@everyone ..Mr Beast states they stole a bitcoin and they showed a picture of a copper btc coin but then says they passed by his keys (I believe, video has been taken down now)..anyone know if that’s what was taken, a copper coin ? Curious as a btc collectibles nerd.

It was his laptop that was among the stolen item.  He said he has the paper top of the laptop keyboard saying Bitcoin private key so he thought his Bitcoin investment was gone but when he checked it, the coins are still intact and he moved it asap.
Here is another link for the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghG6Uv_j5Xw

The discussion are really funny, Mr. Beast is just lucky that Bitcoin at that time isn't as popular as today and the guy who stole his laptop has no idea what Bitcoin is or just in a hurry that it missed the paper that has the private key which is lying on top of his laptop.

Some of you may have seen this clip before, and I’m assuming a good amount of you know who Mr Beast is (if not he’s a highly followed social media “influencer” I guess you could say, but an actually cool/good guy who gives back a lot to people).

Here he talks about how his house was robbed, but the idiot robber just passed by his Pc which had a piece of paper sitting next to it that said “public and private keys” right on it lol. He laughs at what morons they were. Reminds me of the time my car was robbed of about $10 in change but they left my $600 radar detector and $2000 dvd player just sitting there lol.

Lesson here, not all robbers are this stupid, hide your keys!

I saw that clip and if I am not wrong he mentioned it as laptop not desktop just testing my memory skills and he said the wallet contains 2 million dollars worth of Bitcoin which he was planning to use on the upcoming video.

Don't leave your private keys in a table or in sticky note or in digital form. Just keep it safe as much as how you keep it if you had that amount of fiat in your wallet.

Even though even today not everyone knows how non-custodial Bitcoin backups work, I assume this was years and years ago (probably pre-2017 bull market) when Bitcoin wasn't that much of a household name yet.
The video was uploaded 7 months earlier so don't know when exactly this happened with him and in past also btc was well known but the robbers might not be having idea about it or they were most probably looking for some physical goods they can instantly sell for cash. But Mr beast was lucky that they didn't get it otherwise it was big amount to loose and how can he just normally put the keys on paper next to pc I can't understand? So this is a lesson that we should safely backup our keys and also have house safety.
I think this is old because do you remember before that before creating a wallet the platform will recommend to the user to write it also in paper not just save it in your computer but in today's date it isn't recommended as it could be easily misplaced. For sure Mr. Beast right now invested to hardware wallet as it is more secure and he is for sure putting it into his vault

Just a confirmation, Mk4 is right, this happened pre-2017 bull market. This [1] article goes bit into details.

Thanks for looking this up, appreciate you both…been meaning to myself. I just found out who Mr Beast was maybe within the last year, and I still don’t watch his stuff..so it escaped me when it actually happened.

That's why anonymity is important when we are involved in crypto and bitcoin, robbers will definitely evolve with the times and they will also know bitcoin much better than us. I never follow the news Mr. Beast, is he an influencer or a public shop accounted for on social media and lucky the robbers didn't take the PC or the piece of paper that was on it's "public private keys". Stupid again why Mr. Beast keeps it there, is he not stupider than the robber. LOL

I remember a film starring Jackie Chan with the title New Police Story, even though the story in this film is not about bitcoin robbery, but what we see is their ability to rob banks. So it is possible that future robbers will no longer target fiat currency, but bitcoin or other crypto.

The weirdest part about this is that a robber to be expected of knowing what a private key for a bitcoin is. I understand that millions are aware of bitcoin, but even among those millions, how many really know the private key of a bitcoin? Plus are we sure when he got back? Like maybe the robber didn't want no part of that laptop and sold it to some pawn shop somewhere and the pawn shop didn't know about it. There are so many tangibles to this story that it would require a robber, who is aware of bitcoin, who ise aware of how bitcoin private key works, who is aware of how to withdraw to somewhere else being tracked, aware of being able to sell it, and get away with all of this. I am sorry but there aren't that many people who are smart enough to do that and can't earn a buck so would have to steal from other peoples homes, if you knew that, you would be able to earn much more and wouldn't need to do this.

