It is quite difficult to determine which place is the most important in the world since we all have different perspectives and have our own definitions and standards when determining if something is really important. The correspondent's statement which you have quoted may have been said because the correspondent might be a person who values nature and greenery a lot or is at least fonder of it than anything else. In contrast, if you ask a businessman which is the most important place in the world, the answer will be different. The same goes when you ask a gambler, an artist, a fighter, etc., etc.

I doubt there happens to be a most important place in nature. For every shift in the natural occurance of an event, there always would be an adjustment to replenish what is lost or what shift might have taken place. That's why, we've got circles about everything or element there is.

I say again, there isn't a most important place but, we could have a most important element and that is, water. Water is life and as science has it, water covers about 70% of the earth's surface, its biome is yet to be fully explored and biomass classified completely.

It is the one thing that all nation collectively seeks to preserve as, a pollution in an angle can be transferred to a far distance country and the effects are never stagnant.
These are some of the reasons why, I think water stands out although, as an element rather than place on earth to be of great importance.

When we mention Amazon I thought that amazon is a name of brand not knowing that amazon is like a place to live, before I was thinking that amazon is a company that produces different brand or products, i will like to see a picture of Amazon should Incase when domination of place to stay should come out as interview then I confidently select Amazon.

As our faces are different so is our tastes, fantasies, ideologies and the most important places in the world. I have never really given it a thought before now. But thinking about it now, it has to be the beach, for me. I love to watch the waves, always marveling at nature. The way the ocean tumbles water, it always seems magical for me to behold.

To be honest, I don't really understand what you mean in this thread. but if it refers to your statement which relates about nature, and I connect it with the most important place on earth. then I assume that this thread refers to the lungs of the world, I will quote what you wrote "a correspondent made a statement claiming that the most important place on earth is the Amazon". yes, that's absolutely true. the world community is very familiar with the Amazon in Brazil, which is nicknamed the world's lung region. this wilderness that is still beautiful and maintains its existence contributes to the breath of life for the sustainability of this earth.

I mean, trees or forests, nature, are the lungs of the world, because trees are one of the largest oxygen producers in the world, where oxygen is a basic need in human life. if the Amazon is the lungs of the world, then our country is the heart of the world. because, our country is also one that includes wilderness, nature, everything in it. so is the Amazon the most important place in the world. yes, and our country too. therefore, our duty is to take care of this world as well as possible for the benefit of humans themselves.

I guess the reason why that correspondent gave "Amazon" as the most important place on earth is simply because it's a rainforest which exposes you to nature, and other reasons listed below which I got from a website whose link provided below.

In my own opinion, I don't think the reporter can sufficiently justify and satisfy us her reasons for such conclusion. Because indeed, every place of the earth is as important as the other.

In fact, I feel like trying to give preferences or importance to a place or region of the world than the other is the Genesis of the discrimination we face today. For example, saying one nation is more important than the other or one race is more important than the other, all starting from giving preferences to a place of the earth.

Every place of the world is very unique and that's the beauty of nature. And when you talk about the mineral resources deposited on the earth, it also defers across different places and people place importance on them based on their needs.

The Amazon is also unique in its contributions to the wellness of the earth crust. It helps stabilize the climate with around 76 billion tonnes of carbon is stored in the Amazon rainforest.The trees in the Amazon also release 20 billion tonnes of water into the atmosphere per day, playing a critical role in global and regional carbon and water cycles. So in conclusion, every part of the earth is a creation of nature that was perfectly carved out for its own unique purposes and is as important as the other part of the earth, just like oceans are equally very important place on earth as life itself started from water and the aquatic life, phytoplankton, are the basic/primary producers of food in the ecosystem.

I personally think the Amazon may not be the most important place on earth. Because place, time, individual important places are different for different people. Suppose the most important place for a child is his home. Again the most important place for a patient is the hospital. The most important places to a travel enthusiast can vary. Many people have only heard the name of Amazon and may never have seen it. So how can Amazon be the most important place?

That's just her speaking with her opinion about Amazon as the most important place on Earth. It's because of the biodiversity that can be found on that river.
But then, there could be some other place that's more important than it. Anyway, we could all agree that the most important is dependent on what we think and what we're advocating. If we're nature lovers then Amazon can be really said to it. But then, if you like into commercialize or finance then you'd say that it could be Wall Street. Again for me, it varies from where we're living and what we're living with.

Ironically, I had a college companion that some years ago moved to the United States and spent some weeks in Las Vegas. Of course, I was happy for him and he seemed to be very excited about it.

