I'm sure DHS will eventually seize Camp BX's Dwolla account, too, though…
Unlikely, CampBX is now a registered MSB.
What's a "registered MSB"?

You need to use international bank transfer now to get funds from Gox to the US.  It's about $20 per transfer.
I pulled all my BTC out of Mt. Gox and traded on Camp BX instead. Camp BX seems much better, and it supports Dwolla, too. (I'm sure DHS will eventually seize Camp BX's Dwolla account, too, though…)

I don't get any message about Dwolla being frozen, but for the past week, when I've attempt to transfer from Mt. Gox to Dwolla, the transaction will go through, I'll receive an email from Mt. Gox with a transaction ID #, but about 10 min. later I seed the funds I was trying to transfer appear again in my Mt. Gox account. It looks like it's still frozen by the DHS…

I've just withdrawn all my funds (BTC and USD) from Gox ,after the Liberty Reserve charges filed today it can't be much longer before the Gox domain is seized as well (at least their .com address).

DHS are a bunch of fuckturd Nazis. Any idea how much they stole?

I'm going to say this in public for the simple reason that I'm kind of afraid to:

Yes.  Fuckturd Nazis.  I'm old enough to remember the Reagan years, and I've seen many random acts of fascism, but this is the only time I've ever been stone cold robbed by the federal government.  What does that mean?  I don't think we're marching toward total dictatorship any faster than we have been since the 18th century.  But I do think that this DHS thing is a really really bad idea.  Too much power.  Too vague a mandate.  It's very name sets of alarm bells, and it's actions set off more.

Yeah, it was a random act of fascism.

Or not.  It's only been two years of pointing out that US bitcoin exchanges clearly fall within the bounds of the laws FinCEN is associated with.  The whole world knew dealing with US citizens required some sort of money transmitter licensing -- that was the entire point of the CoinLab/MtGox deal ("MtGox wants 100% out of US and Canada").

The USG is gonna regulate the USD, and it's within their rights to do so.

If you dislike this... don't use USD.  Smiley

I don't and never will use US$. I stand by my description of the DHS as a bunch of fuckturd Nazis, and not just for the reason mentioned.

BTC withdrawals appear to not be working at Mt. Gox either. Decided to get out of Mt. Gox until this blows over...looks like I have no way to do that at the moment...

Same here.  I can't get my meagre holdings out of mt.gox and they want my dox.  I'm guessing I should write my bitcoins off.

Anyone have any more information about this?

I guess the problem is their intermediary. MT Gox is a japanese company and operates in the US. It does not need to have any US licence whatsoever.

While technically true, ultimately, MtGox is trading USG-controlled USD.  USG is going to regulate USD gateways (and they are well within their rights to do so).  Anybody gatewaying USD will ultimately be bound by US laws.

Within US borders, yes. You don't think the chinese government, which owns a ton of USD gateways, is just going to be dictated terms, right?

On what authority can the dept of homeland security do this?

Terrorism.  That's what they'll claim when they finally make a statement about this (If they ever do).

This Arstechnica article sheds more light on the reason.
Apparently the feds consider MtGox to be a "money transmitter" without a license.

Recall the recent flap about regulating the conversion of BTC to USD.  This is the first fallout from it.

If they are going to exchange US currency with people in the US (i.e. doing business within the US) then they do. Even if they are headquarted in Japan, by exchanging currency with the CI in maryland, they have also done business in maryland (and everywhere else in the USA by availing themselves there).

Does this freeze apply to US Bank -> Dwolla -> MtGox transfers only? Or MtGox -> Dwolla -> US Bank transfers too? I ask because the wording in the email from Dwolla seems to indicate only the first: "real-time Dwolla-to-Dwolla payment to Mutum Sigillum LLC..". I initiated a MtGox -> Dwolla transfer yesterday having not heard about all of this, but I have not gotten an email from Dwolla, however nor have the funds appeared in my Dwolla account.

I emailed Gox support and they offered to cancel my transfer and refund the cash into my account.

I guess I have to do a wire transfer now, but at least I didn't lose any money.

Glad to hear they were able to respond so quickly as well.

The lulz in all of this being, of course,

Quote
Apr 04 00:16:02 *   dub suggests to #mtgox that they list on MPEX to raise capital for engine
Apr 04 00:16:10    banned in 3 2 1
Apr 04 00:16:12    muhaha
Apr 04 00:16:28     dub: except that'd be illegla

MtGox thinks MPEx is illegal. MtGox thinks MtGox is legal. MP points and laughs. MtGox has its French accounts frozen, complains, is kicked out of Europe. MP points and laughs. MtGox has its US accounts frozen. MP points and laughs. Coin* thinks it "brings Wall Street to Bitcoin", half year to a year after MPEx already has. Coin* implodes in lolsuit. MP points and laughs.

Bitcoin. Backed by drama and lols.

MPEx. Failing last. Since 2011.

MPEx may fail last, but that upfront 30 BTC registration fee is wall I'm not sure I wanna climb.

Got an answer to my e-mail.  They said the transaction from yesterday will go through but no more will from now on.  They did say no other customers were affected which sounds like campbx would still work.

Seriously, why can't CampBX deal with a little bump in traffic...
It has to be the slowest, most inefficient web site I use...
Both Virtex and Liberty have been zipping along 100% up time today.

Almost.

The article identifies the "court orders received" as a "Seizure Warrant", which was not a part of the email.  In addition, it promises updates, hopefully at the same URL.  We'll see.

Is there a way to get money from okpay into your bank account without paying fees?  Or is there a $15 fee like it appears?

okpay withdrawals incur fees, for larger amounts the okpay/mc debit card is a better way to get funds out when wanting to purchase something...

Yeah, that doesn't really work for me, I need to get the cash to a place where I can use it to pay bills.

i've been using okpay for several weeks now without problems at gox as an alternative...

there's a withdrawal delay sometimes when gox is out of reserves, though.
wire transfer in to okpay usually also ok, sometimes takes longer of details not exactly correct. support is ok, not the fastest, but much better than gox itself Wink

referral signup link for okpay if someone feels like it

Got the same e-mail.  I have a transaction processing.  They had already received the money so I think it should go through.  I e-mailed them back to find out if it will or not.  It sounds like no further transactions will go through but it is not clear about the one going through being completed.

So I looked at okpay, seems good with the fee only 1% but there's a $15 fee for bank transfers..

So unless you're planning to get their debit card, it's probably cheaper and easier to just transfer direct from Gox.  Am I missing something?