Happens all the time with these robberies. Most of these people would just pass by items that are "too hassle to carry around" like PCs/hard drives and the paper wallets to boot, or in your case the radar detector and the dvd player. You'd literally spot it from a mile away, and not to mention the fact that they'd rouse suspicions from the fact that they are literally carrying shit that's not supposed to be carried in broad daylight/night time, at least without a receipt.

This also just goes to show that bitcoin, when done right is your robbery-proof buddy. Cold wallets for instance will literally shield you from online hacking and getting your coins stolen over the internet, plus the unassuming looks of it too makes it not stand out from robbers!

The reason why they passed by without having a thought that something important can be in the laptop is because they only came for the money and some other valuables like necklace, shoes, Gold and diamond they can resell and make there money without thinking that he might have some other things that can be very important in the laptop. This is why what you don't know is bigger than you. If they had the opportunity of checking his laptop, they would have found it there but they decided to go for those things they think it's important and can be resellable to make more money.

I've seen the video before and I believe those robbers or thieves were probably Bitcoin illiterates since we all know that not a lot of people in the US at that time knew much about Bitcoin and how it works and how to use it. And those thieves were probably totally illiterate drug takers as well and all they needed was something that they could sell for some money.

And even if the guy wasn't what I'm saying, he probably was in a rush and didn't notice the paper that had the private keys written on it, otherwise, someone would probably not let something like that get out of their hands.

I heard that some people mentioned this character on the forum, but I didn't pay attention to him, and now that I see how he behaves, I'm not too sorry for that. I don't know if anyone has ever confirmed that the robbery even existed, and it's no secret that these so-called YT influencers exaggerate or deliberately lie in order to increase their viewership - in other words, they will do everything for a few more clicks.

I would not laugh at thieves at all because they take what they can sell quickly and easily, but at people who keep their private keys on a piece of paper next to their personal computer or even worse in the computer itself. The question arises, who is the real fool in this story?
I'm a little skeptical regarding Mr. Beast due to constantly seeing the same people in his videos. Certainly, he's giving away a lot of money, which he's generating from his videos that almost always go viral. I don't question his story; it's very possible to be true since his character has blown up since the first of his days, which made him a potential target. Moreover, I'm not surprised that the thief didn't acknowledge the private key; not everyone has a full understanding of Bitcoin, and it's likely that the thief could have searched for what it was when it was already too late; Mr. Beast had already moved his funds into a new wallet.

Lol, actually the robber who broke into Mr. Beast house was a petty robber who didn't have a thief's certificate.  Cheesy
They are truly technologically illiterate so they do not understand what is written on the paper. I'm 100% sure if the robbers take Mr. Beast PC, they will never know the PC has more assets than what was already taken.
Even though this story sounds very funny, we still have to be careful with the private key. Valuable lessons can be drawn from anyone's story, maybe Mr. Beast is still lucky because the robbers who entered his house do not understand the technology that is being developed, but different cases can happen to other people.

Went through the post and clicked on link to see what happened in the video, after listening to what Mr beast said, it sound so funny for thief did not bother to go with private key,but I will not say that the thief not intelligent enough that why he/she did not bother to make attempt with private after seen, maybe it attention was not there.believe me that many thieves always have their own targets before going to any house to Rob and it  is their target they will aim mostly and they do think going away with anything they can be easily track down.

But all I can conclude from the tale is to always keep your private key properly hidden so that no one will ever accidentally discover it and attempt to steal from you.The simplest way to prevent this is to keep your mouth shut around anyone that you holding any sizable portion of Bitcoin. Any thief who watches this video now might consider the private key to be their target if they discover that is Bitcoin what people are holding mostly nowadays.

Lesson here, not all robbers are this stupid, hide your keys!

All the narrative that you mention showing how robber are stupid and make the readers not think to hide their keys.  Cheesy

Most of the robber usually are those people that didn’t finish school and doesn’t have jobs that why they rely on robbing someone as source of money. I think there’s only few robber that use their brain rather then physical strength. I don’t bother match on the second of my digital asset from a physical robbery since most of them targets the common valuable things. Scammer and hackers are the main enemy of our digital possession though.

One thing I learned lesson here is to leave cash on open space so that robber will focus on it and leave your private keys alone.