After he got there,.he told me that the experience was rather underwhelming, because the only thing that was worth it as the Strip or the downtown area of the city, the rest of it was mostly empty, it was not the big city he had in mind, but rather casinos in the middle.of the desert.

Perhaps, movies, shows and general culture have us gotten used to the idea of Las Vegas being better than it actually is in real life. Who knows.

From my understanding of your content I've not seen or I can not give anyone a description of a particular place that is more qualified for someone to live on Earth or do other things the each situation is the same thing in everywhere but it depends all our thinking and whatever thing we feel like establishing or doing in that particular environment that is only thing that differentiate the Earth where you can dwell

Of course, those nature lovers will always choose green sceneries for their own choice and the gambling addict will not dream of anything other than going to Vegas and we already know the reasons for that. As for me, I don't want to go anywhere far from my wife because she is my world and my comfort place, if she wants a vacation to Japan, Singapore, or any part of the world, we always go together and whenever I'm with her, I feel like as if I am in a better place.

There is no doubting the fact that, Amazon is one of the world's most attractive places on earth with its best natural endowment but we still have other locations around the world that are also appealing for tourism and human inhibition and we have a good number of them around the world and even in my country we have a location that is called Obudo cattle range and this tourism location is one of the most sort after tourist locations around the world it inhabitants comprises of people from all over the globe.

And it ranks among the world's best locations, but I don't think it can be rated with the Amazon, since I believe Amazon already made the Guinness Book of Records if I am not mistaken.

Amazon is found in South America and comprises Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Columbia, and Ecuador. Amazon it's a major tropical rainforest of community type.

According to what I can infer from the correspondent's meaning, the Amazon region's surrounding natural beauty makes it an essential location on Earth. Even though this may be the most important location for him, I don't like the idea of applying his conclusions to the entire population where he has been, that Amazon is the most important place on Earth. To me, this is just an exaggeration, not the well-proven fact that Amazon is everyone's most important location.

I love reading documentaries too, especially about science.
The reason Amazon was referred to as the best place to be is that the place there can be referred to as a "Planet healthy habit". The color is greenish, never disrupted by human behavior or climate change.

Everything is so pure and natural. It's a beautiful sight to behold.

I'm not a fan of science and I have to at least insure myself in advance of some possible problems of life directly (human instinct), so I won't mention a place like a forest or historical relief buildings.

I think the reason they say that the Amazon is the best place on Earth is because nature there is still somewhat virgin. There are some places in the Amazon that have not been trodden by humans yet.

In the Amazon Basin, for example, the Yaulai Bechi tribe lives in the commons era, meaning that they are still living primitively and have not yet known human civilization.

I think the Amazon was chosen because of a very high number of species living in that area. It's called one of the most biodiverse place on Earth, so losing that area would make enormous impact on our ecosystem.
Can we really call one place the most important and another not important? I don't think so, because the coral reef is also diverse and produces a lot of oxygen, in fact the most oxygen is produced under water. I think that what areas are important is up for discussion. We probably wouldn't exist if any of them got nuked.

Well, the main difference is that if the Amazon rain forest disappeared, it would be a very serious environmental disaster which could endanger countless species in the South American continent and it would negatively impact the chances of the Humanity to survive in the long term. On the order hand, if the Pyramids or the Great Wall disappeared, it would be a negative impact on the history and culture of humanity but we could continue to exist in the long term without them.

Realistically, It would be more likely others to consider the Mecca or Jerusalem the most important places on the planet, rather some historical monuments.

According to the guy in charge of the documentary, Amazon is the most significant location on the planet.  It is challenging to declare a specific location to be the most significant location on the planet because the response will vary depending on personal viewpoints and experiences. The most significant location will differ for different people; for some, it may be their house or place of worship; for others, it might be the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Egypt, etc.
The most significant location on earth may ultimately vary depending on the desires and experiences of each person.

Sincerely speaking, have never thought about this anyday in my life, Have never thought about the most important place on Earth, not to talk more of saying it might be Amazon, I must confess we learn everyday, and have learnt from this trend now, I had to go and make researches on goggle on the most important place on Earth, though have not really gotten the answer to be Amazon, but I will keep searching and come back to this trend to give my answers properly...

Most of the world's rainforests have been destroyed due to industrialization and urbanization. This has harmed the environment. It is generally believed that the destruction of the ecosystem by industrial activities is the cause of global warming and other natural disasters. Currently, the Amazon rainforest is the largest natural habitat in the world. And it is one of the biggest contributors to the balancing of the ecosystem. This is why developed nations heavily pay nations like Brazil to ensure that the Amazon is allowed to exist and to avoid deforestation. Brazil usually uses the Amazon as an economic and political instrument to seek the attention of the industrialized nations.


