I recently just got 6 MSI ARMOR 470 4GBs with samsung memory and a tb250-btc. 1200w hp server psu(for cards) and a 600w(for mobo and risers). Currently getting 28.5 steady on claymore 9 on smOS. Eth only. Stock bios other than 1625 copied on up. Memory currently at 2025 and power level 5.

Just as an FYI, I just received in 5 more of these MSI Armors from NewEgg and the latest batch is all Hynix memory.

But of more interest is they went from a 8-pin PCIe connector down to a 6-pin connector. I do not know if this will translate into better performance power usage wise, but initial results show pretty much the same as the previous version. I will need to play around some more with the settings and BIOS to see. My other thought was that the original version probably didn't need the 8-pin's (150 watt) additional capacity so they simply downsized the connector with no other changes.

There is no part number differences that I can tell, so it still looks like it is flaovr of the week when ordering these from NewEgg as to which one you will get.

I have 4 msi gaming RX480 4g and 4 msi armour RX480 8Gb.

The gaming runs cooler by about 15c but the 8gb one runs faster. 286 Sols/s vs 305Sol/s 21Mhs vs 24Mh/s

So far I don't have issus with the armour but it makes me worry to see cards running +80c

Man, +80 is way too much , how much spacing between your cards , my msi gamingx is running 49,53and55 all my msi cards are averaging between 49 and 55

I run several of these MSI Armor RX470's and have had great luck with them.

They do come in two variants though, a Samsung memory version and a Hynix version. I can get about 1 MH/s more on a modded Samsung version, but both are great as even the Hynix will do 27 MH/s at ~ 110 Watt draw.

I also have the MSI Gaming, and while they are ok they do not perform any better or worse than the Armor cards when it comes to mining performance, but they do run around $20-$25 more. So if you are looking for the quickest ROI, the armors will knock about a month off your payback period.

...but you will not be able to sell them off as easily in the future as gaming x ones...

Go for the msi but the gamingx not armor , also try to avoid gigabyte g1 if you have msi gamingx available , i have both msi gamingx and gigabyte g1 both 470 4g

Msi gamingx is very good in cooling the twinfrozer are perfect made, gigabyte is the opposite Smiley very poor cooling this card is always more than the msi with 5-10 degree in temp.

"Armor" is the low end discount version. These are built with the cheapest toy-like
plastic and run slower because they use the lower quality binned chips. The do work,
just so slightly less powerful than other 470s.

If you want to stay with MSI, get the one that earned the good reputation, the gaming edition.
Most agree that Sapphire cards are the standard, well built and generally but not always
with the faster chips.

as a product MSI looks better quality (cooling, build quality, etc )

However I found Gigabyte more stable for mining.

I have 4 from each and running almost 3 months.

I would go for the MSI.

Great card easy to overclock and also no heat.

hi
Is MSI RX470 Armor 4gb a good card for mining ? (heat, fan , lifespan, quality)
which one would you suggest
gigabyte rx470 4gb g1 or the msi one
I know that there are other choices which can perform better but in my country these two models are only available