But even if he took the paper, he also can't use it because he doesn't know anything about crypto assets. So it was only normal that he would not take it.
It is so easy to learn how to import a private key and sweep the funds to another address, even for a person who hasn't done it before, just a few minutes put into the research and they will be able to do it without fuss. Take note that if an attacker gets your private key while robbing you, they will surely try to sweep the funds as soon as possible, probably when they still have you under their control, because if you are ever in a situation were someone steals your private keys, you have to act fast by sweeping all the funds you have in that address to a new one that has a different seed, and you may probably do it faster if the attacker lets you go and leaves with the keys, or if they have to do a research on how to use it while they are gone.
Maybe it's very easy if the thief is used to using existing technology but to access the private key, the thief must have basic knowledge of bitcoin so he can take the funds in the wallet. And not many people out there know how to do it unless they've read some information about bitcoin and know a little about using a personal wallet and making transactions. If they don't, they won't be able to use it and it will take time to access it, giving us time to move all the funds in that wallet to another wallet. And you should not leave anything related to your wallet anywhere because it is at risk of being stolen by someone.

Not stupid but are just not aware of things. Fortunately, the robber is not that computer literate or an avid follower of him 'coz if the robber is, for sure he would know what to really steal. But it is indeed true, digital wallet would be only prone to the owner itself forgetting the private keys and/or missing the device wherein assets are being held; it won't be easily stolen or accessed. Same thing with bank accounts I think, they just have different access features.

He should just be thankful that what happened did not go to worse such as stealing more than half of his wealth in that instance. Should be a lesson for him to improve the security of his house to not be easily accessed by outsiders.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
lol The thief, after watching Mr. Beast's video, will probably hate it for the rest of his life because a piece of paper can make him rich instantly. However, it proves that bitcoin is still not popular with everyone, so the thief did not pay attention to that piece of paper. But it also needs to be considered that once bitcoin becomes more popular and widely known, there will be no more luck. So protect your property carefully.

Or he'll be happy that Mr Beast did not have any good security systems or cameras at home.
He's making millions from youtube and holds a lot of expensive stuff at home. He's a celebrity, so there can be fans and stalkers creeping around, yet he doesn't spend a few bucks on security?
You can buy a decent camera system for $1k and 5k will buy you a personalized system with movement tracking cameras that even has its own emergency power source.

I'd say that the thief was dumb but the youtuber wasn't the smartest either.

Don't you think he's wrong to call the rubbers moron? I don't want to conclude by saying that the robbers are not crypto savvy because there are cases where robbers will come to your house, rob you of your money as well as your valuable possessions. He should be thankful to God for blinding their eyes that they didn't think of stealing the laptop because I they had done that, they would have definitely seen the note containing the private keys and taken it as well.
Maybe those thieves been aware about those Privatekeys but they have decided to sweep it on later since the keys is there but Mr. Beast have those back up keys not only stored on his own laptop
but also into other place which he had still the chance to get those coins on accessing those via those PK which it could be still considered lucky  but if it was totally been that stolen then
$2M dollars overall wont really be that much for him or something that he could earn for a couple of months or something like that but basing on this situation then i would really
say that this is some sort a good advertisement of Bitcoin considering on how popular Mr. Beast is on which having that mention about Bitcoin would be at least
having that kind of exposure which it is really that something good.

But that will only be a robber who has an idea about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, because if they have no knowledge of it, I bet you they can still be in possession of the private key in next 10yrs and yet don't know how to use it. Because just as "Mr Beast" said that when the robbers came, he had on his laptop screen boldly written "Bitcoin private key", of which i'm sure after getting a private key, the next question will be which wallet owns that private key, which I can bet you that the private key of "Electrum" will not work on "Bluewallet" or likewise a bluewallet private key not work on "mycelium" e.t.c, of which it will take a lot of trial and error to be able to locate which wallet owns that private key luckily found.

