It is a 4 letter domain, but the letters toghether dont make any sense. Unless there is a big company called ronf or someone that really needs this domain - a asking price of 500$ is just too high.
An email as a proof of ownership of a domain does not count anything. You can easily spoof an email with any domain. For example @nasa.gov, @apple.com or anything like that. (Search Google for more info) The best way to proof the ownership is putting specific content onto the page.
