make blockchain technology available in universities but a simple move like this is already a big help for the market.

NEM is all over even in other less progressive countries. They always have a group to promote their own. What I do know though is that the southern philippines has more development with blockchain than near the capital Manila. Cagayan City is more aggressive on blockchain projects which they do have a a blockchain hub, seem a fitting place for universities to have their courses available.

This is actually interesting. With the growing demand and increasing reputation of cryptocurrencies, having formal education reflects on how the country is adapting and progressing towards this change. Soon enough, college universities would offer elective or alternative classes specifically for cryptocurrencies.

My only concern is instead of focusing on cryptocurrencies, why don't we shift our attention to the overall education of Filipinos? Most of the children living in poverty are neglected of education and this may cause a significant impact on the country's overall development in the future.

I think education is good idea so many people learn about Cryptocurrency not only in the Philippines but also to some country that developing their country. More knowledge and learning about crypto will be good for every body so we can face anything will happen in crypto and also they can manage what they have in crypto.

Overall, learning about the blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general is essential as we would adapt to this kind of transaction method in the future. Not only it is important but crucial in order to progress in terms of economic standing and overall effect.

You do know that education is a very broad term. Moreover, trust me, educational institution isn't actually the best place to learn about crypto currencies. On average, most of the educational institution are just a place were people are forcefully fed with information that they can not process. They are also forced to study from a defined box of information which is actually a bad thing.
People will need to spread the knowledge about this technology in every way possible which will eventually rise an interest in those youngsters mind.

To provide a formal education regarding blockchain technology in the Philippines is a good idea especially that one of its purpose is to make the Filipinos globally competitive in such field. And its good to know that there are already institutions which offer workshops about such. (Looking forward to attend to one)

I really hope the Philippine government through CHED and TESDA consider this inclusion in the education of students, not necessarily as a course but even just as an elective because this will surely open their minds on what this generation holds when it comes to finance matters. And also to inform them well about blockchain and to stop the stigma that its just a scam.

It would also help the growth of cryptocurrency in every country if huge universities would offer that course.

Just by seeing that the news is about Atene De Manila Univesity (ADMU) offering a blockchain related course as an elective shows that we are still far from seeing it be offered for the masses. ADMU is one of the most known private universities in the Philippines and seeing that it started on one of the top schools shows no interest for the government to start it offering to public schools. This kind of education being offered to the masses would only be available depending on how the crypto industry will be successful in the Philippines.

Do not expect our Government to support cryptocurrency, as long as there is no major adaptation from other country our country wont took action regarding this matter. And regarding to the course, I think it is better if the ADMU will put it on as subject and not a course like putting it on to computer studies or other courses because it will educate more students.

Philippines known as one of countries which is good environment for bitcoin. By giving more formal blockchain education for its citizens then Philippines can be the number one country which dominate cryptocurrency market because it will show seriousness of this country, I think it can also make more investors invest in Philippines. I agree to you, if the government are continuously focusing on the improvement of the blockchain education in the Philippines. Well, block chain is relatively good. But, I do.not know if the DepEd and CHED would allow this to happen for they are implementing the curriculums and it has undergone studies before implementing it. Teachers also needs a training or experience for this. No one can teach without knowledge or learnings about block chain.

All in all it may be good to integrate block chain in every system but not the cryptocurrency. There are many crypto tagged as scam except for.bitcoin and other strong crypto. Usually airdrops are scam and lead one to invest in it after one receive it. So, this must bw regulated first and other problems related to cryptocurrency.

It is not only needed for Philippines, rather it is required for every developed country as well. Blockchain is still a very new technology and we don't yet have a formal education available around it. It should start from high school level because the students need to have a certain level of IQ to understand it properly.

It will also help to reduce a lot of misconceptions around crypto because crypto is the first ever real life use case of blockchain. At least some people will stop calling it a ponzi scam of they educate themselves with this technology. It's the need of the hour!
I agree. The world needs something like a formal blockchain education because not only the philippines need it but the entire world. Your opinion about the misconception around cryptocurrency is for me a very accurate opinion related to this topic as it will literally helps newbies and other people reduce their number and in return increase the number of educated enthusiasts around the globe.

The Philippines as a country that supports crypto currencies must have an easy method to provide an understanding of crypto to its citizens. for socialization like this many countries provide understanding to their citizens about crypto currencies, things like this are very important for the smooth running of the business world.