~snip~

now, that this story is out, he should take care of his bitcoins and the keys. he should have not disclose it to the public about his bitcoin's holdings. maybe, it is also good for his content, hence, the mention of robbers not touching his computer and BTC's keys.
sometimes people are really not cautious on what they are sharing to the public. but in any case, it is up to him how he will safeguard his crypto assets. now, there will be new thieves on the look out for his crypto assets... Grin
Well, it had happened once and I don't think that his unwise to let that happen again. He for sure has got enough of it and will not label icons on his PC such as his bitcoin private keys. I guess he's got it now on a hardware wallet.

~snip~
After the discussion in this thread, I watched his video yesterday. He is a cool dude and really creates very strong content. Before, I simply didn’t come across his videos, since I’m not fond of videos of this format, which is probably why it was not in the recommendations. And yet he was very lucky that the thief was very stupid.
He's the biggest if not, one of the biggest content creators in YouTube and also in different platforms. The thief probably isn't just aware of computer stuff and looking for some real money to find out.

It is funny when MrBeast tells the story of his laptop being taken but the private key for his Bitcoin on a sticky note was ignored. It shows you that Bitcoin still isn't mainstream and common thieves aren't yet targeting it.  That's a good thing I guess.

MrBeast's gaming channel seems ripe for crypto infiltration if you ask me.  He puts on a lot of events using Minecraft that I think would actually be better done in the Sandbox if he were to develop his own land.  I'm sure somebody's gotta be working on this idea.  I think MrBeast has the potential to bring the metaverse mainstream.

I saw this video somewhere and it was funny while he's explaining how did it happened. Things like his private keys where labeled on that computer and good thing the robber didn't even flinched to touch it or else his BTCs were all gone.

I'm not very familiar with his work, I've seen a few videos, as far as I understand, he produces entertaining content and helps people. In this story, the saying comes to mind: if you want to hide something, put it in the most visible place. But the thief turned out to be more attentive; he could take a solid jackpot.
He's a content creator and the videos that he's producing are budgeted like a million dollars each of them. It's like that robber is just for some things and think that he took a jackpot but didn't.

He's really good person, of course he will show it into the public since he earn thru views in the Youtube plus his an influencer. It's like a cycle while he gives money he also earn from his videos so it's a give and take but the fact that he gives people especially in needs some funds is really a nice move. By being this rich of course it wouldn't be a surprised for him to invest in Bitcoin, which is a good thing for him. Now we've seen that people aren't still aware of Bitcoin and would really go to fiat money as they don't know the true value of Bitcoin.

Yes, I know him from the videos that I've saw in YouTube. Well, Mr. Beast was just a one lucky guy because the thief don't know what the paper meant as there is no way that the thief didn't read the note saying "Public and Private keys", it's just that the thief didn't mind it as who knows, that note may sound gibberish to him and figured out it that it wasn't really a big deal.

Aside from that fact, the thief might not knew who was he robbing because if he did or if that was a specific target, those keys are surely a primary target as that is literally diamonds in their eyes.

Well not all robbers know every valuable things and that's one of the examples. They just grabbed everything they can and what they see as valuable but of course, not everyone will know what is more valuable. The same goes for op's story. The robber might not know how valuable and expensive those items that they left untouched.

I don't know how these thieves works but probably whenever they stole valuable items like devices, they tend to sell it faster since the locations can be tracked. So in order for them to avoid getting tracked down, they would just sell it somewhere without even trying to access those devices. Also, not all thieves are techy and know how to unlock devices, so I don't think they will spend time trying to unlock devices since they could be located. But glad for Mr beast that he didn't lost everything at that time.

It’s still early now but am sure time will come when robbers won’t care about properties or fiat currency anymore, the only thing they will care about is bitcoin, when they come to attack, they will drop their wallet address and they will ask you to send bitcoin to the wallet, but am sure it won’t be now, bitcoin adoption haven’t gotten to that level, not everyone knows about bitcoin yet, and even robbers won’t be wasting their time asking if people are having bitcoin, but when bitcoin have been adopted and made legal in most countries, bitcoin will end up being like a fiat currency, everyone will be having it.

In my country no robber will even ask you for bitcoin because most of them don’t know about bitcoin and just few people percentage of people are holding bitcoin in my country, the only reason that will make robbers request for bitcoin in my country is that maybe they got information that you are holding bitcoin, and even if you are holding bitcoin, most of them will want you to convert it to fiat currency for them, they will prefer to go away with fiat currency.

