this seller has added an additional image that shows the edge where it states it is silver. But I believe EOD stated that all 2018 were silver

edit

https://www.ebay.com/itm/265678699381  -- I offered the seller $20 for the coin as it is only silver plated - he accepted. I wonder if they will continue to list additional ones as "999 Silver" when they are not.

So first editions are all silver and edge should be numbered? Second editions not silver and no edge marking? Should be easy to prove. Although i see all the second editions all say 999 silver. At least 3-4 people selling these now on the bay

Yes and yes.
From what it seems, the people selling them were just uninformed... I don't think anyone is/was trying to be nefarious.

perhaps not initially but after being told - why would they not edit the listing and correct it? I messaged one guy and he was like "oh ok, thanks" and lowered the price by $10 but still has it listed as 999

as far as I can tell neither seller is removing the 999 FS though they can not prove their coins are actually the silver ones and both have acknowledged this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/143931769644?

the one above is also being sold as "pure 999 silver"

I asked the seller to add images of the edge

what about the 2018 ones? were they numbered? were they split between solid silver/silver plated?

I see lots of those often going between 250-300 ea as well.

The first edition are all 999 silver. There were 300 made and they have edge marks numbered 1-300.

They both say "Est. 2018" since that's what SFBW was established, but the first edition was minted in 2018, the second edition minted in 2019 to clarify.

Hey everyone, blast from the past! Never imagined these would be resold on Ebay. Was simply an idea we had to incentivize ticket sales for our conference and offer a momento to the speakers who attended the event.

We made 50 that were pure silver, they are numbered 1-50 on the edge of the coin. I can't see the edge from any of these pictures on Ebay but that's what you would want to look for. The other 160 were simply silver plated and do not have anything on the edge. Really hope you're able to resolve with the seller!

my guess not fakes - that these are the 160 non-pure coins that are being sold as the pure silver ones.

Who would go through the effort to fake this coin?

Weird you would make some pure and the others not. Especially if your only saving 10% of silver. I guess the real question is are they original or chinese knock offs. Also the lack in silver content consistancy is concerning.
  Are the weights equal?

Unable to weigh original since in slab... but the one from ebay weighs about 27.18g / 0.959oz
If anyone has an original not slabbed and can weigh it, that would help Smiley

I would suggest anyone who bought one to contact seller for a refund based on the fact that coin advertised is not what is being delivered.

is the first one in your picture numbered or marked?

No, not marked in any way to indicate 999 silver.

I was able to find the original one I bought here on the forum from Eodguy149....
It does test as 999 silver.. see below
So guessing the sales on ebay are the "other" 160 coins that are not pure silver..  Huh
Contacted the seller to see what they say.
Also sent Eodguy149 a PM to see if they can clarify this.

I bought this coin from ebay recently... and have been told by a few other collectors that they have also bought this coin.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/265678699381
https://www.ebay.com/itm/265674236625

I tested it with a Sigma Metalytics metal tester... and it comes back as less than 90% silver.. but that may just be the plate, as it doesn't measure on any of the other silver ratings.

Just wanted to know if other people have bought this coin...

The original was made by Eodguy149 and could be purchased here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/wts-sf-blockchain-week-coin-5188612

210 coins were made total but only the first 50 are pure silver and numbered.

Not sure what the other 160 coins were made from, but these ebay ones are not 999...