We are a third-world country, that will be difficult.

As I said, we are a third-world country. We do support, even regulated Bitcoin in our country but the thing is that we can't still support people on using it. I mean not all of the people here can already use a mobile phone. Yes, we can just teach them but there are a lot of things to teach and I think it will be so hard to be used still. People would listen more to construction jobs rather than on cryptocurrencies.

This kind of education will help all Filipinos to become competitive in the filed of blockchain technologies. I hope this kind of education about blockchain technologies will offer in all university so many people will become more educated and knowledgeable in crytpocurrencies.
I doubt if that would help a lot to most Filipino from a third world country. I think it would just create confusion to the students once it is being offered in their courses. If there is a country that would apply blockchain education i think the Philippines will be the first one to use it, if the government would accept it as part of the course.

The sign of crypto currencies on Philippines is positive because governments thinks this can give earning money opportunities since their government is struggling to give it.

Blockchain may implemented on many fields only when the people knows its application for that we need to teach them about from early days, just gets prepared for the next generation.

I feel like living in that country. Where the state and its government strongly support the new technology created. We all know, it is very difficult for a country to be able to support new technology even though the technology has tremendous benefits. However, a country has broad consideration to support a technology because the government must think of its future impact on the country's progress from the acceptance of the new technology.

While venues for blockchain education are available in the Philippines, formal blockchain education offers from educational institutions would make the country be at par with global blockchain development.

This kind of education will help all Filipinos to become competitive in the filed of blockchain technologies. I hope this kind of education about blockchain technologies will offer in all university so many people will become more educated and knowledgeable in crytpocurrencies.
This won't be a problem if a person's interest in on this one, even if we have this kind of education every person's interest will have a huge impact on every learners. We can just learn it on the internet but it has limits just like language barriers we can't just identify some of the words on english in our term. It depends on the person's interest if they are curious enough to learn it.
I think with the guidance, especially formal, our knowledge will be more complete and ready to plunge into the world of blockchain. therefore if the country really wants to introduce blockchain, formal education is a good choice

The Philippines as a country that supports crypto currencies must have an easy method to provide an understanding of crypto to its citizens. for socialization like this many countries provide understanding to their citizens about crypto currencies, things like this are very important for the smooth running of the business world.

Blockchain development course program available for enrolment in different countries might be a great idea for the blockchain to be known worldwide. Making it very much available would make the blockchain community bigger and wider. The more people entering the blockchain technology community, the more great people and developers present.

Having such program in the Philippines is a good start for the country to inform the people of a great technology. This might produce great blockchain progremmers.

That’s a great move and it can help many students to learn more about blockchain technology in the right way. This should not be only in the Philippines, this kind of education can also be done in some countries. If I could also time for this, I will enroll myself since there’s no things like this before, its great for the next generation.
Yes.This will really help millions of people especially those who are in stone age who would really find it hard to cope up with the fast changing technology we are facing right now,the blockchain.I think this should be realize not just in Philippines but all over the world so that we should be aware on proper usage of blockchain once it will be fully adopted by all governments.

Yes, there’s already a subject of blockchain technology in one university and I think, they really focused on learning how to adopt new technologies like this. Its a good process to learn more about blockchain and I think more interested students will enroll in this subject.

Very good for the progress of every country, especially developed countries, to always rise together with the countries that first developed blockchain technology, indeed this technology is very new in everyone's mind but the benefits provided are very good if managed very well, by therefore, I think all need blockchain education in each country to produce a mature and good generation with the effectiveness to further develop uses more than one step now, I am sure it will have a positive effect in the future so I strongly support such a mission.

I could add not only in Philippines, not only in blockchain. Kids everywhere need more formal education on tech, including blockchain, from 3-4th grade worldwide if they want to cope in this new world. Imagine tech in 10-15 years and remember what was 15 years back.

Formal like a course? Since CHED and TESDA was mentioned, Id rather choose to include it on TESDA courses list rather than implementing it as a regular subject in entry levels. But honestly there are lots of blockchain related meetups and seminars already that being held throughout Manila.

There is also a project (will not mentioned the name to not looks like Im promoting it) that always do regular blockchain summit in several universities here. I see them on top schools helding some blockchain related seminars. The purpose is to teach students the fundamentals of using blockchain technology (aside also from promoting the use of their coins).

I know some people who attend those. I didn't since they seem to be mor a platform for pre-selling some alts. If people got burned from investing in those I think it might even negatively affect the image of cryptos in the country.