Bitcoin can be used as money, but thieves may already be aware of how it functions and that it can be tracked, making it actually risky for them to choose items whose whereabouts cannot be traced. Alternatively, the thief may have been in a hurry and neglected to check every item in Mr. Beast's house that could make him extremely wealthy. This is because thieves typically look for physical items that can easily be turned into cash immediately. And while this story is funny, if it were the other way around Mr. Beast would not be able to laugh at him. I believe Mr. Beast was simply lucky at the time because perhaps there will be another thief who is already after his Bitcoin so he will only look for the Private Key stored in the house.

Mr beast seems very lucky, when someone wants to rob his house. He can be called a very successful influencer. Actually, in this modern world, a laptop or cellphone can be a wallet that contains a lot of assets and a lot of money in it. Because almost everyone on this earth now definitely knows how to save money and manage money via laptops, PCs or cellphones.

So it seems like the robbers at Mr Beast's house didn't know about it, or because they were in a hurry, and made them forget all about it. His name is also a robber, some are smart some are stupid. But in essence, we as investors in digital assets such as crypto and most certainly have bank accounts that can be managed via laptops, PCs or mobile phones (M-banking), we must be more careful and be able to store everything very carefully and thorough. Because if you are not careful and thorough in storing all the assets you have, you are afraid that when someone wants to rob and the robber is smart, it will be easier to be robbed.

Many people disdain to store their crypto assets on paper and putting them carelessly for people to see. But Mr. Beast was very lucky because the thief had no idea what Bitcoin was and thought that paper was useless at all. And indeed, if the thief watched Mr. Beast, he would curse and regret why he didn't take the paper as well. But even if he took the paper, he also can't use it because he doesn't know anything about crypto assets. So it was only normal that he would not take it.

Mr. Beast is a very generous guy, but also, maybe this was just a stunt. Are we be completely sure that this wasn't staged just to draw attention? If there is a police record that would suffice as being legitimate. But maybe he is too rich to even care, one thing is for sure that Mr. Beast would definitely not leave his Bitcoin PKs out on the table in broad daylight next to his computer. Maybe there is some hidden symbolism in his videos? It might help if I actually watch it lmao. Good post m8!

Nah I think you're thinking too much in to this one.  As some have pointed out, this video is a couple years old ( at least I believe it is).  I mean I did some stupid shit in my early days of bitcoin.  I also recently heard Mr Beast I think on Joe Rogans podcast say that the only reason he moved in to a much larger /nicer home was the fact that he needed much better security.  He's just not a flashy guy, and if I remember correctly he said he still drives a very average car.  The guy doesn't need to pull stunts anymore, he's I believe the most popular YouTuber period and has been for some time.

lol The thief, after watching Mr.

It's like that robber is just for some things and think that he took a jackpot but didn't.

now, that this story is out, he should take care of his bitcoins and the keys. he should have not disclose it to the public about his bitcoin's holdings. maybe, it is also good for his content, hence, the mention of robbers not touching his computer and BTC's keys.
sometimes people are really not cautious on what they are sharing to the public. but in any case, it is up to him how he will safeguard his crypto assets. now, there will be new thieves on the look out for his crypto assets... Grin

I will not say that the robbers were stupid, Stealing bitcoins was not their target because they have no knowledge about it. If they did, they would have gone for the Bitcoins which will be easy to carry and will be untraceable. There are different types of robbers each having what they are interested in, some are property thiefs, Jewelry thiefs, automobile thiefs, and Bitcoin thiefs. Mr beast is lucky that he was not attacked by Bitcoin thieves or thieves who have the knowledge of the value of bitcoins.

Good thing that those robbers arent really that aware in todays tech and other innovative things but for sure on the time those robbers had seen that Mr.Beast videos are really surely crying at the time.
They did really just focus on getting those T-shirts which does shows up some huge hate.  Cheesy

They did just missed up that huge thing which it is basically been written on there in speaking about privatekeys which it does have $2M inside it. Well thats a good thing for Beast though.
Turns out that robber is indeed a moron just like on what he said on his video. LOL!

