by the way. the reason they dont play nice with remote desktop is because remote desktop does not have gpu acceleration so it disables it. if you want to be able to use trixx and/or afterburner you need something like realvnc or ultravnc that does support remote gpu.

that's in my experience.

i swapped to realvnc and it worked perfectly.

trixx is far better ... but the lack of restrictions mean it will happily let you blow your card up if you don't know what your doing

if your new stick to AB...

I just use Trigone Remote Monitor.  It tells you everything, HDD temps, processor, everything.  It is pretty nice.

As far as cards overheating, I don't worry and more than I do with AB because I have the ability to monitor temps with either.

I use Trixx, which seems to work just fine. I have noticed Trixx does not like to work right under Remote Desktop though...

I'll be working my OC settings into my cgminer config directly soon I think.

I've noticed the same with Afterburner.

When I physically login, AB and Trixx recognize my cards and temps and I'm to overclock. However, when I login with Remote Desktop, my cards suddenly stop reading in AB or Trixx. The overclock stays, but the temp readings fail and I can't adjust the overclock (shows all 0's)

It's only when I login remotely.  I've tried using dummy plugs then logging in remotely and that doesn't help.
So I have to physically login, set everything up and unplug the monitor, keyboard, mouse . It's really inconvenient.

I monitor temps and OC through the AB android app which is awesome. .

I use TriXX.  Don't even have Sapphire cards but it is the best program IMO

Do you fear that your cards will over heat using it?
How long have you been using it? with issues?

I really want to switch but just not convinced yet. thanks

I've been using AB for about 3 months now with 4 cards and I like it. It allows me to overclock, monitor temps, and set a fixed fan speed.

AB
PROS-
nice GUI  Cheesy
can save profiles Smiley
monitor temps in system tray or task bar (whatever thats called) Grin
make custom fan speeds Smiley

CONS-
can't OC more than Trixx Angry
takes longer to switch between cards

I've used Trixx for about 2 days and it seems to do everything AB does with a little extra.

PROS-
same as AB (except monitor temps outside or program) Undecided
can over clock some cards MORE than in AB, for example.  Grin
(5850 in AB can only OC to Core:749MHz or so in TriXX: Core:1000MHz) what's up with that?
allows me to change VDDC? whatever that is. (haven't used it) Huh
Allow more custom fan options. Cheesy
cleaner and easier interface Grin
drop down in main window to switch between cards!!

CONS-
doesn't have option to monitor temps in the task bar only in the program interface (that I know of)
that's about it.

What do YOU miners prefer AB or Trixx??? Huh Huh