Blockchain education like this is indeed one of education that indeed must be included in the curriculum at the university considering that along with the development of banking technology, cryptocurrencies have now begun to be used as a commodity for investment and even payment instruments. Therefore education in the university about blockchain and cryptocurrency is very much needed now so that all people can get to know this technology.

over the years cryptocurrencies will be one of the essential thing in the market and in the technology of blockchain and in the near future it will be used in many establishments therefore people must be aware for the used of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

There are probably courses already but they are indirectly related to bitcoin. Developers who know javascript, solidity, etc.. will be able to create dapps. Anyone learning about economics will probably have a bitcoin module, just not an entire course devoted to it

It is not only needed for Philippines, rather it is required for every developed country as well. Blockchain is still a very new technology and we don't yet have a formal education available around it. It should start from high school level because the students need to have a certain level of IQ to understand it properly.

What's the reason for this? I mean yeah technology is important to learn but there's no need to make it mandatory. Just like social media right now, or probably the internet. A lot of people know about it but they don't have to learn about TCP/IP and so on. I think blockchain education doesn't need to be formal unless we're talking about creating a new field of job in blockchain development.

This just goes to show how friendly are the institutions and the governments toward cryptocurrencies and the blockchain revolution. Seeing how many competitive developers and programmers are situated in the Philippines, I guess this is also a nice program to include for the government on their advanced tech-voc courses. It opens up a huge opportunity for people who are already in the field of programming and may also bring more profits for the government, too. Should this development accelerate its phase, I guess the Philippines will be an important blockchain hub in the near future.

I think education of what blockchain is and how it could help the whole world is needed globally.

Normally, blockchain is something that could change so many things and it would help the world immensely but people of the world are still blind to the benefits of blockchain. This is not a Philippines problem but this is a global problem.

We need to also fund something like blockchain school that helps everyone in the world learn bitcoin and crypto in general and also blockchain. That way we would have a foundation that will go around the world (or have people around the world) that is paid by the big crypto companies that tries to go around and teach people what blockchain is and what crypto currencies are and how it could help them. It would make so much difference in the world.

Philippines is one among the country that has got more number of cryptocurrency userbase, this will make the blockchain technology implemented on each and everything in the future. For the same rather than find the formal education keeping yourself updated through these online programs as mentioned in the article seems to be the wise decision. If one is waiting to get formal education his success gets postponed, it is our responsibility to learn as much with what is available.
with the increasing number of users of bitcoin, indeed it is indirectly an insistence on the government to take policies so that cryptocurrency can grow optimally in that country. and it is hoped that the people will prosper

Funny that the article mentions about UnionBank’s Blockchain Institute, because last week the bank says that they're going to released a crypto ATM, so it looks like Union Bank is really leading the way, specially for the banking sector in the country. I agree, that there should be a formal blockchain education, as this is the hottest technology globally. I will compare its infancy in the country similar to the IT sector in early to mid 90's in the Philippines, only a few universities offered Computer Science course until it break some grounds and more and more students enrolled and become good programmers (and hackers) in the country and abroad. And I'm sure in the beginning, this course is very expensive and only a few enthusiast can really enrolled to this Universities and Institute.

It will also help to reduce a lot of misconceptions around crypto because crypto is the first ever real life use case of blockchain. At least some people will stop calling it a ponzi scam of they educate themselves with this technology. It's the need of the hour!
I like your point of view, that was mostly people think here in the Philippines that Bitcoin is a part of ponzi scam. Before there's a bigtime scammer caught in authority last two years if not mistaken, that's I think the reason some people always thinking Bitcoin is a scam they didn't know the real value of blockchain.

Well, that is a piece of good news though, for me, if people here are fully knowledgeable enough on blockchain and crypto for sure it takes massive adoption.

Well, i think most of people's mindset about crypto is also like this, but sometimes crypto system also act like ponzi. Make people FOMO about one thing and then the demand will slowly going down. I think education just via online is enough, no need to be a department to solve problem like this. We don't have to force people to enter crypto market.

It's a good idea. Seeing the advantage of blockchain education for the country's economy then why not suggest it be included in the curriculum in college or in economic subjects and courses, this way, it will be formal and compulsory for every students to take in college or even in lower education. Philippines neighboring countries are already advancing in technologies and much more in blockchain technology so the Commission on Higher Education must give a thought on this.