People or robbers would really be usually be focusing on things which they do know that does have value but they do missed out the big part due to lack
of knowledge or simply being dumb but well what it already happened.

I'm not astounded by the ignorance of "Mr. Beast" because the fact is a lot of people need banks/centralization to save themselves from their own incompetency. You would be surprised at how little people care about their own safety and privacy and outsource it to a 3rd party to keep them safe. Some might even put a password on their crypto wallet thinking they're being secure but will reuse passwords on all accounts, some of which probably plastered on databases from leaks.

If "Mr. Beast" knew enough to keep his private key physically stored, then he would have been aware of how important it was to keep it hidden. He almost learned an expensive lesson.

I have known "Mr Beast" for over 3yrs now ever since I started my YouTube journey as the 2nd highest paid YouTuber in the entire world who has over 154 million subscribers and earn between $268k to $4.3million every month from YouTube ads revenue as shown below by "social Blade.com' which is a website which gives a rough estimate how much each YouTuber earns. So as a social media influencer who earns over a million dollars each month from Youtube, he would have known he is likely to be a robbery target and had provided himself with top-notch security the world could ever afford.

There are still robbers who do not know that things are more valuable than all they have robbed. It really happened and even you have experienced it.

He was still lucky that his mugger didn't take the piece of paper because I don't think he knew what the public and private keys were, so he left it. Had he known it was a safe containing valuable assets, he would have taken them and probably left other items behind.

The lesson from this story is that we must be more careful about storing our public and private keys to prevent theft at home. Other than that, stash those valuables elsewhere. And if necessary, rent a deposit box at the bank to make sure everything is safe.
This is funny that he actually wrote the private key and private key in a piece of paper and left it on his desk. But the robber was ignorant that he didn't know about bitcoin. The robber was busy collecting other valuable items from Mr.Beaset's house.

It is normal for a robber to not know about bitcoin but it is better to keep your private key safe to avoid losing bitcoin.

Bitter truth 😔
I think this robbers are getting  smarter and wiser and I don't think we sgoukdbbe careless about our seed phrase because most times, these criminals have to take some months and weeks to study their targets before launching an attack on them, so some of them might just come asking  to get access to your hodling and if uts kept carelessly like the op wrote, you're already making things very easy for them.

But I think the robbers were really dump and maybe they had their targets and was just focused on getting physical  fiat and wasn't ready to pick anything that might be implicating later maybe if investigated, so maybe they weren't really dumb but were only trying to be careful.

He was lucky that the robber didn't come for his bitcoin but instead came for physical valuables and forgot or don't have the knowledge of bitcoin, if not he would have seen the private keys. He might even see it but don't know what it means since doesn't have the idea of what it means.

This should have happened long ago, because assuming it was these present days, the robber would have forced him by putting a gun on his head to transfer all his bitcoin to the robber's own wallet or better still he might do away with the paper containing those private information. Always keep your private keys and seed phrase in a secured or a secrete place where no dick or harry will have easy access to. Nowadays robbers are hunting for bitcoin and no longer physical cash or valuables.

It is very interesting and tickling to watch their actions, meaning that not all criminals are trained and have information unless someone conveys it. But, for me this serves as an example as well as a reminder to prioritize the security of digital assets in this case our BTC and apply best practices to keep it safe.

but the idiot robber just passed by his Pc which had a piece of paper sitting next to it that said “public and private keys” right on it

In this situation, two things would have resulted to this kind of experience he had with the theives at that moment that makes them not to have such opportunity to steal the bitcoin access as well.

1. The theives might be inexperienced about bitcoin or might not know what seed phrase means, they may think it's a child's play words written in teaching the children word pronounciations

2. They might not have paid a closer attention to the paper left on the table or care about what was written on it since they wanted to rob as fast as possible to evacuate the scene, in such situation they wouldn't want to entertain any form of delay against their timing schedule for the operation.

As for the person being robbed, he has escaped a narrow chance of loosing his entire asset and investment in bitcoin for making such a costly mistake by leaving his wallet seeds right on the table beside the computer, our seed phrase or keys should be what we have to maintain privately without anyone having access to them, i hope this will also serve a good lesson someone have just learnt about securing their keys.

