Do you have the latest client? I just had 0.3.21 and no longer was generating connections. Updated to the latest and no longer have that problem.

If your wallet is still not up to date on the block chain; Close the bitcoin client by going file menu exit.  Once closed wait 1 min as it take some time for the bitcoin.exe to actually leave the task manager.

Once closed try opening up the bitcoin client again and it should start downloading again.  It it stops just keep repeating untill its updated.

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to bitcoin but I had to swap out motherboards and I backed up my wallet.dat and restored it on this computer. However my bitcoins are now 0/unconfirmed and I have left bitcoin.exe running all night. Is there anything else I have to do or should I just let it run longer? I have 137856 blocks.

If you've sent them, you have to wait for your blockchain files to catch up, currently we are at block 139306, so you will have to wait a while, but once you have all the current blocks, your transactions will get confirmed. If you don't have any network connections, try adding some fallback nodes.
