@escrow.ms Thank you,

Is there any real urgency to move the BTC from multibit? I know it is no longer supported, but is there any extra risk because of this?

Cheers

There is no urgency. Yet, you should start to move. The only problem would be getting back your coins on your hardware failure if you haven't backed up your private keys.

Well multibit classic is not supported anymore and it's not segwit compatible, so you might get into issues if you will try to use it.

Classic is really old, I will advice you to move your wallet to electrum.
As for transfer, Both options are good, you can try whatever works best for you and to claim your BCH on a later date you need to keep your multibit private key safe.

Because right now you will be only sending your bitcoins and your BCH will remain on your old multibit address.

Hi all,

I think I have this under control, but just wanted to check with you all.

1. I have funds in Multibit Classic
2. I have exported my Private Key (only 1 in use)

I want to move my BTC to Electrum, and have read and understood the sweep process.

Really only have one question ...

Should I sweep from Electrum -OR- Send from Multibit (if it still works) to Electrum?

I keep reading people say to get away from Multibit ASAP, is it really so important to do this ASAP or is my BTC basically safe and no need to panic. Is there really an urgency to move from Multibit?

Once I have my BTC in Electrum I will look into getting my Bitcoin Cash, but I will probably wait on that for a little longer.

Any other suggestions or advice?

Thanks
Andy