I've watched this clip on Youtube months ago, watched it many times, and every time I repeat it, I always laugh on how dumb that robber is.
Maybe his a robber who doesn't have a smartphone at all, or any device that keeps him updated on what's happening around him. Maybe he doesn't know what's crypto at all, or how to access it etc. Maybe he's a robber from a faraway place, just went there to rob. Cheesy Kidding on the last one.

I guess it will not affect Mr. Beast at all if the robber manage to got his private keys because of how much he's worth right now. I mean he's one of the most popular, if not the most popular Youtuber right now, and correct me with this one, but I think that he's earning 7 digits on all of his Youtube channels, but spending 6 digits on all of it.

I guess it's good for my safety as well that nobody here in my community knows about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency at all because that lessens the chances of me getting my Bitcoin robbed. This incident teaches us to always, always keep our keys in the safest place possible. Not all robbers are like the robber who robbed Mr. Beast's things.

Mr. Beast might be laughing at that scenario, because he is printing money on social media with his videos, but other people can learn from his mistakes. Do not leave your private key anywhere near to your computer and do not write it on a piece of paper and store it somewhere, where it can get damaged.

The ink on paper can fade over time, if left exposed to the environment or the paper can get wet... or your house might burn down. Always laminate your paper wallets and make several copies and then distribute it to different geographical locations.  Wink

I would not trust anything to banks, in some jurisdictions the police can open those safe deposit boxes without a court order, and if you were unlucky enough for this to happen to you and your private keys were there then your coins could be eventually stolen and you will never know how this happened.

It is better to keep control of our keys and never rely on a third person or institution to do this, as you will only be adding another point of failure by doing so.

instead of you guys wishing Mr beast as lucky I hope you all learn from this lesson, not all robbers cares about cash, some wants the most valuable things, Mr beast must have believe that he can never get robbed that's why he left his private key on the table.

Good thing he dodged a more catastrophic outcome, but I dont think it was a good idea to disclose information like these. Robbers might get provoked on such statement and even be more knowledgeable on what to touch next aside from fiat and jewelleries.
This could also be a lesson for Mr.Beast and for everyone to not store they keys where it was more vulnerable from someone who has enough knowledge about Bitcoin.

That's not to say that if you own bitcoin you should keep everything locked up tight as if you had stacks of cash in your home--you absolutely should, but the lesson I learned from this is that the typical home-robbery perpetrator is still most likely looking for physical valuables like cash, gold, etc.

I'm not all that familiar with Mr. Beast, but these big Youtube personalities, man....they'd better step up their home security, because I imagine a lot of outlaws know they're pretty rich and thus are, or will, become the target of break-ins just like this one.
Yeah this will make the robbery will going to find a hardware wallet, phone or something that contain private key after this case. Consider to hide your hardware wallet with something that looks not valuable like a can of biscuit etc or not use hardware wallet, but using a cheap cold storage like USB flash.

Well social media influencers are trade their privacy for money, so it's not surprising if they're become target of criminal and they can't hide everything they have. I think any rich people already set up a good security in their homes, but it just not prevent from bad actors.

It was funny when I first listened to it though. Probably not to people who don't know what the hell he was talking about.

Here's the thing, if they were crypto-thieves, that they were looking for that would be one thing, but they look like typical thieves looking for cash or gold and don't know much about bitcoin, hence the botched job.

Because usually, thieves will look for physical items that can be easily turned into cash immediately, Bitcoin can be used as cash but maybe thieves already understand how it works and that it can be tracked so it will actually be dangerous for them so they only choose items whose whereabouts cannot be traced anymore, or the thief was in a hurry so he didn't check every item in Mr.'s Beast house which has the potential to make him filthy rich, and I'm thinking Mr. Beast was just lucky at that time because maybe there will be another thief who is already after his Bitcoin so he will only look for the Private Key stored in the house, this story is indeed funny but if it were the other way around then Mr. Beast will not be able to laugh at him.

This incident is funny. A funny robber who was laughed at by the owner himself because he's a moron for missing the private keys to millions in Bitcoin. But there's also the funny owner who wrote down his private keys on a piece of paper and openly display it for everyone to see. This is amusing. This is a classic story of the pot calling the kettle black. LOL!

