The nice thing about all this Gox instability is that it's giving me a chance to really iron out the corner cases in my trading algorithm. Already caught a couple nasty cases where the program would have flubbed the math if I hadn't been watching.

At least you see the bright side.

Huge lag on mtgox, impossible to know whats happening yet

Gox is a POS again.

Yeah, I'm developing a strong dislike. They stop BTC deposits because of the risk of a double spend, but do they stop trades? Hell no! Wouldn't want to miss out on all those yummy fees.

Gox is the only one truly benefitting fom thus.

There appears to be a conflict between 0.7 and 0.8, which caused a fork. The miners are reverting to 0.7 right now, and as soon as the blockchain catches up, we'll be ok. In the meantime, to prevent double spends, transactions are being halted. It will take a few hours to get back to normal.

From what I read, 0.8 screwed the blockchain...

I made a transaction to vircurex.  Confirmed on my client.  Vircurex shows 0/6 confirmations.  Maybe it's related...

Edit: Ah, I just looked, and it just jumped to 18 confirmations...  On blockchain.info.  A few minutes ago it was unconfirmed...

I'm NOT trolling. Mt. Gox stopped deposits, S.DICE down as well. Everyone important in the Bitcoin world is in IRC solving this problem right now. Mining pools are reverting to 0.7 to support the non-buggy fork of the blockchain. This is as serious as it gets. I'm predicting a shitstorm of gigantic proportions for this. It will be solved soon but the consequences for Bitcoin reliability are grave. They are doing a magnificent job at solving this but I fear the consequences for Bitcoin price short term will be not good. NO LINK yet, everybody is working on it. Let's hope for the best.
