Why not thermal paste? Use the best thermal paste and you are good to go, thermal pads are only good for reducing temp on gpu memory chips like this down below

I also think to re-paste the 3080 OEM paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut one, which has 12.5w/mK and it does not conduct electicity, so its a safer option than the Conductonaut Cheesy anyone done that already?

Yes, I know it wouldn't burn out immediately , but wanted to know any specifics to this card - whether changing the pads has actually helped someone, the thickness of the pads etc etc

You will know if you do the right thing after inserting the gpu back into mobo and watch your temp using msi afterburner or inside mining softwares, it's not as if your gpu will die instantly if you do something wrong

It doesn't have anything to do with any graphic card specific, you put thermal pads on the memory chips just like you would with any gpu, just make sure the pad are cut perfectly to the shape of the chips and the heat sink sits very well on your gpu chip

Hello all,

I just got my Thermal grizzly 2mm thick 8w/mk thermal pads and I am about to change them on my MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 3x.

I wanted to know if anyone has already done that and if you have any tips? I searched throughout Youtube and Google for vids about this card, but could only find videos about the Gaming X Trio one.

Has anyone changed their thermal pads on this particular GPU? Has it helped in any way with throttling issues?