Anyway, there are precious lessons here, both for the robber and for Mr. Beast. And for everybody else, especially those who are not as rich as Mr. Beast, there's a reason why it's called private keys.

Lesson here, not all robbers are there stupid, hide your keys!
There is a saying in my region that day's that "what you don't know is bigger than you. These criminals acted out of ignorance because they know nothing about Bitcoin. If knew about Bitcoin, they wouldn't have stolen any thing except those keys. This story reminds us of our most important responsibility as bitcoiners, which is how to secure our keys. I have never seen any conventional bank manager keeping the keys to the bank's vault on the table, they ensure it is always safe.

The story also informs us that many people are still not aware of the currency called Bitcoin. Therefore we need to increase Bitcoin awareness through diverse means that are convenient to use. More people need to be aware of this currency which can promote privacy and can also be a good investment scheme.

The robber was not intelligent enough, and most people have a dull mind to have never heard of bitcoin or anything linked to it. They referred to the robber as a fucking moron in the YouTube video clip since he was foolish and never imagined what a private key implies, even though he wanted to access it through the laptop he took.

It was a good idea that he kept the private keys somewhere else than his laptop, which is never a good idea. The video clip has simply taught thieves more about what a private key is and how to use one if they stumble across one or want to breach someone who holds a bitcoin savings account. He should be more cautious the next time because the robbers will be smarter than before after seeing this video footage.

I read Pierce news also the robber tried to rob a crypto millionaire in Norway 4 years ago. This means the robber is very understanding of the crypto. Maybe today, the robber is not looking for the goods and a pile of money again in your house, but a small thing like a flash disk, hardware wallet, or laminating paper where a robber is very sure if that inscription is 12/24 mnemonic seed or private key.

Maybe better from today, we have to hide our crypto in different ways, maybe we can tuck it in an unexpected place like a wall hole, electrical switch location, or in floor tiles (just for example) where the robber didn't expect it. It's up to you, If you feel you have an unexpected place in your house and are safe, you have to try it but be very sure that place is safe from anything like flood, fire, and humans.

Even though even today not everyone knows how non-custodial Bitcoin backups work, I assume this was years and years ago (probably pre-2017 bull market) when Bitcoin wasn't that much of a household name yet.

This is a lesson to learn, never save or store your private on your laptop or anywhere else that is obviously easy to steal.
I'm not exactly sure that's the takeaway message from what happened to Mr. Beast.  Maybe if the robber had actually noticed and stolen that bitcoin it would, but this is like the opposite of that.

Lol.  I can't imagine how the robber feels knowing he almost got a million dollars, it might be the robber, not just a fast hand as the victim had and transferred all his Bitcoin into another wallet.

Unfortunately, the robber has no knowledge about private keys but I think the time will come Bitcoin becomes popular and well-known all people will know how Bitcoin will work including robbers, and there will be no moron robbers at all.

This is a lesson to learn, never save or store your private on your laptop or anywhere else that is obviously easy to steal.

Some of you may have seen this clip before, and I’m assuming a good amount of you know who Mr Beast is (if not he’s a highly followed social media “influencer” I guess you could say, but an actually cool guy who gives back a lot to people.

I have seen this clip before on Instagram and I remember Mr Beast was very grateful that the robbers didn’t pay any attention to his seed phrase because all the money he had at that point was those bitcoins. This was years ag ago when bitcoin was not as popular as it is now, I’m sure robbers wouldn’t make that kind of mistake again It’s a very stupid way to store one’s seed phrase, I believe he said he stored his seed phrase on his desktop screen not a piece of paper.

Lol, this is actually what happened to unsmart thief's; they were focused on the physical cash, not knowing they could have gained more from just stealing the laptop, or even having an idea of what crypto currency is, and that private key is just like someone's bank access. They could have gone for it and even asked for system access to help them move out the coin before even leaving the house.

This is really funny, but Mr. Beast making this public could actually draw more attention to him, like people could actually target him for real this time knowing that he is a crypto holder and how he makes mockery of the robbers who chose to steal a few bucks over a crypto private key, which could have given them thousands.