There might be other important places that affect our lives positively but the most important place to me is my country. Yes, the world is a global village where every nation is interconnected and interdependent. The political or economic problems in any country will affect me indirectly, but if it is within my nation, I will be affected directly. I have always prayed for world peace but I am more concerned about peace in my country.

There is no single place which outweighs other places, the planet as a whole has been in an equilibrium with every part of nature in balance ^{until humans appeared}.

Are we now taking every correspondent word literally as an absolute truth? There are several document makers with different agendas. But i agree it's important.

He/she could have meant that they contain ton of unexplored plants, insects and wildlife that could expedite medical break troughs. Or maybe that it's on the brink of doom because people are cutting it down. Also you didn't specify that to whom its most important. Humans in general or for the life in this planet, that it is sustaining as lungs of earth?

I understand your point and what I was trying to point out is the ability not to overwrite the possibility of having another place around the world that houses some of the world's most precious species and items such that we have I'm the Amazon or even greater because there is the possibility of that also.

We may have not record of such a place for now and until the discovery of such a place, we will have to continue to rate Amazon as the best and one of the most important places on earth.

The most important place in the earth is the area of Jerusalem in Israel, and areas East of it. Why? Because the History of the Bible Old Testament shows and tells us this.

Jerusalem is the place where the great and 'holy' king of Abraham's day lived... Melchizedek. It's the area of the Garden of Eden - East of Jerusalem. It's the place where Jesus died for the sins of the whole world and arose to life, again, on the third day - just outside of Jerusalem.

People live many other places, but God's people around the world carry a piece of this area in their hearts, even if they don't know it.

There are many beautiful places around the world well developed, but not secured enough for people to live in, there is no safer place on earth than the comfort of one's mindset, weall know how violence had been roaming about in everyone whereby even the secured places got attacked and hijacked, but when we are satisfied and contempted by what we had, we will always live a complementary life and make everywhere peaceable for a living for everyone.

When I saw this post, I was only wondering about Amazon's location on the planet. I used to think it was merely the name of an online retailer and web service provider.

Being a rainforest in South America and occupying around 6.7 million square kilometers shared by nine countries, its favorable contribution to climate change has made it a crucial location to be protected well for future uses.
 
Being a rainforest with such resources does not automatically make it the best place on the planet. No matter how beautiful and appealing a forest appears to the sight, it is never a decent location for me to find comfort and live.

It's actually not "named" the most important place on earth. Like I said, it was a claim or an opinion of a correspondent that the Amazon is the most important place on earth. And draw from @Hispo statement, I also agree that what must have made the correspondent say so is not unconnected to the atmospheric positive significance the Amazon has on issue of climate change and the countless of species the Amazon hosts as a green natural environment.

I think the selection of the Amazon as the most important place on the world was made in the context of that forest having much of an impact on the climate and the availability of oxygen in the atmosphere. It has been called "the lung of the planet" for that reason before.

And while we can have different opinions on the where the most important place is, I kind of agree on how important the Amazon forest is, and I would personally loved if it was preserved for future generations. 

Did that reporter explain why Amazon? Every region of the world is the same, and there is no most important place on this earth that needs to be protected. I think as long as there is a human presence, it is an important place, and we need to protect all of those places. In addition, we should pay more attention to the climate issue because I see our earth is on the verge of danger when the world is getting warmer, and we still don't have an effective solution to this problem.

I am curious to know where is the Amazon located around the glob to be named the most important place on earth even though I doubt that because not all of us know how that place looks like so then how can we now agree that Amazon is the most important place on earth.

There is no gain in saying that different countries have some incredible and out-of-human-capacity locations and reserves, and this will dash off every form of argument.

Amazon may rank among the best location around the world but certainly not the first on the list if there is any.

It will be difficult to agree that the Amazon is the most important place on earth when not everyone has been there or even have an idea of what exactly has made this Amazon the most important place to this person. The most important places on earth depends on every individual because it is based on certain reasons. For me the most important place on earth to me is my home.

Please don't get it twisted, this is a thread for the sake of knowledge and discussion. I am someone with an unquenchable interest in reading, listening or watching news on regular basis, and for me it's a hobby. Most times I feel emptied should a day pass by without inclining myself to a news broadcast. Am sure there are some persons here that are like that too.

Apart from news I also interest myself with documentaries. Just the other day I was watching a particular documentary on Aljazeera about nature and  one correspondent made a statement claiming that "the most important place on earth is the  Amazon", and this got me marveling how so. What could be her reasons for this claim.

In such wise, for the sake of knowledge and discussion as I earlier expressed above. In your own opinion where on earth do you think is the most important place on earth and why such a place?
